SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed left fielder David Peralta on the 10-day injured list with an injured right shoulder.The Diamondbacks also called up first baseman Kevin Cron and outfielder Tim Locastro from Triple-A Reno on Friday. Arizona had an open spot on the 25-man roster after sending pitcher Jimmie Sherfy down to the minors.Peralta is leading Arizona in batting with a .309 average with seven homers, 16 doubles and 30 RBIs this season. Peralta is the second key hitter placed on the IL this week for the Diamondbacks. Infielder Wilmer Flores was sidelined earlier this week with a broken right foot.Cron was batting .339 with 21 homers and 62 RBIs for Reno this season.Locastro has played six games this season for Arizona, batting .235 in 17 at-bats.Arizona will have to make an additional move before Saturday's game against San Francisco to make room for projected starter Taylor Clarke.__More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/tag/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

1B Kevin Cron was named organization's player of the year after being named the Southern League MVP at Double-A Mobile this season. Cron hit .283 with 35 doubles, 25 home runs and 91 RBIs in 138 games, becoming the second player in 41 years to lead the league in homers. He had 25 home runs at Mobile in 2016. "Bouncing back from 2016, I was able this year to make some adjustments and see the ball much better," Cron said. "I think I really did a good job of kind of finding out who I was as a hitter and what pitches I can handle, and day-in and day-out executing a plan. That was something I did way better than I ever had."

1B Kevin Cron, son of Arizona minor league hitting coordinator Chris Cron and brother of Angles 1B C.J. Cron, was named the Southern League Player of the Year. He leads the league in homers (23), RBIs (87), extra-base hits (58), is second in doubles (35) and third in slugging percentage (489). He is slashing .280/.353/.489. Kevin was a 14th-round draft pick in 2014. Arizona 3B Jake Lamb was the Southern League MVP in 2014.

1B Kevin Cron hit three homers runs at Double-A Jackson on Saturday and homered again in his first at-bat Sunday. Cron, who led the Southern League with 26 homers last season, hit his first homer Saturday against top White Sox prospect Michael Kopech. Cron is the son of Arizona hitting coordinator and former major league Chris Cron and brother of Angels 1B C.J. Cron.
