Mon May 29 202312:12Josh Naylor Back In Action Monday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (foot) is back in the starting lineup on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Tyler Wells. Naylor is starting at first base and batting cleanup. The 25-year-old was not in Sunday's lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals after he fouled a ball off his left foot in Saturday's game, but he's back in there to begin the new week. X-rays on his foot came back negative. Naylor is hitting .257 (18-for-70) with three doubles, four home runs, 17 RBI and a stolen base in 20 games in the month of May. He's hitting much better against righties as well, going 30-for-116 (.259) with six of his seven homers on the year against them. Get Naylor back into your lineups on Monday.

Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor went 3-for-5 with a homer and five RBI in a 10-9 loss to the New York Mets in 10 innings on Friday. Naylor got the Guardians off to a fast start, smacking a three-run homer off of Carlos Carrasco in the first inning. The homer traveled 397 feet and had an exit velocity of 105.8 MPH. The veteran infielder is now hitting .233 with seven homers, 12 runs, 31 RBI, and three steals across 133 at-bats. He has been red-hot at the plate of late, hitting .375 with four homers and 12 RBI in his last seven contests. Naylor should be locked into fantasy lineups while he's swinging a hot bat.

Wed May 17 202310:00Josh Naylor Removed From Tuesday's Contest Early
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (leg) left Tuesday's game against the Chicago White Sox in the sixth inning after dealing with left leg tightness, according to MLB.com. The Canadian will undergo testing, and there should be more information about the situation on Wednesday. Naylor's numbers aren't too exciting this season, as he's hitting .219 with six homers, 11 runs, 26 RBI, and three steals. But since May 10, the 25-year-old owns a .462/.533/.1.154 slash line. Naylor is valuable in just about every league and format, so hopefully, everything comes back clean. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day and check back in for more updates.

Fri Feb 10 202313:43Josh Naylor Likely To Skip World Baseball Classic
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (ankle) will likely skip the 2023 World Baseball Classic after aggravating a right ankle injury late in the postseason. Naylor initially injured the ankle in 2021 and began the 2022 season late. Despite playing through his ankle injury last year, he hit .256 with a .771 OPS, 20 home runs, 28 doubles and 79 RBI for the Guardians. This offseason, he was able to have more of a normal routine, including some upper-body work he had to neglect last winter. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter still struggled against left-handed pitching in 2022, but his dominance against righties should at least keep him in the lineup more often than not. Naylor also doesn't strike out too much, so if he improves against lefties, there will be even more to like.

Fri Jan 13 202315:50Guardians, Josh Naylor Avoid Arbitration
The Cleveland Guardians and first baseman/outfielder Josh Naylor avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.35 million deal on Friday. Naylor had by far his best season in the big leagues for Cleveland last year, posting career-highs in home runs (20), RBI (79), runs scored (47) and stolen bases (six) in 122 games while slashing .256/.319/.452 with a .771 OPS. The 25-year-old left-handed slugger from Canada has hit just .209 in his career against left-handed pitchers in four seasons, though, so he loses a lot of mixed league value for fantasy managers as a platoon player for the Guardians.

Fri Oct 7 202210:10Josh Naylor Starting Against Lefty In Game 1
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor is starting at first base and is hitting fifth in the batting order for Game 1 of the American League Wild-Card Series against the Tampa Bay Rays and left-hander Shane McClanahan on Friday. It's an interesting choice for the first game of a three-game series, as Naylor hit just .173 (19-for-110) with one of his 20 home runs this season against left-handed pitchers. He's been swinging a hot stick in 12 games since Sept. 19, though, going 13-for-45 (.289) with three home runs, 13 RBI, seven walks, eight runs scored and a stolen base.

Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor participated in the onslaught on the Minnesota Twins on Monday, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, a double, and a walk during the 11-4 contest. It ended the 25-year-old's 11-game homeless streak and was his first multi-hit game in his last 10. Naylor's having the best offensive season of his career, slashing .256/.316/.447 with 18 HRs, 40 runs, 69 RBI, and five steals across 111 games. He might not be a superstar, but his numbers make him a useful player in just about every league.

Naylor has been dealing with soreness in his right ankle off and on of late, with the issue occasionally forcing him to sit out a day or two. Look for Cleveland to update Naylor's status after Monday's game concludes. Naylor is hitting .273 with 15 homers, 33 runs, 57 RBI, and three steals over 300 at-bats in 2022.

Sat Jul 30 202212:34Josh Naylor Scratched With Ankle Soreness
Cleveland Guardians outfielder/first baseman Josh Naylor (ankle) was scratched from the starting lineup on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays due to right ankle soreness. Naylor also missed the game on Friday, and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. The 25-year-old has been a solid contributor this year, slashing .282/.332/.514 with an .846 OPS, 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 32 runs scored and two stolen bases, so hopefully he's not out for long. Owen Miller is now starting at the cold corner and hitting cleanup against Rays right-hander Corey Kluber. Miller is in a great lineup spot to produce counting stats in DFS, but he's also hitting just .222 (6-for-27) with no homers and two RBI in the last two weeks of action.

Sat Jul 23 202211:34Josh Naylor Not Starting In Game 1
Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder Josh Naylor is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. Naylor is getting a normal day of rest and should return to the starting lineup for the second game of the doubleheader. Owen Miller is taking over at first base and hitting sixth against White Sox right-hander Johnny Cueto in Game 1. Sat Jul 9 202213:12Josh Naylor Back In The Lineup On Saturday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (back) is back in the lineup on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. The 25-year-old has been dealing with back spasms, which have forced him to miss four of the last five games. He's batting cleanup against Royals' right-hander Jonathan Heasley on Saturday afternoon and should be re-inserted into fantasy lineups. Naylor is slashing a solid .279/.335/.513 with 11 home runs, 43 RBI, and one stolen base over 197 at-bats this season.

Fri Jul 8 202219:02Josh Naylor Scratched Late Friday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder Josh Naylor was scratched from Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Naylor was originally in the lineup, but was removed just prior to game time. Naylor has been battling back issues for the past week, and his absence is likely related to that. Hopefully he can put these issues to rest soon, as he's enjoying a nice breakout campaign this season with a .276/.332/.510 slash line to go along with 11 home runs in 196 at-bats. Keep an eye on Naylor's status over the weekend and be ready to replace him if need be.

Tue Jul 5 202218:38Josh Naylor A Late Scratch On Tuesday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (back) was a late scratch from the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. No official word has been given yet for the reasoning of the scratch, but it's likely related to the back spasms he was suffering on Monday. He began experiencing back spasms in the first game of the team's doubleheader on Monday and sat out Game 2. While he was originally inserted into Tuesday's lineup as the team's first baseman and cleanup hitter, Richie Palacios is now part of the lineup as the team's left fielder and Owen Miller will be covering first.

Mon Jul 4 202216:15Josh Naylor Leaves Early With Back Spasms
Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder Josh Naylor (back) left Game 1 of a doubleheader early against the Detroit Tigers on Monday due to back spasms. It remains to be seen if he'll return to the lineup for Game 2, but it's probably unlikely. The good news for fantasy managers is that Naylor went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a walk and a strikeout before departing the contest. For now, consider the 25-year-old as day-to-day. Entering Monday's games, he was slashing a solid .273/.327/.495 with an .822 OPS, 10 home runs, 42 RBI, 23 runs scored and a stolen base in 214 plate appearances over 53 games played. Owen Miller replaced Naylor in the game and could get the start at first base in the nightcap.

Tue May 31 202214:52Josh Naylor Sitting Against Lefty
Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder Josh Naylor is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday against Kansas City Royals left-hander Daniel Lynch. Outfielder Steven Kwan will also take a seat for Cleveland. Naylor has been great for fantasy managers so far this year, slashing .287/.342/.515 with an .857 OPS, six home runs, 25 RBI and 13 runs scored in 111 plate appearances over 28 games, but he's hitting just .222 with one homer and three RBI against lefties and .130 (3-for-23) in the last seven days. It's a good time for a day of rest for Naylor. Owen Miller is at first base and is batting cleanup on Tuesday, while third baseman Jose Ramirez serves as the designated hitter against KC. Miller has been decent against left-handers this year, hitting .278 (10-for-36) with two homers and six RBI against them.

Fri May 20 202216:56Josh Naylor Activated, But Not Starting Friday
The Cleveland Guardians have activated outfielder/first baseman Josh Naylor from the COVID-19 injured list. He is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers, but he will be available off the bench. Owen Miller will once again be starting at first base in Friday's game. Naylor has been extremely impressive so far this year. Over 20 games, he's slashing .347/.377/.611 with five home runs, 22 RBI and 10 runs. Fri May 13 202215:52Josh Naylor Placed On COVID Injured List
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Josh Naylor was placed on the COVID-19 injured list on Friday. Infielder Richie Palacios has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Infielder Yu Chang was also activated from the COVID injured list, while Kirk McCarty was optioned to the minors. Naylor has been swinging a hot bat this year, so it's a big blow to the Guardians and fantasy managers alike, but hopefully he won't be out for more than a week. The 24-year-old is slashing a terrific .347/.377/.611 with a .988 OPS, five home runs, 22 RBI and 10 runs scored in his first 20 games. Naylor should remain rostered in all single-year fantasy leagues.

Tue May 10 202200:46Josh Naylor Plates Eight Monday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Josh Naylor had a massive day at the plate in Monday's 12-9 extra-innings win over the White Sox. Naylor went 3-for-5 with a double, a ninth-inning grand slam, an 11th-inning three-run home run, eight RBI, a walk, and two strikeouts. The 24-year-old was quite the catalyst in this game and is now slashing .338/.370/.574 with four HR and 21 RBI through 73 plate appearances. Naylor has been hitting well and is worth keeping an eye on in deep leagues, but his 7.7-degree launch angle will make it tough to maintain his slugging percentage.
