Thu May 5 202219:12Jared Walsh Drives In Four Thursday
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh had himself a big day at the plate in Thursday's 8-0 blowout win against the Boston Red Sox. He went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and four RBI. The 28-year-old is now slashing .247/.302/.416 with four home runs, 18 RBI, 10 runs, and no stolen bases. Walsh carries a healthy amount of power but is pretty limited otherwise, with little speed and a lackluster batting average. Additionally, fantasy managers should be cautious starting him against left-handers. This year, Walsh's OPS against southpaws is just .668, and in 2021, he batted .170 with a .565 OPS.

Sun Apr 17 202212:25Anthony Rendon, Jared Walsh Out Sunday
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon and first baseman Jared Walsh are not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Texas Rangers. Walsh and outfielder Brandon Marsh are sitting for the second straight game against a left-handed pitcher. Jack Mayfield is at the hot corner and is hitting cleanup, while Matt Duffy is starting at first for the second straight day and batting fifth against Rangers southpaw Martin Perez. Although he has a homer and three RBI in his first eight games, Rendon is off to a slow start with just five hits in 27 at-bats. Walsh has sat against three of the four lefties the Angels have faced in the early going, so a true platoon is developing between him and Duffy at the cold corner.

Sun Apr 3 202213:24Jared Walsh Enjoying A Productive Spring
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh is having a solid spring, hitting .333 with one homer, four runs, and five RBI over 24 at-bats. Walsh had a breakout season in 2021, finishing with a .277 average, 29 homers, 70 runs, and 98 RBI over 144 games played. Walsh is much more productive against right-handed pitching so he could lose a few at-bats when there's a lefty on the mound but he remains a top-10 fantasy first baseman heading into 2022.

The 28-year old has been exceptional as of late, hitting .330 with a .904 OPS in September. After a 26 game stretch without a home run ending on August 28, Walsh has slashed .333/.400/.560 with four home runs in 23 games since. With him ending the year strong, fantasy managers should be starting him in every league.

Overall in 131 games this season, he owns a .271/.335/.504 slash line with 27 HRs, 85 RBI, and 62 runs. The game extended Walsh's hitting streak to seven games, during which he's batting .423 with four extra-base hits. On the season, he's slashing .270/.331/.501 with 25 HRs, 80 RBI, and 56 runs over 120 games. He's a good first baseman to have in any format and should continue to produce the rest of the way.

Wed Sep 1 202110:31Jared Walsh Smacks 25th Home Run Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh clobbered his 25th home run of the season on Tuesday in the 6-4 victory over the New York Yankees. His slash line is now sitting at .265/.328/.502 with 79 RBI and 56 runs across 116 games. Walsh looks to be getting back on track after posting a .507 OPS from early July to the end of August. It's good news for fantasy managers, and if he stays hot, he should once again be a starting first baseman in almost every league.

Thu Aug 26 202122:22Jared Walsh Hitless Thursday
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh didn't reach base during Thursday's defeat to the Baltimore Orioles, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. The night continued his long-lasting cold streak, which started in early July. Over his last 30 games, he's slashing .216/.293/.315 with just three home runs. It's diminished his strong start to the year, as he's now hitting .263 with a .818 OPS and 23 HRs. Walsh should still be rostered in most leagues with his raw power and ability to get hot, but shouldn't start over someone putting up better numbers right now.

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh had a good night on Saturday, collecting a single, two walks, and an RBI against the Houston Astros. Walsh, who was activated from the injured list on August 11, has been a threat all season in the heart of the Angels lineup. He's slashed .266/.321/.507 with 22 HRs, 70 RBI, and 47 runs. However, his power has disappeared recently, with no home runs in his last 17 games. Walsh is still a good bat for fantasy managers, and his power should come back eventually.

Tue Aug 10 202116:44Jared Walsh May Be Activated Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh (side) could be activated on Tuesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. If he is, it will likely be after the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays. Walsh landed on the IL on July 28 after experiencing a side injury two days prior. He's had a very good year in the heart of the Angels lineup, batting .266 while slugging .516 with 22 HRs. However, during his last 25 games before landing on the IL, he slashed just .200/.216/.360 with four home runs. Fantasy managers should stay tuned and hope that when Walsh returns from his injury, he also returns to form.

Sun Aug 8 202116:46Jared Walsh Could Return As Soon As Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh (side) could return to the lineup as soon as Tuesday, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. He's had a solid sophomore season with the Angels in 2021, slashing .266/.320/.516 with 22 homers, 67 RBI and 47 runs scored over 97 games. Sat Aug 7 202122:09No Update On Jared Walsh
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh (side) has yet to be activated from the 10-day injured list. Although there were rumblings that he would be ready to go for the weekend matchups against the Los Angeles Dodgers, skipper Joe Maddon couldn't provide an update on Saturday when asked. The 28-year-old was playing relatively well before going down with an intercostal strain at the end of July, so the lack of news is rather unfortunate. However, fantasy managers should remain optimistic that Walsh could be activated soon, possibly as early as Sunday for the series finale.
