Sun May 22 202211:44Tarik Skubal Expects To Make His Next Start
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal (shin) said he has a bruise on his left shin but feels good otherwise and expects to be able to make his next start in the rotation. He was diagnosed with a left leg contusion after being hit by a comebacker in his start on Friday against the Cleveland Guardians. The 25-year-old is scheduled to make his next start on Wednesday on the road against the Minnesota Twins, and for now, fantasy managers should expect to have him available to pitch. The left-hander has been excellent so far in 2022, going 3-2 with a 2.22 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, eight walks and 50 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings over his first eight starts.

Sat May 21 202210:02Tarik Skubal Hopeful He Can Make His Next Start
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal (shin) was hit in his left shin by a comebacker off the bat of Cleveland Guardians outfielder Ernie Clement on Friday. He exited the game after the incident. Following the game, Skubal told reporters that he didn't think the injury was anything significant. He said that he was hopeful he would make his next start, which is scheduled for next Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins. His shin was swollen after the game and because of the swelling, he hadn't yet received any diagnostic tests. The team will certainly be running tests on him and monitoring him closely over the coming days, but it appears at this point as if he's likely to avoid the injured list.

Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal left his Friday night start against the Cleveland Guardians after he was hit on the shin by a line drive. Skubal limped off of the field following the play and was replaced on the mound by Jacob Barnes for the sixth. The lefty was dealing before departing, tossing five scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Expect the Tigers to update Skubal's status at the end of Friday's game.

Fri May 6 202200:32Tarik Skubal Strikes Out Nine Astros
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal was sharp during Thursday's no-decision versus the Astros, striking out nine batters in his club's 3-2 loss. He gave up six hits and no walks in the 90-pitch outing, but was blemished by a pair of solo homers off the bats of Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pea. It was the first two long balls of the season that Skubal has surrendered as he now sits with a crisp 3.04 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 29/3 K/BB through 26 2/3 IP on the year. Unfortunately he sits with a 1-2 record, but he'll have a chance to even that out with a home date versus the Athletics next week.

Mon Apr 25 202214:20Tarik Skubal Enjoying Strong Start To 2022
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal is enjoying a strong start to the 2022 season. The left-handed starter has thrown 15.2 innings in his three outings so far, striking out 16 batters while walking just one. He's also pitched to a 2.30 ERA and a 1.23 FIP during that span. Detroit's best starting pitcher early in the season, Skubal should continue to benefit from home starts at Comerica Park. His next scheduled start will come Thursday in Minnesota against the Twins. Entering play Monday, only nine teams had scored fewer runs than Rocco Baldelli's team.

Facing the Cleveland Indians on Thursday, he pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed six hits, one walk and five earned runs while recording just one strikeout. Luckily, the Tigers' offense went on to score 10 runs in the game and Skubal was left with a no decision. The 24-year-old had an uneven season overall, but had some promising stretches along the way. Over 31 games (29 starts), he went 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP and a 25.9% strikeout rate.

Wed Sep 22 202118:26Tarik Skubal Is Starting Saturday
Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal's next start will come on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. The left-hander has pitched to a 4.25 ERA, a 4.91 FIP, 162 strikeouts, and 46 walks in 142 innings this season. Detroit has limited Skubal's innings as of late with shorter starts. Three-inning starts to be exact. The 24-year-old hasn't pitched more than three innings in a game this month. Skubal probably won't have a ton of fantasy appeal on Saturday despite the matchup with a Kansas City lineup that has a collective .306 on-base percentage this season. Only five clubs have a lower on-base percentage as a team.

Sun Sep 19 202108:22Tarik Skubal Allows Two Runs Over Three Innings
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal had another short start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. He had gone exactly three innings in each of his two previous starts as well. Over 29 games (27 starts) on the year, Skubal is 8-12 with a 4.25 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. He'll make his next start at home against the Kansas City Royals on Friday.

Wed Sep 15 202119:00Tarik Skubal To Start Saturday
Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal will get the start on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. It'll be a rematch as the left-hander faced the same Rays team and starter Luis Patino in his last outing. Skubal struck out six in three innings against Tampa Bay on September 12, allowing just one hit and a walk. With the Tigers limiting Skubal's innings via shorter starts, Skubal won't have a ton of streaming appeal in a matchup with baseball's highest-scoring team. That being said, fantasy managers in deeper leagues could give Skubal a look if they're looking for a few more strikeouts. The rookie has 26 strikeouts in his last 16 innings. Overall, the 24-year-old has pitched to a 4.21 ERA, a 4.88 FIP, 160 strikeouts, and 46 walks in 139 innings this season.

Wed Sep 8 202118:09Tarik Skubal Starting Sunday Against Tampa Bay
Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal is starting against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. The left-hander has pitched to a 4.30 ERA and a 4.99 FIP in 136 innings this season. He's also struck out 154 batters and walked 45. With the Tigers limiting Skubal's innings, the 24-year-old won't have a ton of fantasy appeal against the Rays. That being said, the starter could be worth a look for fantasy managers in deeper leagues looking to pick up a few extra strikeouts. Tampa Bay hitters currently have the fifth-highest strikeout rate in baseball.

Sat Sep 4 202116:36Tarik Skubal Will Start Monday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal will be on the mound when Detroit begins a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday. Skubal has thrown 133 innings this season, striking out 150 batters and walking 45 while pitching to a 4.26 ERA and a 4.99 FIP. Home runs have been a bit of an issue at times for the left-hander, who has allowed 30 so far. That being said, he'll be an excellent streaming option against a Pittsburgh lineup that ranks last in the league in home runs, ISO, and barrel rate. The Pirates also have the third-lowest on-base percentage in baseball.

Wed Sep 1 202109:40Tarik Skubal Allows Six Runs In Tuesday's Loss
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal got off to a strong start in Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. He struck out three of the first five batters he faced. However, things started to fall apart for him during his second trip through the Athletics' order. Skubal pitched five innings in total in the game and allowed seven hits, three walks and six earned runs while striking out six. He earned the loss, dropping his record to 8-12 on the year. This was easily Skubal's worst start of August. He had allowed just four earned runs total over his previous four starts in the month, a total of 22.2 innings. He now has a 4.26 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP on the year. His next start will be on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Wed Aug 25 202118:57Tarik Skubal Strikes Out 10 On Wednesday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal had a strong outing against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. He pitched five innings and allowed three hits, one walk and two earned runs while striking out 10, just one shy of his season-high. His only major blemishes were a pair of solo home runs by Paul Goldschmidt. After struggling to the tune of a 5.86 ERA in July, Skubal has been on fire in August. He has allowed just four earned runs over 22.2 innings, good for a 1.59 ERA. The 24-year-old Skubal has shown us a lot to be excited about this year. Even though he isn't typically pitching deep into games and he's subjected to the Tigers' six-man rotation, he is still worth roster consideration in many redraft leagues. He'll make his next start next Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics.

Sun Aug 22 202113:25Tarik Skubal Is Starting On Wednesday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal will take the mound on Wednesday for a matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals. Skubal has pitched to a 4.02 ERA, a 4.87 FIP, 134 strikeouts, and 41 walks in 123 innings for the Tigers this season. Fantasy managers in need of streaming options in the rotation next week should consider adding the left-hander. He's allowed two runs or fewer in 14 of his 24 appearances this season and gets to face a Cardinals lineup that has combined for a 91 wRC+ this season.

Thu Aug 19 202108:34Tarik Skubal Limits Angels To Two Runs Over 6 2/3 Innings
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal had a strong outing against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. Skubal pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed six hits, no walks and two earned runs while striking out seven. Unfortunately, he was out-dueled by Angels starter Shohei Ohtani and he wound up with the loss for the game, dropping his record to 8-11 on the year. Skubal has been fantastic so far in August. Through three starts this month, he's pitched 17.2 innings while allowing just two earned runs on 16 hits and two walks. He'll look to keep this hot streak going in his next trip to the mound against the St. Louis Cardinals next Wednesday.

Thu Aug 12 202110:43Tarik Skubal Fires Six Scoreless Innings On Wednesday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal earned his eighth win of the year after a stellar outing against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Skubal pitched six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out six. He is now 8-10 on the year with a 4.10 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. He has started off the month of August by pitching 11 scoreless innings. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch announced on Wednesday that most of the team's starters - including Skubal - would get an extra day of rest going forward. That'll be a big hit to Skubal's fantasy value. He likely won't pitch again until next Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels. He's still worth a roster spot in a lot of deep leagues and AL-only leagues, but the extended rest will make him a potential drop candidate going forward, especially if he starts to struggle.
