Fri Aug 26 202216:40Taylor Ward Placed On Restricted List
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward and relievers Aaron Loup and Ryan Tepera were all placed on the injured list on Friday ahead of the team's weekend series in Toronto against the Blue Jays. All three players won't travel to Canada because of their vaccination status. It's bad timing for Ward, who has six hits (one homer) and two RBI in his last three games to stop a slump that he's been going through in August. With Ward away from the team, Ryan Aguilar is getting the nod in right field and will hit eighth on Friday against Blue Jays right-hander Mitch White. Aguilar, 27, will be making his major league debut against Toronto. In 88 games at Double-A Rocket City this year, he's hit .280/.427/.517 with 15 long balls, 48 RBI, 55 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.

Fri Aug 26 202214:24Taylor Ward Goes Deep In Loss To Rays
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in the team's 8-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Ward has mostly been cold in the month of July, but he's recently showed some signs of breaking out his slump, so fantasy managers in deeper leagues may want to throw him into their lineups moving forward. The 28-year-old is hitting just .216 (19-for-88) in August, but he does have four home runs, 11 RBI and six runs scored in 23 games played. Ward hasn't been bad in 2022, slashing .261/.351/.447 with 17 home runs, 46 RBI, 54 runs scored and three stolen bases in 427 plate appearances over 101 games for the Halos.

Sun Jun 5 202212:09Taylor Ward To Injured List, Jo Adell Back In Big Leagues
The Los Angeles Angels placed outfielder Taylor Ward (hamstring) on the injured list with a right hamstring strain on Sunday and recalled outfielder Jo Adell from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Ward suffered the injury on Friday. It remains to be seen how long he'll need before returning to the Halos outfield. Before the injury, the 28-year-old had been excellent with a .333/.443/.644 slash line, a 1.087 OPS, 10 home runs, 26 RBI, 30 runs scored and one stolen base in 158 plate appearances over 38 games. Juan Lagares played right field on Saturday, but Adell should see most of the starts there now that he's back with the club. Adell has struggled to a .207 average with 10 homers, 41 RBI and three steals in 92 games over the last three seasons with the Angels, and he hit only .222/.341/.597 with a .938 OPS, six homers and 15 RBI in 19 games with Salt Lake. Adell is worth adding in deep mixed leagues for his power/speed upside.

Fri Jun 3 202221:52Taylor Ward Dealing With Hamstring Tightness
Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward is dealing with right hamstring tightness. Ward left Friday night's game after attempting a diving catch on a ball during the fifth inning. He was able to get back to his feet and chase down the ball but was removed from the game shortly thereafter. Depending on the severity of the injury and how his hamstring responds on Saturday, Ward could possibly be looking at a stay on the injured list. Look for the Angels to offer more information on Saturday after they see how he's feeling.

Ward is hitting .333 with 10 homers, 30 runs, and 26 RBI on the season. Look for the Angels to update his status following Friday night's game.

Fri May 27 202219:11Taylor Ward Returns, Shohei Ohtani Out Friday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup on Friday, while designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (back) is on the bench against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah. Ward is serving as the DH and hitting leadoff after entering the game as a pinch-hitter on Thursday. The 28-year-old should be returned to all fantasy lineups in single-year formats, as he's hitting .367/.477/.706 with nine home runs, 23 RBI, 27 runs scored and one stolen base in 109 at-bats. Ohtani left his start on the mound on Thursday due to back stiffness, and he should be considered day-to-day for now. Last year's American League MVP is slashing .249/.318/.446 with nine home runs, 29 RBI, 31 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 45 games at the plate.

Fri May 27 202208:06Taylor Ward Enters As Pinch-Hitter On Thursday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (neck, shoulder) made an appearance as a pinch-hitter in Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He entered the game in the eighth inning, coming in for Shohei Ohtani (back), and he went on to line out in his only at-bat. This was Ward's first game action since last Friday, when he collided with the outfield wall while making a catch. He injured his neck and shoulder on the play and has been day-to-day over the past week. The 28-year-old has been fantastic at the plate this year, slashing .367/.477/.706 with nine home runs, 23 RBI and 27 runs.

Thu May 26 202220:07Taylor Ward Sitting Against Blue Jays
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (neck, shoulder) is not in the starting lineup on Thursday night against the Toronto Blue Jays. It will be the fifth straight game that Ward has missed as he deals with neck and shoulder issues, although his MRI exam came back clean on Wednesday. If the 28-year-old misses any more time moving forward, there's a chance he could land on the injured list. He has been excellent for fantasy managers in 2022 with a .370/.481/.713 slash line, a 1.194 OPS, nine home runs, 23 RBI, 27 runs scored and one stolen base in 108 at-bats for the Halos. Juan Lagares is in right field and is batting seventh on Thursday against Blue Jays left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu. Lagares will be making his season debut and has very little DFS upside.

Wed May 25 202218:30Taylor Ward To Miss Fifth Straight Game
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (shoulder) is being held out of the starting lineup for the fifth straight game on Wednesday. The MRI came back clean on Tuesday, but it appears the Angels are going to remain cautious. Possibly, Ward will be used off the bench during Wednesday's contest against the Texas Rangers. The hope is that Ward will be able to return to the starting lineup at some point this week.

Tue May 24 202221:43MRI Comes Back Clean For Taylor Ward
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (neck, shoulder) underwent an MRI on Tuesday, which came back clean. He is available to pinch-hit in Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers, though he hasn't been cleared to throw and cannot yet play the field. The 28-year-old has no structural damage in his neck or shoulder, but his opportunities will be limited with Shohei Ohtani locked in as the team's primary designated hitter. Ward is off to an incredible start, slashing .370/.481/.713 with nine home runs, 23 RBI, 27 runs scored, and a stolen base over 131 plate appearances in 2022.

Tue May 24 202218:01Taylor Ward To Miss His Third Straight Game Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (neck) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers. Ward suffered a neck injury after colliding with the outfield wall this past Friday and he's been held out of game action ever since. Tyler Wade is making his third straight start in right field for Tuesday's game. It's certainly concerning that Ward wasn't able to return after the team's day off on Monday. There's been no indication that Ward will require a stint on the injured list, so we're still considering him day-to-day for now.

Sun May 22 202220:03Taylor Ward Will Undergo MRI
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (neck, shoulder) is set to undergo an MRI on Monday. He crashed into the wall during Friday's game and hasn't played since then. The 28-year-old outfielder said he can play through the issue and won't require a trip to the injured list. However, the Angels want to be safe, so they'll have him undergo an MRI. That being said, fantasy managers will hopefully only be without Ward for another game or two. There should be another update on his status after his MRI on Monday.

Sat May 21 202218:54Taylor Ward Passes Concussion Protocols
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (head) was removed from Friday's game against the Oakland Athletics after colliding with the outfield wall while making a catch. He has passed through the league's concussion protocols. Ward described his injury in Friday's game as a "stinger." According to Angels beat writer Rhett Bollinger, there's a chance Ward could be available to play in Saturday's game. The Angels haven't announced their lineup for Saturday as of this writing. It's likely that Ward will not be included in the starting lineup, but it certainly sounds like he won't be missing much time at all.

Sat May 21 202209:49Taylor Ward Exits With An Injury On Friday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward was removed in the ninth inning of Friday's game against the Oakland Athletics with an undisclosed injury. The 28-year-old ran into the wall in right field while making a catch. He was looked at by a trainer for a few minutes before walking off the field with the trainer. After the game, Angels manager Joe Maddon stated that Ward was being evaluated and that he wasn't sure of what the nature of the injury was. Ward is off to a phenomenal start to the 2022 season, slashing .370/.481/.713 with nine home runs, 23 RBI and 27 runs over just 30 games. He should be considered day-to-day at this point until we hear more.

Fri May 13 202211:38Taylor Ward Expected To Rejoin Starting Lineup On Friday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (hamstring) is expected to be in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Oakland Athletics. This would be the first time Ward has been in the starting lineup since last Sunday. He has been dealing with right hamstring tightness, but came off the bench to pinch-hit on Wednesday. Ward blasted a solo home run during that at-bat, so he appears ready to get back into action. He is slashing .367/..490/.709 with seven home runs this season.

Thu May 12 202208:58Taylor Ward Homers Off The Bench On Wednesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (hamstring) was held out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays due to a sore hamstring. However, he entered the game as a pinch-hitter and went on to go 1-for-2 with a two-run home run. Ward sat out each of the team's previous two games before Wednesday's contest. Even though many fantasy managers likely had Ward on their bench on Wednesday, it's encouraging to see him go yard after a two-game absence. The Angels are off on Thursday, but we can safely expect to see Ward back in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Oakland Athletics.

Wed May 11 202215:44Mike Trout, Taylor Ward Out Against Rays
Los Angeles Angels outfielders Mike Trout and Taylor Ward (hamstring) are not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Trout is just receiving a normal day of rest, while Ward will sit out his third straight game due to a sore hamstring. With an off day coming for the Halos on Thursday, there's a chance Ward is back in the lineup on Friday for the series opener against the Oakland Athletics. Aaron Whitefield is in center field and is hitting sixth, while Jack Mayfield draws another start in right field while batting seventh against Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan on Wednesday. Both Trout and Ward are must-start fantasy commodities when they are starting. Trout currently leads the league in runs scored (25), walks (19), slugging percentage (.726), OPS (1.183), OPS+ (248) and total bases (69).

Tue May 10 202221:16Taylor Ward Remains Out Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. However, according to The Athletic's Sam Blum, Ward said he's feeling much better and will be available off the bench. Ward also sat out on Monday with hamstring tightness and will take another day off. The 28-year-old thinks his injury is minor, though, and that he'll avoid the injured list. His fantasy managers hope he's right, as Ward currently leads the league in batting average (.364), on-base percentage (.490), slugging percentage (.675), OPS (1.165), OPS+ (245) and walks (19). There's a good chance he'll be back in the lineup on Wednesday. Jack Mayfield is in right field and is hitting sixth on Tuesday against Rays right-hander Corey Kluber.

Mon May 9 202218:21Taylor Ward Out With Hamstring Tightness Monday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (hamstring) is absent from the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays due to hamstring tightness. Jack Mayfield will be covering right field in the game and Brandon Marsh will be slotting in as the team's leadoff hitter. According to Angels beat reporter Rhett Bollinger, Ward stated that he thinks he will only need one day off with the ailment. Ward reportedly felt the tightness while rounding third base in the ninth inning of Sunday's game. The 28-year-old has been absolutely on fire at the plate so far this year. Through 22 games, he's slashing .364 .490/.675 with six home runs, 15 RBI and 20 runs scored. His 1.165 OPS leads the majors and he's second in the MLB in batting average behind Manny Machado. Hopefully we'll see Ward back in the leadoff spot on Tuesday.

Sat May 7 202208:53Taylor Ward Reaches Base Three More Times On Friday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward went 0-for-1 with three walks and a run scored in the Angels' 3-0 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday. Ward has been a fixture atop the Angels' lineup so far in 2022 and his breakout is looking more legitimate as the season moves on. Over 69 at-bats, Ward is slashing an impressive .362/.488/.710 with six homers, 15 RBI, 19 runs scored, and one stolen base. While his ratios are unsustainable, he continues to get the job done as the Angels' leadoff hitter, setting the table for Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and the rest of the Angels lineup. Ward, a first-round draft pick in 2015, had previously played in parts of four different MLB seasons before 2022. It appears he is finally putting it all together and should be immediately scooped up in any sleepwalking leagues where he isn't already rostered.
