The 27-year-old has made two starts so far this year and the results have been somewhat mixed. He's pitched a total of 9.2 innings while allowing six hits, four walks and four earned runs. He's compiled four strikeouts across his two starts. The most concerning thing out of the gate for Quantrill is his reduced velocity. Last year, he averaged 94.3 mph on his primary pitch, his sinker. This year, that's down to 92.7 mph. The average velocity on his other primary pitch, his cutter, is also down from 88.4 mph last year to 87.0 mph this year. We'll see if he can get his velocity back up and generate some better results against a struggling Yankees lineup on Saturday.

Cleveland Guardians infielder Owen Miller and pitcher Cal Quantrill have been placed on the injured list. They will be joined by fellow pitcher Anthony Castro on the IL with no injury designation given. That being said, this is probably COVID related, which could mean these players miss some time. Miller has been hitting well during his time in the MLB and Quantrill was scheduled to start against the New York Yankees on Friday. He should be added in any leagues where he may be available and should have a solid matchup next week against the Minnesota Twins.

Quantrill has now allowed one earned run or fewer in each of his previous four starts and is certainly worthy of a speculative add moving forward. His next start will come this weekend at home against the Detroit Tigers.
