Fri Sep 30 202200:33Cal Quantrill Allows One Run In No-Decision
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Cal Quantrill had a nice outing on Thursday, tossing six innings of one-run ball in his club's 2-1 win over the Rays. He allowed just three hits on the night while striking out four and walking no one in his 89-pitch effort, but still had to settle for a no-decision. The only run he allowed came in the first frame when David Peralta cashed in with an RBI single, but he was locked in the rest of the way and finished the game by retiring the last 10 batters he faced. The 27-year-old will carry a 3.42 ERA and 1.22 WHIP through 188 1/3 IP into his final regular season start versus the Royals next week.

Tue Aug 30 202221:21Cal Quantrill Wins 11th Game On Tuesday
Cleveland Guardians starter Cal Quantrill shut down the Baltimore Orioles through six innings of work, giving up just one run with four strikeouts, three walks, and one hit. The start earned him his 11th victory of the year. Quantrill is following up his breakout 2021 with another solid season, posting a 3.50 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 25 starts. The only problem with the right-hander is his inefficient strikeout numbers, fanning just 98 batters in 149 innings. Quantrill has value in most leagues, but his strikeout numbers will continue to hold him back.

Tue Jun 7 202221:06Cal Quantrill Gets A Win On Tuesday
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Cal Quantrill threw seven innings of three-run ball on Tuesday, earning the quality start and the win against the Texas Rangers to bring his record to 3-3. He allowed eight hits, two home runs, and one walk, and produced three strikeouts. Quantrill has been impressive again after a solid season last year, posting a 3.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts over 60.2 innings pitched. Although the 27-year-old's peripherals don't support his success (4.27 xERA), he's outperformed in the past two seasons, so if it continues much further, fantasy managers might have to buy in.

Sat Apr 23 202212:35Cal Quantrill Activated, Set To Start On Saturday
The Cleveland Guardians have activated starting pitcher Cal Quantrill from the COVID-19 related injured list. He is set to start Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. The 27-year-old has made two starts so far this year and the results have been somewhat mixed. He's pitched a total of 9.2 innings while allowing six hits, four walks and four earned runs. He's compiled four strikeouts across his two starts. The most concerning thing out of the gate for Quantrill is his reduced velocity. Last year, he averaged 94.3 mph on his primary pitch, his sinker. This year, that's down to 92.7 mph. The average velocity on his other primary pitch, his cutter, is also down from 88.4 mph last year to 87.0 mph this year. We'll see if he can get his velocity back up and generate some better results against a struggling Yankees lineup on Saturday.

Cleveland Guardians infielder Owen Miller and pitcher Cal Quantrill have been placed on the injured list. They will be joined by fellow pitcher Anthony Castro on the IL with no injury designation given. That being said, this is probably COVID related, which could mean these players miss some time. Miller has been hitting well during his time in the MLB and Quantrill was scheduled to start against the New York Yankees on Friday. In the meantime, pitchers Kirk McCarty, Tanner Tully, and Enyel De Los Santos have been recalled to the active roster.

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Cal Quantrill allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five in six innings of work in a 6-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics Wednesday night. It was a solid night for Quantrill who's only two earned runs were inherited runners that Bryan Shaw allowed to score in the top of the seventh inning. He should be added in any leagues where he may be available and should have a solid matchup next week against the Minnesota Twins.
