CHICAGO (AP) — Aníbal Sánchez pitched one-hit ball into the ninth inning and helped himself with two perfectly placed bunts, leading the Washington Nationals to a 9-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday.Washington had a short turnaround with an afternoon start after its 7-1 victory at Pittsburgh on Thursday night. The Nationals didn't arrive in Chicago until early Friday morning, but their loaded lineup looked as if it got more than enough rest.Juan Soto and Adam Eaton homered as Washington improved to 13-4 in its last 17 games, putting pressure on NL East-leading Atlanta and strengthening its position atop the wild card standings. It has outscored its opponents 129-66 since Aug. 5.Chicago had won five in a row, but it was unable to overcome a shaky start by Jon Lester (10-9) and another rough performance at the plate.Sánchez (8-6), who flew into Chicago ahead of time on Thursday, allowed one earned run while improving to 8-0 in his last 16 starts.INDIANS 4, ROYALS 1CLEVELAND (AP) —... CHICAGO (AP) — Texas reliever Luke Farrell, out since being hit in the face by line drive in spring training, was activated from the 60-day injured list by the Rangers before their game Friday against the White Sox.The 28-year-old right-hander has spent the entire season rehabbing since suffering a non-displaced jaw fracture and concussion when he was struck by a comebacker off the bat of San Francisco's Jalen Miller in a March 2 game in Scottsdale, Arizona."It's been a long road to get back here and bounce back from the injury and everything," Farrell said. "I feel great and happy to join the team."Farrell, the son of former Red Sox manager John Farrell, said he was unable to return to baseball activities for weeks after the gruesome incident."It was, honestly, a migraine for two months," he said. A look at what's happening around the majors today:NAME THAT NICKNAMEJerseys will take on a different look during Players' Weekend, when big leaguers are encouraged to be creative with what goes on the back of their uniforms.Cleveland outfielder Yasiel Puig will have Wild Horse, for the way he charges around the bases. Rays pitcher Charlie Morton will use Ground Chuck, for how he induces grounders. Reds first baseman Joey Votto will go with Who — for the "Abbott and Costello" comedy routine of "Who's on First?"Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis is skipping letters and going with an emoji — of lettuce, to rhyme with his last name.OCTOBER PREVIEW?Yankees lefty James Paxton is having one of the best stretches of his career. Paxton (9-6, 4.53 ERA) takes the mound at Dodger Stadium looking to win his fifth straight start — he won seven in a row in 2017 with Seattle.Los Angeles counters with lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu, who is 12-3 and leads the majors with a 1.64 ERA.New York manager Aaron Boone knows this...
