Sat May 28 202214:09Daulton Varsho Back In Lineup Saturday
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Daulton Varsho (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff on Saturday against Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Varsho left the game early on Friday with right shoulder soreness, but he's right back in there on Saturday. The 25-year-old backstop is a solid fantasy asset at the weakest position in fantasy. In 44 games this year, he's slashing .266/.337/.481 with an .818 OPS, eight home runs, 21 RBI, 24 runs scored and three stolen bases in 178 plate appearances. In his last nine games, Varsho is hitting .333 with two long balls, three doubles, five RBI and nine runs scored. Get him back into your lineups.

Varsho didn't start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader but will return to the leadoff spot in the order on Wednesday. He'll also start at catcher. The 25-year-old is hitting .246 with a .324 on-base percentage, six home runs, and three stolen bases in 139 plate appearances this season.

Mon May 16 202212:14Daulton Varsho Continues Torrid May
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho has been on fire in the month of May, slashing .326/.396/.605 with two homers and a steal. He's recorded a hit in ten of his 11 games this month. With many of the top options at catcher struggling to start the year, Varsho has solidified himself as a strong choice at the position. Though he was playing predominantly in center field prior to the recall of Alek Thomas, he's been behind the plate of late, meaning there may be a few more off days heading his way, but also that he's certain to retain eligibility entering future seasons. He's a strong play this week with eight games on the schedule.

Sat Apr 30 202212:41Daulton Varsho Gets A Rest Day
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder/catcher Daulton Varsho isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. This appears to be a routine day off for the 25-year-old who has played a ton recently. In fact, Varsho has started in 19 of the first 22 games of the season. Although, his bat has been slow with a .211/.293/.394 slash line and four home runs with two steals. Jordan Luplow will bat second and cover center field versus righty Miles Mikolas on Saturday. A favorable spot in the batting order for Luplow, but Mikolas is a tough matchup for him.

Thu Apr 21 202214:10Daulton Varsho Not In The Lineup Thursday
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Washington Nationals. It will be just Varsho's second game on the bench this season. The 25-year-old catcher/outfielder is hitting just .184 in his first 12 games through 47 plate appearances, but he homered on Tuesday and Wednesday and has three home runs and five RBI. Varsho is striking out 29.8% of the time in the early going, but his power from the left side of the plate is valuable at the weakest position in fantasy. With Varsho out on Thursday, Jake McCarthy is getting the nod in center field and will bat eighth against Nationals left-hander Josh Rogers. McCarthy has two singles in 17 at-bats to begin the season and is a poor DFS choice.

Wed Apr 13 202214:33Daulton Varsho On The Bench Wednesday
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Daulton Varsho isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Houston Astros and left-handed starter Framber Valdez. Varsho has a hit and five walks in his first 19 plate appearances for Arizona this season. He batted .246 with a .318 on-base percentage, 11 home runs, and six stolen bases in 315 plate appearances last season. The 25-year-old has been starting regularly in center field for the Diamondbacks this season, but will head to the bench with Jake McCarthy getting the start and batting seventh against Valdez. McCarthy has collected a hit and a pair of runs scored in four plate appearances this season.

Thu Apr 7 202216:54Daulton Varsho Leading Off On Opening Day
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder/catcher Daulton Varsho is serving as the team's leadoff hitter on Opening Day against right-hander Yu Darvish and the San Diego Padres. Varsho is starting in center field for the game. This is an ideal scenario for Varsho from a fantasy perspective. The 25-year-old is catcher-eligible in fantasy leagues, but should be seeing most of his time in center field this year with Carson Kelly as the team's primary catcher and Jose Herrera as Kelly's main backup. Varsho has struggled over his 132 major league games the past two years, slashing just .231/.310/.418. However, he showed 20-20 potential in the minors as well as excellent plate discipline. If he can adjust to big league pitching and remain the team's leadoff hitter for the year, he's going to be a fantasy gem almost by default.

Sun Apr 3 202214:02Daulton Varsho With Three Home Runs This Spring
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho has hit three home runs so far this spring, giving us a glimpse of the power potential he has. He's played in 10 games and he's slashing .200/.273/.533. The 25-year-old is slated to be the team's primary center fielder this year while also getting some starts behind the place. That setup could equate to fantasy gold. Varsho could potentially be a de facto outfielder who is catcher eligible for fantasy managers. Last year, over 95 games in the majors, he slashed .246/.318/.437 with 11 home runs, six stolen bases, 38 RBI and 41 runs. He's ranked as the fourth overall catcher in the RotoBaller rankings. We've yet to see him put it all together offensively in the majors, but if he can, he'll end up being an absolute steal in drafts.

Thu Sep 23 202113:16Daulton Varsho Heading To The Bench For Thursday's Game
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Atlanta Braves. The team is going with Carson Kelly behind the plate and Jake McCarthy in center field. Varsho has been a regular in the lineup over the second half of the year and he's strung together some decent stats, especially compared to other catcher-eligible players. Over 15 games in September, he's slashed .259/.283/.466 with two home runs, two stolen bases, eight RBI and seven runs. Fantasy managers in need of catcher help for the final 10 days of the year should take a hard look at Varsho if he's available.

Sun Aug 22 202113:51Daulton Varsho Homers In Loss Saturday
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho went 2-for 4 with a home run, one RBI and a run scored in a 5-2 loss to the Rockies on Saturday. It was Varsho's seventh homer of the season, as he's now slashing .224/.331/.410 with 20 RBI and 24 runs scored over 61 games. After a disappointing rookie campaign in 2020, Varsho has become a solid option in deeper formats and two-catcher leagues this season.
