SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners activated second baseman Dee Gordon off the 10-day disabled list before Thursday night's game against the Texas Rangers and reinserted him into his customary leadoff spot.Infielder Gordon Beckham was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to make room for Gordon on the roster.Gordon was placed on the DL with a fractured right big toe on May 22, retroactive to May 21. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Seattle Mariners say they will have a better idea on the projected length of Robinson Cano's recovery time after the second baseman is examined by a hand specialist in Philadelphia on Tuesday.The eight-time All-Star broke the pinkie finger of his right hand when hit by a pitch from left-hander Blaine Hardy on Sunday at the Detroit.Cano is batting .287 with four homers, 23 RBIs and a .385 on-base percentage in 39 games this season."Any team that's going to lose their three-hole hitter, nobody's got somebody to just step in and replace that guy," manager Scott Servais said Monday. "Guys around him, throughout our lineup, really throughout the whole ball club, kind of need to step up."Seattle put Cano on the 10-day disabled list and recalled infielder Gordon Beckham from Tacoma of the Triple-A International League. INF Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 and scored a run Friday night in a 6-3 victory against Oakland at the Oakland Coliseum. Starting at third base, he also made a spectacular catch of C Josh Phegley's foul pop in the bottom of the seventh, diving over a top and reaching into the seats for the grab. Then he got up and threw out DH Renato Nunez, who tagged up and tried to advance to second.

INF Gordon Beckham made his Mariners debut in Sunday's eighth inning. Beckham came on as a pinch runner and scored before getting an opportunity to hit later in the five-run inning. Beckham, the Mariners' 10th hitter of the inning, grounded out to third to end the eighth.

INF Gordon Beckham's contract was selected by the Mariners from Triple-A Tacoma. Beckham, who has played eight seasons in the majors for the White Sox, Angels, Braves and Giants, has a .262 batting average with nine homers and 45 RBIs for Tacoma in 2017. INF Gordon Beckham made his Giants debut as a defensive replacement at third base in the ninth inning of Thursday's win over the Colorado Rockies. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the plan is to start Beckham at third base against Los Angeles Dodgers LHP Rich Hill on Friday night.
