Sat May 30 201522:18Navarro (hamstring) on schedule to return to Blue Jays Monday
Navarro (hamstring) is on schedule to return to the Blue Jays Monday, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Navarro hit a two-run home run in his rehab start Saturday. He has been on the disabled list four times in his career but this trip to the disabled list has lasted five weeks. Navarro said that he is eager to get back with the Blue Jays on Monday.

Navarro (hamstring) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Sportsnet's Barry Davis reports.
Navarro is nearly five weeks removed from suffering the hamstring strain, and this is the first update the Blue Jays have provided since mid-May. While Navarro will likely play at least two or three games during his rehab assignment, the level and location suggest he should be back with the Blue Jays before long. Once Navarro is ready, Josh Thole will likely be demoted to Triple-A Buffalo.

Navarro is progressing slowly in his recovery from a left hamstring strain and remains without a timetable for a return, Sportsnet.ca reports.
Little has been reported in terms of Navarro's progress in the weeks since he hit the 15-day DL, and it seems that's because there's nothing much to report. "Still recovering, hamstring isn't there, hasn't started a rehab assignment yet," was all GM Alex Anthopoulos offered up Friday. Josh Thole will continue serving as the backup to Russell Martin for the time being.

Navarro's hamstring injury is worse than Blue Jays manager John Gibbons originally thought, John Lott of the National Post reports. "He's got a nice little tear in there," Gibbons said Thursday afternoon.
Navarro was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday morning, and it sounds as if he probably won't be ready after the minimum 15 days. Josh Thole was recalled to serve as Russell Martin's backup, but Justin Smoak and Danny Valencia could also pick up some extra at-bats, as Navarro has thus far seen most of his playing time as a designated hitter.
Thu Apr 23 201511:28Dioner Navarro: (Hamstring) To The DL
Navarro was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday with a strained left hamstring.
He came up limp running the bases on Tuesday and the move will be backdated to Apr. 22. Josh Thole was recalled as a result to serve as the backup catcher. In the short term Navarro's absence could lead to some more at-bats for Justin Smoak.

Navarro went 1-for-4 as the team's DH in Monday's Opening Day win over the Yankees.
Navarro dealt with a minor knee injury in the spring, but appears to be back to full health heading into the regular season. The 31-year-old will serve primarily as Russell Martin's backup behind the plate, but he should also see some at bats as the club's designated hitter.
Mon Mar 16 201511:50Navarro (knee) returned to lineup Sunday as DH
Navarro (knee) returned to the lineup Sunday as the DH, but won't catch for a few days, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
Navarro went 2-for-4 in his return while batting cleanup. This injury should just be a blip on his radar as Navarro lost the full-time catching role to Russell Martin, who was acquired in the offseason. Navarro hit 12 home runs and drove in 69 runs while hitting .274. His ability to retain eligibility as a catcher will keep his value higher even if he's only catching once or twice a week as he should be the team's designated hitter.
Tue Mar 10 201509:33Navarro suffered minor knee injury Monday
Navarro suffered a minor knee injury Monday, mlb.com's Gregor Chisholm reports.
Navarro is only expected to miss a few days, so the injury shouldn't change much. He likely still hopes to be traded to a team that needs a starting catcher, but he at least figures to see some at bats as a designated hitter if the Jays hold onto him as Russell Martin's backup.
Mon Feb 23 201513:12Navarro will compete for at-bats at DH this season
Navarro will compete for at-bats at DH this season, MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reports.
This is in addition to his status as the Jays' backup catcher, so there is a chance that two backstops in Toronto return value in deeper leagues this season. Navarro did not shy away from admitting to the media Monday that he hopes to be traded before the start of the season to a team where he can be an everyday catcher, but said he would be a pro about the situation if he remains with the Blue Jays. Justin Smoak and Danny Valencia will also compete for at-bats at DH, but Navarro has proven to be a better hitter than both of those players lately, so he should not be counted out because of his status as the backup catcher. His situation will be one worth monitoring throughout spring training.

Navarro is on track to open the season as the backup in Toronto behind Russell Martin, the Blue Jays' official site reports.
Injuries elsewhere may drum up interest in Navarro on the trade market. Signed to a two-year deal by the Blue Jays last offseason, Navarro is owed $5 million in 2015. With twice as many at-bats as he received in 2013, Navarro hit one fewer home run (12) last season while carrying a .274/.317/.395 line for Toronto. If he remains on the roster, Navarro could also compete with Justin Smoak for at-bats, pushing Edwin Encarnacion to first base and allowing the backup catcher to see time as the team's DH.
Sun Sep 28 201410:54Navarro out of lineup Sunday against Orioles
Navarro is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.
Navarro will sit as he always does when the Jays start R.A. Dickey, ending his season with a .274/.317/.395 line.
Fri Sep 19 201415:59Navarro (head) back in lineup Friday against Yankees
Navarro (head) is back in the lineup Friday against the Yankees, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Navarro was afforded two days to shake the cobwebs after taking a foul ball off his catcher's mask Tuesday, but he'll step back in Friday to face right-hander Hiroki Kuroda. While Navarro is batting .317/.383/.561 so far this month, he's just 1-for-6 with a single in his career against Kuroda.
Thu Sep 18 201415:46Navarro (head) not in lineup Thursday against Yankees
Navarro (head) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Yankees, Barry Davis of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Navarro will sit for a second straight day, after taking a foul ball off his facemask during Tuesday's game. Josh Thole is the personal catcher for Thursday's starter R.A. Dickey, so Navarro would have sat anyway. Consider Navarro day-to-day ahead of Friday's tilt.
Wed Sep 17 201417:28Updating previous report
Updating a previous report, Navarro is out of the lineup Wednesday after he took a foul ball off his catcher's mask Tuesday night, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
The Blue Jays will presumably put Navarro through a number of tests to determine whether or not he suffered a concussion as a result of the incident. Since the team is effectively out of the running for a Wild Card berth, it wouldn't be surprising if Navarro is kept out a few days as a precaution. Josh Thole and George Kottaras would serve as the Jays' primary catchers until Navarro is cleared to return.
Wed Sep 17 201415:57Navarro not in lineup Wednesday
Navarro is not in the lineup Wednesday, SportsNet's Barry Davis reports.
This is just a standard day off for Navarro. Josh Thole will get the nod behind the dish.
Sat Sep 13 201410:17Navarro not in lineup Saturday against Rays
Navarro is not in the lineup Saturday against the Rays, Barry Davis of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Josh Thole will handle his normal duties as R.A. Dickey's personal catcher, as Navarro sits following an 0-for-4, three-strikeout performance Friday. Despite the poor showing, Navarro is still batting .379 with two homers so far in September.

Navarro went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run scored and one double Monday against the Cubs.
Navarro has recorded at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 games, raising his average from .271 to .285 in the process. He is having the best offensive season of his career as he also has 12 home runs and a career-high 65 RBI.
Sun Sep 7 201412:19Navarro out of lineup Sunday against Red Sox
Navarro is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
Navarro will get the day game off Sunday following a string of four straight starts behind the plate for the Blue Jays. Josh Thole will catch Sunday and bat sixth for the Red Sox.
Wed Sep 3 201423:27Navarro 2-2 with pair of walks and two-run home run in Jays' win...
Navarro was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and a two-run home run in the Jays' win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.
He has put together a solid season and now has 12 home runs and 61 RBI to go with a respectable .283 average. He gets the majority of the work behind the plate with the Jays and can be a useful catcher in most fantasy formats.
Tue Aug 26 201416:09Navarro out of lineup Tuesday against Red Sox
Navarro is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
Navarro has put up modest output at the plate over the last eight games, as he's hit .238 (5-for-21) with one homer, four RBI, three runs, and three walks versus five strikeouts. In his stead, Josh Thole will man the backstop and bat eighth in the order.
