Athletics optioned RHP Josh Lindblom to Triple-A Sacramento.
The 26-year-old hurler didn't really do anything to pitch his way off the roster, he was simply unable to crack an extremely talented A's bullpen to begin the year. He'll get another opportunity with the big league club soon enough.

Tue Jul 9 201319:25Josh Lindblom to start on Wednesday
Josh Lindblom will start on Wednesday against Baltimore.
He gets the nod over Ross Wolf. "[Lindblom's] been doing a good job in Triple-A, and I'd rather keep Wolf in his ... role in the bullpen," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "Lindblom is the one who's been getting a lot of starter's innings, and we just want to keep him with that type of focus. If we had to use Wolf, we wouldn't hesitate." It should just be a spot start for Lindblom, as Alexi Ogando is due back just after the All-Star break.

Lindblom wasn't terribly sharp, but he managed to strand a lot of baserunners before the Rangers finally took the lead late. He holds an uninspiring 5.40 ERA and 1.38 WHIP for the season and should be avoided for fantasy purposes next week on the road against the Yankees.

Josh Lindblom will start on Saturday against the Blue Jays.
Lindblom earned another shot after holding the Indians to three runs over six innings Monday. "He kept us in the ballgame," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "He had a good breaking ball and a changeup and he was able to spot his fastball. He kept it down in the zone. He did a really good job." With Alexi Ogando out indefinitely, Lindblom could stick around a while if he pitches well. Martin Perez is an option if he stumbles.

Tue Jun 11 201300:10Josh Lindblom strikes out six Indians
Filling in for Alexi Ogando, Josh Lindblom pitched six innings of three-run ball in his start against the Indians on Monday.
Lindblom allowed five him, walked one and struck out six. The Indians delivered just one extra-base hit against him, but unfortunately, it came with the bases loaded, scoring all three runs. Lindblom probably earned himself another start with the performance. He'll be a risky play in AL-only leagues.

Rangers acquired RHPs Josh Lindblom and Lisalverto Bonilla from the Phillies in exchange for INF Michael Young.
Lindblom struggled down the stretch for the Phillies last season after coming over from the Dodgers in the Shane Victorino deal, but he's put up a 3.31 ERA while striking out nearly a batter per inning over his first 101 appearances in the big leagues. He should give the Rangers solid work in the middle innings.
