Machado isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Sun Sep 27 201510:41Machado out of lineup Sunday against Twins
Machado is out of the lineup Sunday against the Twins.
Machado has taken over the lion's share of the duties at shortstop since Jose Iglesias went down with an injury, but hasn't done much to stand out at the plate. The young infielder owns a weak .231/.286/.269 line over 52 at-bats in the majors this season, which could result in him ceding more time to Josh Wilson and Andrew Romine in the final week of action.

Machado is not in the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
Machado recently returned to the lineup after dealing with a bout of left hamstring tightness, so it makes sense that the club would be hesitant to run him out for both games Monday. Andrew Romine will get the start at shortstop and bat ninth.

Machado (hamstring) is back in the lineup Saturday against the Royals.
Machado missed the Tigers' previous four games with the injury, though he was able to log a pinch-hitting appearance Friday night. Look for the young shortstop to split playing time with Andrew Romine at the position for the remainder of the season.
Fri Sep 18 201517:16Machado (hamstring) remains out of lineup Friday against Royals
Machado (hamstring) remains out of the lineup Friday against the Royals.
Make it four straight games out of the lineup for Machado, who continues to be hampered by a bout of left hamstring tightness. Andrew Romine will once again man shortstop and bat ninth. The two players were splitting time at the position before Machado went down, with Jose Iglesias on the shelf with a finger issue.
Wed Sep 16 201519:27Machado (hamstring) out of lineup Wednesday against Twins
Machado (hamstring) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Twins.
Andrew Romine will again take over at shortstop Wednesday as Machado remains sidelined with hamstring tightness. The Tigers are off Thursday, making the earliest he can return Friday when they open a series with the Royals.

Machado continues to deal with tightness in his hamstring, which initially surfaced during Sunday's game against Cleveland. He'll remain out Tuesday, enabling Andrew Romine to get the start at shortstop.
Mon Sep 14 201516:47Machado (hamstring) not in Monday's lineup
Machado (hamstring) is not in Monday's lineup.
Machado was lifted from Sunday's game against Cleveland due to tightness in his hamstring, and he'll be replaced in Monday's lineup by Andrew Romine. Detroit continues to list Machado as day-to-day, so he could be back in the lineup as early as Tuesday.
Sun Sep 13 201522:07Machado considered day-to-day with tightness in left hamstring
Machado is considered day-to-day with tightness in his left hamstring, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
Machado prematurely exited Sunday's second game against the Indians despite having an impressive game where he had already compiled two hits, two runs, and two RBIs. He'll be a game-time decision Monday in Minnesota, with Josh Wilson waiting in the wings for a potential start.

Machado will be in the lineup at shortstop and is batting ninth in the order for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader with the Indians, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
Following back-to-back rainouts Friday and Saturday, Machado and the Tigers will finally get the chance to take the field. Machado figures to be deployed as the Tigers' primary shortstop while Jose Iglesias (finger) remains sidelined for at least another week, but don't expect the 23-year-old to provide much of an impact. He's off to a 5-for-23 start to his big-league career and never posted particularly impressive offensive numbers during his time in the minors.
Fri Sep 4 201500:01Machado recalled by Tigers
Machado has been recalled by the Tigers, James Wagner of the Toledo-Blade reports.
The Tigers had some attrition Thursday with Jose Iglesias suffering a finger contusion after being hit by a pitch, so Machado's promotion is an insurance policy should Iglesias miss some time. Machado hasn't been up with the Tigers since July and compiled a pedestrian .227/.333/.250 slash line at Triple-A in August.
Sat Jul 18 201523:46Machado will be sent to Triple-A Toledo Sunday
Machado will be sent to Triple-A Toledo Sunday, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports.
Machado was called up when Marc Krauss went on paternity leave for Friday and Saturday. He did not make an appearance during this stint with the Tigers.
Fri Jul 17 201513:38Machado officially called up from Triple-A Toledo on Friday
Machado was officially called up from Triple-A Toledo on Friday, the Oakland Press reports.
Machado will take the place of Marc Krauss, who was placed on the paternity list Friday. The Triple-A all-star appeared in three games for the Tigers at the end of May, going 1-for-7 at the plate. He's hitting .272 on the year at Triple-A. Considering Krauss will only remain on the paternity list for a few days, Machado's stay with Detroit could be a quick one.

Machado will be promoted to the Tigers ahead of Friday's game against Baltimore, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
The Tigers will place Marc Krauss on paternity leave before opening the second half of their season, which clears room on the roster for Machado to be promoted. Machado went 1-for-7 in his three-game stint with the Tigers earlier in the season and has batted .272 overall at Triple-A on the year.

Machado is hitting a team-high .292 for the Toledo Mud Hens, which ranks tied for 16th in the International League. It is fueled by an impressive .326 and 10 RBI in his last 11 games.
He offers a solid defense/contact package, so the grand slam he smacked last Wednesday isn't normal for him. But it is nice to see him stabilize toward the offensive improvements he made last year. It will only enhance his potential as a future depth guy at the major league level.
Thu May 28 201518:23Machado optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday
Machado was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.
The Tigers need room on the roster for Buck Farmer, who is replacing Kyle Lobstein (shoulder) in the starting rotation. Austin Romine has been getting most of the playing time at shortstop in the absence of Jose Iglesias (knee), who may be nearing a return. The 23-year-old Machado had an excellent season for Double-A Erie in 2014, but he hasn't fared as well with Toledo this year. While he isn't a great base-stealer and doesn't have much power, he offers an intriguing combination of defense and contact skills that could be useful down the road.
Sun May 24 201511:21Machado recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday
Machado was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
Though Jose Iglesias is expected to avoid the disabled list after suffering a knee contusion Saturday, the Tigers decided to stock up on some middle infield depth by adding Machado to the 25-man roster. The 23-year-old was batting .274 with five stolen bases at Toledo and figures to slot in behind Andrew Romine at shorstop while the Tigers wait for Iglesias' return.
Thu Apr 2 201511:36Machado optioned to Triple-A Toledo to begin season
Machado has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo to begin the season.
After showing an improved line at the plate with Double-A Erie last season, Machado could be increasing his long-term value to the Tigers (or to other clubs via trade). It will be interesting to see if he can sustain the increased production (.305/.391/.442) in the International League in 2015, and it's possible that Machado will be used as the primary shortstop if Jose Iglesias goes down with an injury this season.

Machado could begin the season as the team's starting shortstop at Triple-A Toledo, the Detroit News reports.
A very good defender, Machado showed growth at the plate during a 90-game stretch with Double-A Erie in 2014 with the best line of his career (.305/.391/.442). The 23-year-old will serve as an insurance policy for the big club if Jose Iglesias has any lingering issues following a lost season, and it's not unreasonable to think that other teams will become more interested in acquiring Machado as a potential starter if he sustains the offensive growth with the move to the International League this season.
