The team's medical staff checked him out and felt irritation is what's bothering him, but he will be tested and have an MRI when the team gets back home Monday. Still, he allowed just one run and got the win in the 5-1 victory, improving to 11-10. "I talked to doctors ... they checked everything," he said. "They think it's OK because they did all the tests, and I didn't feel any pain, just that muscles are tight."

RHP JC Ramirez (7-7) had his five-game road winning streak snapped in Tuesday's loss in Minnesota. Ramirez gave up four runs in five innings. He had allowed nine runs in 30 innings in his previous five starts on the road. Overall, the right-hander has now allowed at least four runs in five of his last seven appearances.

RHP JC Ramirez gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk in 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Dodgers. Three of the hits Ramirez yielded were home runs, including a game-breaking three-run shot by OF Joc Pederson in the sixth inning. "I don't know if he got tired, the ball was not moving as well," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said of Ramirez. "He tried to stay on top of the ball and get it to sink, which he was doing in the early part of the game. He had great stuff early, he was going pitch for pitch with (Clayton) Kershaw. Then he had an issue with location and movement later and those guys didn't miss it." Ramirez had to leave the game later in the sixth inning after getting struck on the right hip by a line drive from OF Yasiel Puig. Scioscia said Ramirez "looks OK right now, it looks like just a bruise."

RHP JC Ramirez will start Thursday against the Dodgers. He is coming off a victory over Boston in which he gave up one run and four hits in six innings. It was a turnaround from what has been a rough month of June, but he said he has corrected his problems by simplifying his approach. He has faced the Dodgers twice in his career, both times as a reliever, throwing 3 2/3 scoreless innings, retiring all 11 batters he faced.

RHP JC Ramirez won his fifth straight road start Saturday against the Red Sox, tossing six one-run innings on four hits with five strikeouts. Ramirez (7-5) is the first Angels starter to win five consecutive road starts since Jered Weaver won six in a row in 2012. "He kept it together and made some good pitches to some tough hitters to get out of it," manager Mike Scioscia said. "That was a big inning for him. He showed us something, getting out of the fourth after the two singles."
