Wed Sep 19 201216:44Paul Janish out indefinitely
Paul Janish is flying back to Atlanta for further tests on his dislocated left shoulder.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez doesn't expect his backup shortstop to return soon, though he thinks he could be ready for postseason play. Janish has given Atlanta nice defense while he's been in there, but the Braves will be fine as long as Andrelton Simmons (shoulder) can get back soon.

Tue Sep 18 201222:55Paul Janish's X-rays are negative
X-rays on Paul Janish's left shoulder came back negative.
His dislocated shoulder is still likely to keep him out for a few days, but it appears it's not a long-term concern. Janish noted to reporters that he's dislocated his shoulder 8-9 times before.

Tue Aug 7 201221:35Janish goes hitless in loss to Phillies
Paul Janish, like the rest of the Braves' offense, struggled to figure out Cole Hamels on Tuesday, finishing 0-for-3.
Since being acquired from the Reds on July 14, Janish is hitting just .195 (15-for-77) with no homers and four RBI. He holds no fantasy value -- even the deepest of NL-only leagues -- and could soon give way to Tyler Pastornicky.

Sat Jul 14 201216:57Braves get shortstop Paul Janish from Reds
Braves acquired SS Paul Janish from the Reds for RHP Todd Redmond.
Janish will give the Braves a serviceable option at shortstop while youngster Andrelton Simmons recovers from a fractured finger and veteran Jack Wilson heals a dislocated pinkie. Janish, 29, was sporting a .237/.332/.391 batting line in 49 games at Triple-A Louisville. He'll carry no fantasy value.

Mon Apr 2 201213:31Reds option SS Paul Janish to AAA
Reds optioned SS Paul Janish to Triple-A Lousville.
Janish batted .310/.412/.500 with 10 RBI and eight walks this spring in the Cactus League, but it wasn't enough to put him over the edge for an Opening Day roster spot.

Reds recalled SS Paul Janish from Triple-A Louisville.
Janish was demoted earlier this month after posting a woeful .227/.259/.271 batting line. He batted .256/.377/.372 in 43 at-bats for Louisville and has regained his roster spot by default with Zack Cosart's injury. Janish will share shortstop with Edgar Renteria in Cosart's absence.

Mon Feb 7 201105:48Shortstop job is Janish's to lose this season
The Reds have confidence in Paul Janish as their starting shortstop this season.
The defensive specialist has only 536 at-bats in three major league seasons, but has improved offensively each year. As long as he doesn't seriously falter, Janish is expected to get a full season under his belt in 2011.

Sun Nov 14 201009:31Reds plan to give Janish the shortstop job
The Reds' plan for the time being is to give Paul Janish a shot as the everyday shortstop in 2011.
Janish has a reputation as a superb defensive shortstop, though he didn't rate particularly well in defensive metrics for 2010. A scout that the Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay talked to indicated that what Janish might lack in range, he makes up for with good hands, instincts and a solid arm. He gets exposed at the plate, though, if he has to play long periods at a time. There's no fantasy upside here even in a full-time role.

Wed Aug 18 201000:47Reds' Janish homers, doubles
Paul Janish homered and doubled Tuesday in the win over the Diamondbacks.
Janish has been a better player than Orlando Cabrera all season long, so it will be interesting to see how Dusty Baker opts to work it once Cabrera comes off the DL. Janish is hitting .283 with four homers, 19 RBI and a 13/13 K/BB ratio in his 106 at-bats. Cabrera's OPS is about 140 points lower, and he's hit just three homers in 416 at-bats.
Wed Aug 4 201017:22Janish homers, drives in four in win
Paul Janish was 3-for-3 with a three-run home run and a career-high four RBI in a 9-4 win over the Pirates on Wednesday afternoon.
Didn't see this one coming. Janish is going to fill in at shortstop while Orlando Cabrera is on the disabled list, but don't let today's exploits fool you. Entering Wednesday's contest, Janish had only four home runs in 403 career at-bats. He's out there for his glove more than anything else. Don't consider him a viable option in fantasy leagues.
Sun Jul 4 201018:19Reds' Janish goes 4-for-4 with a homer
After replacing Joey Votto in the bottom of the first inning, Paul Janish went 4-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, and three runs scored on Sunday.
That came out of nowhere. Janish entered the day with three homers and 28 RBI in 382 career at-bats. Unfortunately for Janish his excellent day will be overshadowed by Drew Stubbs' three-homer performance.
Sat May 29 201017:55Reds activate Paul Janish from bereavement
Reds activated INF Paul Janish from the bereavement list.
Janish was given the last few days off to attend his grandmother's funeral.
Wed May 26 201014:18Reds place Janish on bereavement list
Reds placed INF Paul Janish on the bereavement list.
Janish has left the team to attend his grandmother's funeral. He can remain on the bereavement list anywhere from three to seven days. The Reds will call up Drew Sutton from the minor leagues to take his place on the 25-man roster.
Wed Apr 14 201022:21Janish gets a hot bat against Marlins
Paul Janish went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI on Wednesday night.
It was Janish's second appearance of the season and he made the most of it. He'll see mere spot duty as Orlando Cabrera's backup this year.
