Fri Aug 25 202319:41Jarred Kelenic To Start Rehab Assignment Next Week
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma next week. Barring a setback on his rehab assignment, Kelenic should be able to return to the Mariners early in September. The 24-year-old ditched his walking boot last week and has been building up his baseball activities ever since. He initially fractured his left foot while kicking a water cooler in the dugout in mid-July. Before the injury, Kelenic was having the best season of his big-league career with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 43 runs scored while hitting .252 (82-for-326) in 90 games played. He should return to a regular role in Seattle's outfield for the stretch run when he's healthy, so fantasy managers in mixed leagues might want to scoop him up soon if he's available on the waiver wire.

Thu Aug 17 202315:28Jarred Kelenic Ditches Walking Boot, Starts Baseball Activities
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) had his walking boot removed on Wednesday and is resuming baseball activities in Arizona. The Mariners are optimistic that he will be able to rejoin the team sometime in early September. Kelenic fractured his left foot while kicking a water cooler in the dugout in frustration and has been out for four weeks now. The 24-year-old will need to continue ramping up his baseball activities before likely going on a minor-league rehab assignment later this month. He's worth stashing in deeper fantasy leagues since he's expected to return this year, but he won't have a whole lot of time to make an impact when he does return. Before the injury, Kelenic was having by far his best big-league season, slashing .252/.320/.439 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 43 runs scored in 90 games.

Mon Jul 31 202314:31Jarred Kelenic Unlikely To Return Until Early September
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) is expected to be in a walking boot for four to six weeks and is unlikely to return from the 10-day injured list until early September, according to president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto. Kelenic will miss most of the remainder of the regular season after going on the injured list on July 20 with a fractured left foot that he suffered when he kicked a water cooler in the dugout. The 24-year-old won't have much time to contribute to fantasy lineups in September once he's fully healthy, so he's not a must-stash in shallow redraft leagues. Kelenic had slowed down a bit at the plate after a strong first half, and he's currently hitting .252/.320/.439 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 43 runs scored in 326 at-bats.

Sat Jul 22 202318:35Jarred Kelenic To Wear Boot For 4-6 Weeks
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) was recently placed on the injured list after fracturing his foot while kicking a water cooler. The team announced that Kelenic will wear a boot on his foot for the next 4-6 weeks to allow his foot fracture to heal. That being said, it sounds like an early September return is the best case scenario for Kelenic right now. Cade Marlowe, Dylan Moore and Taylor Trammell will all be in the mix to fill the void left by Kelenic. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Mariners look for a replacement option at the trade deadline with Kelenic out for at least another month.

Thu Jul 20 202314:29Jarred Kelenic Placed On 10-Day Injured List With Foot Fracture
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left foot fracture. It was also revealed that Kelenic broke his foot while kicking a water cooler after striking out in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Kelenic has had a nice season, hitting .252 with 11 homer runs, 12 stolen bases, and a .759 OPS across 90 appearances on the season. However, the former top prospect has cooled off significantly following a hot start. Since May 1, the 24-year-old is hitting .230 with four homers, seven steals, a 34.5% K%, and a .673 OPS across 64 games, good for an 86 wRC+ that sits 14% below the league average. Outfield prospect Cade Marlowe has been recalled from Triple-A to take Kelenic's spot on the roster.

Sat Jul 8 202316:37Jarred Kelenic Absent On Saturday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Houston Astros. The lefty slugger will get a routine rest day here against left-hander Framber Valdez. The Mariners will play matchups and have Dylan Moore cover right field and bat ninth on Saturday. Fantasy managers looking for a DFS option on Saturday should look elsewhere. Valdez has been sharp this season and Moore is unlikely to have a ton of value at the bottom of the order.

Wed Jun 28 202315:15Jarred Kelenic Takes A Seat Against Lefty
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic will start on the bench on Wednesday with the team facing a left-hander on the mound. Dylan Moore will get the start in left field and will bat eighth in the lineup against Washington Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin. Kelenic has fared well against southpaws in 2023, but the M's will take the opportunity to get him some rest with the team facing a lefty for the first time in 16 days. It's probably a good time to give the 23-year-old lefty hitter a day off, too, as he's hitting just .167 (12-for-72) in the month of May with 33 strikeouts in 21 games played. It has dropped his season line to .247/.326/.449 with 11 home runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 35 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 34 runs scored in 74 games. Kelenic will be back in there on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays after an off day on Thursday.

Thu Jun 22 202316:11Jarred Kelenic Batting Leadoff Against Yankees
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff on Thursday against the New York Yankees and right-hander Domingo German in the Bronx. With the Mariners offense struggling to get anything going, they will give Kelenic his second start out of the leadoff spot this season. Kelenic is delivering as a post-hype sleeper in 2023, hitting .260 (64-for-246) with 11 home runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 34 RBI, eight stolen bases and 30 runs scored in 68 games (274 plate appearances). He hasn't been nearly as good in June, though, going just 10-for-51 (.196) with a homer, eight RBI and 22 punchouts in 15 games played. Kelenic will attempt to extend his modest hitting streak to four games on Thursday.

Mon Jun 12 202318:07Jarred Kelenic Absent On Monday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is not in Monday's starting lineup against Miami Marlins left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Predictably, the Mariners are stacking right-handed bats against the young southpaw which leaves the lefty-swinging Kelenic on the bench after going 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout Sunday afternoon. The 23-year-old came out of the gate white-hot in the month of April but cooled off in May while posting a .250 average and .727 OPS for the month. Nonetheless, fantasy managers should be satisfied with the 11 home runs, seven stolen bases, and .822 OPS he has posted to this point in the season. Dylan Moore gets the start in left field Monday night in Seattle.

Tue May 30 202312:32Jarred Kelenic Steals Career-High Seventh Base
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic continued to produce for his fantasy managers in the team's 10-4 loss to the visiting New York Yankees on Monday night, when he went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a strikeout and his seventh stolen base of the season. Kelenic's seventh stolen base of the year set a new career-high. Along with the stolen bases, the 23-year-old is rewarding those that bought into his post-hype breakout in 2023. After Monday's performance, Kelenic is now hitting .283 (54-for-191) with 14 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs, 26 RBI, seven steals and 27 runs scored in 52 games. He's finishing the month of May strong, too, going 13-for-46 (.283) with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI in his last 12 games.

Tue May 23 202311:57Jarred Kelenic Homers Again, Continues Breakout Year
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored during Monday's 11-2 triumph over the Oakland Athletics. The 24-year-old is now hitting .297 with 10 bombs, 25 RBI, 25 runs scored, and six stolen bases this season. That's good for standing inside the top-12 of fantasy outfielders in mixed roto leagues. Kelenic is logging a strong .326 average with three big flies, nine RBI and 10 runs scored in his last 11 games. Fantasy managers who took a shot on the former top prospect in the later rounds of drafts have to be elated with Kelenic's third-year leap. He's seventh in the American League in weighted on-base average at .388 as well.

Wed Apr 26 202317:14Jarred Kelenic Hitting Third Against Phillies
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is making the start in left field and is hitting third in the team's batting order on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Taijuan Walker. Kelenic has earned a bump up the batting order for Seattle with his strong start to the 2023 campaign. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run on Tuesday against the Phillies and is now slashing a cool .342/.395/.726 with a league-leading 1.121 OPS, seven doubles, seven home runs, 14 RBI, three stolen bases and 11 runs scored in 81 plate appearances and 21 games played. Many folks were hoping Kelenic would have a post-hype breakout season in 2023 after two tough seasons in the big leagues, and that's exactly what is happening as we close in on the first month of the season.

Sun Apr 23 202321:01Jarred Kelenic Goes Deep On Sunday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. The 23-year-old put the M's on the board in the bottom of the second inning when he took Jack Flaherty to the opposite field, depositing a solo homer run over the left field wall. The former top-prospect has been a revelation for Seattle this season, slashing a surprising .319/.377/.667 to go along with six home runs, 13 RBI, and three stolen bases over 69 at-bats. Kelenic is paying big dividends for the Mariners and fantasy managers that took a flyer on him so far this year.

Mon Apr 10 202316:51Jarred Kelenic To Sit Out Versus Left-Hander
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Chicago Cubs. As expected, Kelenic will get the night off with left-hander Drew Smyly on the mound for the Cubbies. The 23-year-old appears to be in a platoon role, but that's fine as long as he continues to hit well. Right now, Kelenic is hitting .286 with two RBI and two steals this season. AJ Pollock will cover left field and bat fifth versus Smyly on Monday.

Fri Mar 24 202311:09Jarred Kelenic Has A Hit In His Return
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (quadriceps) made his return to the team's Cactus League lineup and played left field on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds and went 1-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout in the 17-6 blowout win. Kelenic will be ready for Opening Day next Thursday and has been flexing his muscles this spring with a .410 average (16-for-39) with two doubles, two triples, four home runs, nine RBI, eight runs scored and three stolen bases in 15 Cactus League games. The 23-year-old has nothing left to prove in the minors, but he hasn't quite figures major-league pitching out in parts of two seasons, hitting just .168/.251/.338 with 21 home runs, 60 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 167 strikeouts in 558 plate appearances. Kelenic could be a classic post-hype sleeper in 2023.

Thu Mar 23 202316:27Jarred Kelenic Back In Lineup
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (quadriceps) is in Thursday's Cactus League game vs. the Cincinnati Reds. Kelenic will bat sixth and play left field. He was pulled from a game earlier this week with left quad tightness, but everything appears to be fine now. The lefty is hitting .410 with a .439 on-base percentage and four home runs through 39 at-bats this spring. He's been rising up draft boards after the hot start to spring, and his ADP currently sits at 262.7.

Mon Mar 20 202321:18Jarred Kelenic Pulled From Monday's Game
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (quad) was removed early during Monday's Cactus League game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Manager Scott Servais mentioned that Kelenic was pulled as a precaution. It sounds like the left-handed slugger is dealing with a minor quad issue. The team is considering him day-to-day, so hopefully he won't land on the injured list. The 23-year-old has been significantly rising in fantasy drafts over the last two weeks. He's hitting ,410 with four home runs and nine RBI with three stolen bases this spring.

Wed Mar 15 202300:45Jarred Kelenic Playing With Confidence This Spring
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic has brought an increased focus to spring so far, and it has shown. The 23-year-old, while still playing with high intensity, has produced a stellar .448/.484/1.000 slash line with four home runs, nine RBI and three stolen bases in 31 plate appearances. Fantasy managers are well-acquainted with Kelenic, as the former top prospect has had a highly disappointing career to this point. However, he is still young and possesses intriguing power and speed. If he can corral his strikeouts and finally bring his spring production into the regular season, he could be a fantasy steal. His current average draft position is 287.

Fri Mar 10 202317:31Jarred Kelenic Drives In Two, Continues Torrid Spring
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI, a walk and a run scored in Friday's Cactus League game versus the Cincinnati Reds. Kelenic has been on fire during the spring and is now hitting .429, with four of his nine hits going for home runs. Kelenic doesn't have a clear path to playing time after struggling to begin his career, and the Mariners added AJ Pollock and Teoscar Hernandez to their outfield this offseason. However, Kelenic may be playing his way into the strong side of a platoon with Pollock to begin the year. He's been hitting third in the Mariners lineup recently, though it's hard to imagine him hitting there during the season. He is RotoBaller's 86th-ranked outfielder but could move up considerably if he wins a share of the starting job.

Fri Sep 30 202214:30Jarred Kelenic Goes Yard Twice Against Rangers
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic was one of the big bats in an offensive explosion between the Mariners and Texas Rangers on Thursday. Kelenic went 2-for-5 with two long balls, three RBI, three runs scored and two strikeouts in the 10-9 win over Texas. The 23-year-old left-handed slugger is hitting just .157/.222/.357 with seven home runs, 17 RBI, 20 runs scored and five stolen bases in 153 plate appearances over 47 games in his second MLB season with Seattle. However, he's come alive since rejoining the team this month, going 8-for-27 (.296) with three homers, five RBI and eight runs scored in seven games played. Kelenic should continue to play every day for Seattle until Julio Rodriguez (back) returns from the injured list next week.
