Mon Sep 5 202211:54Andrew Benintendi To Have Surgery Tuesday
New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi (wrist) is tentatively scheduled to have surgery on his hand on Tuesday, according to skipper Aaron Boone. The surgery will fix the hook of the hamate bone in his right wrist and is expected to keep him sidelined for the rest of the 2022 regular season. It remains to be seen if Benintendi will be able to return if the Yanks make a long postseason run. The 28-year-old played in 33 games for New York after being acquired from the Kansas City Royals, and he had gone 29-for-114 (.254) with two home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored and four stolen bases in 33 games in pinstripes. With Benintendi out for the foreseeable future, Aaron Hicks, Estevan Florial, Tim Locastro and Marwin Gonzalez will battle for playing time in left field in the Bronx.

Sun Sep 4 202217:46Andrew Benintendi Will Require Surgery
New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi (wrist) is likely going to be sidelined throughout the rest of the regular season. This is the worst case scenario for the young outfielder who suffered a hand injury on Friday. The results came back and Benintendi has broke the hook of the hamate bone in his right hand. He'll require surgery for this injury, which should knock him out for the rest of the regular season. His status for the postseason is unknown, but this is bad news for a Yankees offense that is already struggling. Aaron Hicks and Oswaldo Cabrera are expected to see increased playing time, but have nowhere near the same fantasy value as Benintendi.

Sat Sep 3 202218:13Andrew Benintendi Heads To IL
New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi (wrist) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with right wrist inflammation. Benintendi hurt his wrist in Friday's game against the Rays, and although X-rays came back negative, he will head to the IL and miss at least the next 10 days. It is unfortunate timing, as the 28-year-old lefty has been hot recently, going 14-for-41 (.341) with two homers and a stolen base over his last 11 games. While he's out, expect Aaron Hicks and Oswaldo Cabrera to pick up more playing time. Benintendi can be dropped in most leagues that don't have IL spots.

Fri Sep 2 202222:43X-Rays Negative On Andrew Benintendi
X-rays on the right wrist of New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi came back negative after he left the game early on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Benintendi will go for an MRI exam on Saturday. The 28-year-old injured his wrist on a swing on Friday. It's good news that X-rays came back negative, but Benintendi isn't out of the woods yet and is unlikely to be in the starting lineup on Saturday, so fantasy managers must plan accordingly. If Benintendi is forced to the injured list, it would mean more playing time for Aaron Hicks and Oswaldo Cabrera in the outfield. Since being dealt to the Bombers at the Aug. 2 trade deadline, Benintendi has gone 27-for-113 (.239) with two home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored and four stolen bases in 32 games.

New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi left Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays with a wrist injury. Benintendi injured his right wrist and will head off for X-rays, according to the Yankees' official Twitter account. The veteran outfielder went 1-for-1 with a double in the game before he was replaced in the lineup by Oswaldo Cabrera. Look for the Yankees to update Benintendi's status after they see the results of his X-rays.

Thu Jul 28 202215:25Andrew Benintendi Hitting Leadoff In Yankees Debut
New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff on Thursday in his debut with the team against his former team, the Kansas City Royals, and right-hander Brady Singer. The Yanks landed Benintendi from the Royals on Wednesday night in exchange for minor league pitchers T.J. Sikkema, Beck Way and Chandler Champlain. The 28-year-old has hit .320/.387/.398, but fantasy managers would like some more power (only three home runs in 347 at-bats). The power and counting stats should improve the rest of the way in 2022 in a much stronger Yankees lineup, especially in the Bronx with the short porch in right field.

Wed Jul 27 202222:59Yankees Finalizing Deal For Andrew Benintendi
The New York Yankees are finalizing a deal on Wednesday night to acquire outfielder Andrew Benintendi from the Kansas City Royals, according to sources. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that minor league pitchers Chandler Champlain, Beck Way and T.J. Sikkema are headed to the Royals in exchange for Benintendi. The 28-year-old Benintendi was an All-Star for the first time this year, and he's slashing .320/.387/.398 with three home runs, 39 RBI, 40 runs scored and four stolen bases on the season. He should be a regular in New York's outfield the rest of the way, and he'll be a boost with Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles) recently landing on the injured list. Benintendi's counting stats should receive a notable boost in the Bronx. Sikkema and Way were the Yankees' No. 19 and 20 prospects, respectively, per MLB Pipeline.

Sat Jul 23 202212:26Yankees Seen As Serious Contenders For Andrew Benintendi
The New York Yankees have emerged as "serious contenders" to acquire Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi before the Aug. 2 trade deadline, according to a source. Benintendi's fantasy stock would definitely go way up with a move to the first-place Yankees with the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium. The 28-year-old isn't vaccinated against COVID-19, which could become a problem if he's dealt to New York and then end up facing the Toronto Blue Jays in the postseason, but his vaccination status doesn't appear to be an issue for now. Benintendi doesn't have much power (only three home runs), but the first-time All-Star is hitting a solid .319/.389/.402 with 39 RBI, 37 runs scored and two stolen bases in 88 games for the Royals.

Thu Jul 7 202212:39Andrew Benintendi Steals A Base, Scores Thrice
Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi continued to build his trade value Wednesday night, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, three runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base in a 7-4 win over the Houston Astros. Benintendi doesn't add much in the power or speed categories, with just three homers and two steals this season, but he has put up a .411/.500/.500 slash line over his last 15 games and has seven multi-hit outings in his last nine. His value will only tick upward should he be moved to a team with a better overall offense.

Wed Jun 29 202215:14Blue Jays Interested In Andrew Benintendi
The Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals are potential trade partners ahead of the Aug. 2 MLB trade deadline, and Toronto is among the teams with interest in outfielder Andrew Benintendi. The Royals have appealing bullpen arms as well. The rebuilding Royals will be sellers this year, and Benintendi is perhaps their most valuable trade chip. The former Boston Red Sox outfielder only has three home runs on the year, but he's hitting .303/.368/.391 with 27 RBI, 28 runs scored and a stolen base in 304 plate appearances over 72 games in his second year with Kansas City. His counting stats would likely improve if he were traded to a contender like the Blue Jays, especially in the hitter-friendly environment at Rogers Centre.

Wed Jun 15 202214:13Andrew Benintendi Not Starting On Wednesday
Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi isn't starting on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants and left-hander Sam Long. Benintendi is enjoying a productive season so far, batting .298 with a .365 on-base percentage and a pair of home runs in 252 plate appearances. Instead, it'll be Hunter Dozier hitting sixth and starting in left field in place of Benintendi against the Giants. Dozier is batting .265 with a .323 on-base percentage, six home runs, and a stolen base through 217 plate appearances this season. He could be worth a look as a streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.

Tue Jun 7 202217:00Andrew Benintendi Returns To Lineup Tuesday
Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi (calf) is back in left field and is hitting in his usual No. 2 spot in the batting order on Tuesday against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah. Benintendi didn't play on Monday while dealing with a tight calf, but he's back in there on Tuesday and should be returned to starting fantasy lineups. The 27-year-old has been dynamite for fantasy managers in 2020, hitting .321/.384/.415 with a .799 OPS, two home runs, 21 RBI and 17 runs scored in 216 plate appearances over 52 games in his second year with KC. Kyle Isbel will move over to center field on Tuesday and will drop to seventh in the lineup.

Mon Jun 6 202217:59Andrew Benintendi Not Playing Monday
Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi (calf) is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Benintendi fouled a ball off his calf in the loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday and will take a seat a day later. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 27-year-old day-to-day. Make sure to remove him from your daily lineups. Benintendi has been having a fine season in his second year in KC, slashing .321/.384/.415 with two home runs, 21 RBI and 17 runs scored in 216 plate appearances over 52 games played. Kyle Isbel will get the nod in left field and will bat second on Monday against Jays right-hander Ross Stripling. Isbel is hitting .258 (17-for-66) and is still looking for his first home run in his 26th game of the year.

Mon Apr 11 202222:02Andrew Benintendi Goes 3-for-3 On Monday
Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi had a perfect day at the plate in Monday's 10-7 defeat to the Cleveland Guardians, recording three hits, including a home run, two runs, and three RBI in three at-bats, while walking twice. He's now slashing .538/.625/.769 with a home run over his first four games. Benintendi's plate discipline has been excellent as well, as he's walked three times and struck out only once in 13 at-bats. The former Golden Spikes Award winner is looking to build on his solid 2021 season when he hit .276 with 17 HRs, eight stolen bases, 73 RBI, and 63 runs. Benintendi's ability to run and hit for power is enticing, and so is manager Mike Matheny's inclination to bat him third in the lineup. Fantasy managers who drafted the 26-year-old have themselves an all-around contributor.

Wed Sep 29 202107:28Andrew Benintendi Suffers Knee Injury On Tuesday
Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi (knee) was removed in the eighth inning of Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Indians. He fouled a ball off his right knee in the bottom of the eighth inning. He finished his at-bat and drew a walk, but was replaced on the base paths by Hanser Alberto. Benintendi could have just been removed as a precaution. We should know more about the severity of the injury soon. The 27-year-old hit his 17th home run of the year in the first inning of Tuesday's game. He's slashing .275/.318/.442 over 129 games on the year.

Tue Sep 21 202106:34Andrew Benintendi Hits His 16th Home Run
Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi helped lead the team to a 7-2 victory in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians. He went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the game. The 27-year-old has been on a roll in September. Over 20 games this month, he's slashing .377/.412/.623 with four home runs and 23 RBI. He has 16 home runs and a .276/.320/.441 slash line over the season. He's having his best year since 2018, when he slashed .290/.366/.465 while tallying 16 home runs, 21 stolen bases and 103 runs. His power has been inconsistent this year and he's just 8-for-16 in stolen bases, but he's been a steady source of batting average help throughout the season and that should continue through the final weeks.
