Hudson lasted just 1.1 innings Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and three walks without striking out a batter.
He just couldn't find the strike zone in the second inning, and his nostalgic matchup against the A's and Barry Zito fizzled when the Oakland left-hander couldn't record an out in the third. Hudson is scheduled for one more start this season, at home against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Hudson (8-8) twirled a gem Sunday, going six shutout innings while striking out three in the win over Arizona.
Hudson has turned back the clock since returning to the rotation on September 8, going 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA over that three-game span. His 8:6 K:BB ration leaves a lot to be desired, but it appears safe to deploy Hudson as a spot-starter, especially in leagues that count quality starts.

Hudson will stick in the rotation for now following a strong start Tuesday, CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic reports.
Manager Bruce Bochy referred to Hudson's performance Tuesday as "vintage" and confirmed that the 40-year-old righty will remain in the Giants' rotation for at least one more turn. He allowed one run on four hits over six innings Tuesday against Arizona and figures to make his next start early next week at home against the Reds.

Hudson won and improved to 7-8 Tuesday against Arizona as he allowed one run on four hits over six innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter.
Hudson was in control, as he induced nine ground balls and threw just 21 balls. Hudson had been pitching out of the bullpen and as such was limited to 74 pitches. Hudson also homered in the win. It's unclear if Hudson, who is retiring after the season, will stay in the rotation, as he was forced into the position after Ryan Vogelsong was called out of the bullpen the night before. But he pitched well enough to earn consideration, at least.
Mon Sep 7 201520:10Hudson will start in Tuesday's game against Diamondbacks
Hudson will start in Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Hudson has been featured by way of the bullpen of late but will get his first opportunity to start since July 26 when he picked up a win against the Athletics after just 5.0 innings of work. Despite a temporary spot back in the starting rotation, there's no guarantee he'll remain a starter for the duration of 2015.

Hudson tossed two innings of shutout ball in relief of Ryan Vogelsong in Thursday's loss to the Rockies.
Hudson has been serving a long-relief role since returning from the DL. Given Vogelsong's recent struggles (11.46 ERA over last three starts), there is a chance manager Bruce Bochy decides to give Hudson another chance in the rotation. Even if he does earn another chance as a starter this season, his numbers tell us that he wouldn't be a reliable fantasy option (4.69 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 4.77 K/9).
Tue Sep 1 201519:14Hudson (shoulder) activated from 15-day DL on Tuesday
Hudson (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday, Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area reports.
Shoulder fatigue has sidelined Hudson for most of the second half, but he will return to the Giants' expanded September roster, taking on a bullpen role for the first time in his career. Just one of Hudson's 475 career appearances to this come has come out of the bullpen.
Wed Aug 26 201520:20Hudson (shoulder)
Hudson (shoulder), along with pitcher Tim Lincecum (forearm), is expected to be activated Sep. 1 or earlier, Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group reports.
Hudson or Lincecum could be available to pitch as early as Sunday, but manager Bruce Bochy did not provide concrete information regarding who the most likely candidate is.

Hudson (shoulder) made his first rehab appearance with High-A San Jose on Friday, tossing 2.2 innings of shutout ball.
This was a positive step for Hudson, who was placed on the disabled list when the team acquired Mike Leake. He will likely make another rehab start or two, as there isn't an immediate spot open in the Giants' rotation. Matt Cain struggled again at the major league level Friday, so if he continues to falter, then Hudson would theoretically take his spot in the rotation.

Hudson (shoulder) will toss a few innings for High-A San Jose on Friday, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Hudson was believed to be joining Triple-A Sacramento, but will instead play for High-A. When he does rejoin the Giants, it seems likely he'll pitch out of the bullpen much like he did before going on the disabled list.

San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Hudson, who was placed on the disabled list July 31, will make a rehab start for High-A San Jose on Friday, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Hudson (shoulder) is expected to pitch for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area reports.
Hudson continues to progress in his rehab from a shoulder issue, and it appears as though he may not be too far removed from a potential return to the rotation. It's unclear at this point how many rehab outings the veteran will require, but he'll likely return to the bullpen when activated.
Wed Aug 12 201514:04 Tim Hudson: (Shoulder) Expects to Pitch at Triple-A on Friday

Fri Jul 31 201517:06Hudson going back on DL
Hudson is going back on the DL, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
Mike Leake's arrival from Cincinnati bumped Hudson from the rotation, and instead of immediately moving him to the bullpen, the Giants will give the 40-year-old another stint on the DL to rest his shoulder. Hudson gave up six runs over nine innings in two starts after his return earlier this month, raising his ERA to 4.80 over 101.1 innings.
Fri Jul 31 201501:18Tim Hudson: Removed From Giants' Rotation
Hudson will be removed from the Giants' rotation following the team's acquisition of Mike Leake on Thursday, Giants reporter Andrew Baggarly reports.
Hudson has not turned in the same type of numbers this year as he did last season, so he will be the pitcher that loses his spot in the rotation with Leake now a Giant. Hudson could be used for a spot start down the road and would likely be the top option if a rotation spot opens up due to injury, but for now he figures to work in long relief, and will no longer see regular innings every five days.

Hudson won his sixth game of the season Sunday against the Athletics, allowing three runs with a strikeout and zero walks in five innings.
The grizzled veteran did a nice job of scattering hits and limited the A's to just two extra-base hits, doing just enough to earn the win. Hudson, who now has a 4.80 ERA to go along with a 6-8 record in what will be his final season in the major leagues, is next scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Rangers.

Hudson allowed three runs on five hits and four walks over four innings in a loss Monday against the Padres.
It was both Hudson's first start back from the disabled list and his first start as a 40-year-old, neither of which fill owners with much confidence for his future. Hudson's ERA rose to 4.76 and he has just 52 strikeouts in 96.1 innings, and he served up his 13th home run in just 16 starts on Monday, as things are looking rough all around for the veteran.
Mon Jul 20 201520:45Tim Hudson: Activated From Disabled List
Hudson (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday.
As expected, Hudson will return to the mound Monday night in San Diego. Hudson -- who turned 40 while on the DL -- hasn't looked like he has much left in the tank this year, but with a midseason rest under his belt, perhaps he could be rejuvenated for the stretch run.
Fri Jul 17 201516:59Hudson (shoulder) will return to mound Monday to face Padres
Hudson (shoulder) will return to the mound Monday to face the Padres, CSN Bay Area reports.
The Giants released their post-All-Star break rotation and have Hudson slotted fourth. He had hit the disabled list on July 3 due to a personal matter, in addition to some shoulder soreness. The move was essentially viewed as a way to give the 40-year-old veteran some rest in a crowded rotation, so we will see if the time off did him any good. Hudson should still be viewed as a matchups play in most leagues until his performance says otherwise.
Fri Jul 17 201514:59Tim Hudson: (Shoulder) Will Start Monday
San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Hudson will start Monday against the San Diego Padres after recovering from a shoulder injury, according to CSN Bay Area.
