Mon May 30 202212:53Royce Lewis Lands On Injured List
The Minnesota Twins placed shortstop prospect Royce Lewis (knee) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a right knee bone bruise that he suffered while playing in center field against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Infield prospect Jose Miranda, who had been sent down on Sunday, has been recalled from Triple-A St. Paul. Lewis made his major league debut on May 6 and has hit .300 (12-for-40) with two home runs, four doubles and five RBI. He deserves to be stashed in AL-only leagues. Miranda made his big-league debut on May 2 and has played in 19 games for the Twins, going 11-for-67 with a homer, five doubles, five RBI and four runs scored. He's starting at first base and batting seventh on Monday against Detroit Tigers right-hander Beau Brieske.

Mon May 30 202211:15Royce Lewis Diagnosed With Bone Bruise
Minnesota Twins shortstop Royce Lewis (knee) has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right knee after he was injured on Sunday. The team wants to wait a few days for the swelling to go down before they re-evaluate him. Skipper Rocco Baldelli said that Lewis will likely require a trip to the injured list, but the Twins will wait a few days to make that call. The 22-year-old former first-rounder has been excelling in a super-utility role for Minnesota in the first 12 games of his major league career, as he's hitting .300/.317/.550 with two home runs and five RBI in 41 plate appearances. It remains to be seen if Lewis will remain with the big club when he's healed from his injury, but he should remain stashed in AL-only leagues.

Sun May 29 202212:35Jose Miranda Optioned, Royce Lewis Coming Up
The Minnesota Twins optioned third baseman Jose Miranda to the minors to make space for shortstop Royce Lewis on Sunday. Miranda, the team's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will head back to the farm after going only 11-for-67 (.164) with 14 strikeouts in his first 19 major league games. The 23-year-old will surely be back in Minnesota, but he could use more seasoning at Triple-A St. Paul. Lewis, the club's top prospect, is starting in center field and batting seventh on Sunday against Kansas City Royals right-hander Zack Greinke. The 22-year-old played shortstop, third base, left field and center field in the minors when he was sent down after Carlos Correa returned from the injured list. Lewis should fill a super-utility role for the Twins and was hitting .308 with two home runs and five RBI in 39 at-bats earlier this year.

Wed May 18 202209:06Royce Lewis Optioned To Triple-A Tuesday Night
The Minnesota Twins optioned shortstop Royce Lewis to Triple-A after Tuesday night's game against the Oakland Athletics. The move was made in preparation for Carlos Correa (finger) being activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's series finale against the A's. The 22-year-old looked great in his first taste of the majors. Over 11 games, he slashed .308/.325/.564 with two home runs and four doubles. His demotion and Correa's return make things complicated for fantasy managers in season-long leagues. In most formats, he can be dropped, but he's now one of the top prospects to stash for the long haul of the season if you can afford a roster spot for him.

Sat May 14 202208:34Royce Lewis Hits Grand Slam For First Career Homer
Minnesota Twins shortstop Royce Lewis went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and an additional run scored in Friday's 12-8 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Lewis took Bryan Shaw deep in the fifth inning with the bases loaded for the first long ball of his career. The 22-year is off to a hot start since being called up on May 5th, slashing .320/.320/.520 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs across seven games. The 22-year-old will continue to see every day at-bats while Carlos Correa (finger) is on the 10-day injured list. Lewis has a ton of upside, and fantasy managers should look to add the 2017 first-round pick in all league formats.

Sat May 7 202208:44Royce Lewis Picks Up First MLB Hit
The Minnesota Twins shortstop Royce Lewis picked up his first major league hit on Friday in the Twins' 2-1 win over the Oakland A's. Lewis, the first overall draft pick in the 2017 MLB draft, the Twins' top prospect, and 44th overall MLB prospect per MLB Pipeline, went 1-for-4 with a single. He was called up following an injury to Carlos Correa (finger) and should remain with the Twins until Correa returns. Over 23 games at Triple-A this year, he has slashed .310/.427/.560 with three home runs, 10 doubles, eight stolen bases, 11 RBI, and 20 runs scored. In redraft formats, Lewis is worth adding as a plug-and-play until such time that Correa is back. Lewis should be starting regularly while he is up with the big league club. Redraft managers should temper expectations though since it is likely the Twins will send Lewis back down to the minors once Correa returns so that he can get regular playing time.

Fri May 6 202210:12Royce Lewis To Be Promoted For MLB Debut On Friday
The Minnesota Twins will be promoting shortstop prospect Royce Lewis on Friday following the injury to Carlos Correa (finger). He will make his MLB debut in Friday's game against the Oakland Athletics. Lewis is rated as the team's No. 1 prospect and as the 44th overall prospect in the majors by MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old was selected first overall in the 2017 MLB draft. Over 23 games at Triple-A this year, he has slashed .310/.427/.560 with three home runs, 10 doubles, eight stolen bases, 11 RBI and 20 runs scored. He's well worthy of being added in all deep leagues and AL-only leagues right now. He can even be considered in more shallow leagues if you need shortstop help. Correa's timeline is a bit unclear right now, but the expectation is that he will land on the injured list. At the very least, Lewis will have some time to prove he belongs in the majors while Correa is out.

Sat Mar 12 202211:16Royce Lewis Doing Some Running
Minnesota Twins shortstop prospect Royce Lewis (knee), who missed all of last season after tearing his ACL, reported to spring camp on Friday and was doing some running drills on Saturday. Lewis is the team's top prospect and is ranked as the No. 35 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. The former first overall pick in 2017 has missed most of the last three years due to injury, so it speaks to his level of talent that he has a realistic shot to make his major league debut later on in 2022 if he's fully healthy. Lewis is a five-tool talent when he's on the field, but his swing can get big at times and lead to a loss of approach at the plate. His plus speed and athleticism also makes him a base-stealing threat at the 6.

Minnesota Twins shortstop Royce Lewis (knee) began doing fielding and throwing drills last week. He is currently working his way back from a torn ACL at the Twins team complex in Fort Myers. The 22-year-old is expected to do some jogging and hitting as early as next week. Lewis won't be a factor for the Twins this season, but has a bright future in the league. The hope is that Lewis will be ready for the beginning of the 2022 season.
