Wed Aug 9 202320:44Rays Optimistic That Tyler Glasnow Will Start Saturday
Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) played catch on Wednesday and that the team is "optimistic" that he will make his next start on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians. However, the Rays probably won't know for sure until Saturday morning. The 29-year-old was scratched from his last scheduled start on Sunday due to back spasms, but he has rebounded nicely since then and is tentatively set to toe the rubber this weekend in a good matchup against Cleveland. It's great news for the Rays' starting rotation after they learned this week that left-hander Shane McClanahan (forearm) is going to miss the rest of the year. Glasnow has the makings of a fantasy ace when he's right, and he's gone 5-3 on the year with a nice 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 96 K's in 68 2/3 innings (12 starts).

Tue Aug 8 202319:46Rays Hope Tyler Glasnow Can Return Saturday
Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) received an injection in his back and will now be shut down for two days. The team is hoping that Glasnow can return to pitch on Saturday in a plus matchup against the Cleveland Guardians. The 29-year-old was scratched from his last scheduled start on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers with his back injury, but it doesn't appear to be a very serious injury. Glasnow is typically a must-start in fantasy lineups when he toes the rubber, but he'll be extra risky coming off his injury if he makes his next start this weekend. He's dealt with injuries this year but has been solid when healthy, going 5-3 with a strong 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 96 K's in 68 2/3 innings over his 12 starts.

Tue Aug 8 202312:32Tyler Glasnow To See Specialist Tuesday
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back), who was scratched from his start on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers due to back spasms, is scheduled to visit with team specialist Dr. Tom Tollin on Tuesday. The Rays don't expect Glasnow to be sidelined for long, and it's possible that he could return to pitch this week if he checks out fine on Tuesday. "I personally don't think, as we speak right now, it's that big of a deal," manager Kevin Cash said of Glasnow on Sunday. The 29-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now, and hopefully he won't need to go on the injured list, especially with lefty ace Shane McClanahan (forearm) already on the IL. Glasnow has been strong this year with a 5-3 record, 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 96 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings over his 12 starts for Tampa.

Sun Aug 6 202311:11Tyler Glasnow Scratched From Sunday’s Start
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (back) has been scratched from Sunday's scheduled start against the Detroit Tigers due to back spasms. Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez will take the ball on Sunday instead. Marc Topkin reports Glasnow's back "started bothering him last night", so the Rays aren't going to take any chances with their oft-injured ace. It remains to be seen what kind of absence the 29-year-old is facing, or if Glasnow could simply use a rest in between turns to get right. It's an untimely setback, anyway, as the hard-throwing right-hander was bringing a 2.08 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 63:9 K:BB over his last seven starts (43.1 innings) into Sunday's favorable tilt. Consider Glasnow day-to-day until we know more.

Mon Jul 31 202322:16Tyler Glasnow Dominates Yankees For Fifth Win
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow threw seven one-run innings with eight strikeouts against the New York Yankees on Monday. He allowed only three hits and one walk en route to his fifth win of the year. Glasnow pitched very well in this one with a second-inning Jake Bauers solo shot acting as the only conspicuous blemish to his ledger. The 29-year-old got plenty of run support and scattered only two singles along with a walk otherwise for consecutive dominant starts. After a late start to the year due to a left oblique strain, Glasnow is rounding into form with a superb 2.08 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 63:9 K:BB in his last seven starts (43.1 frames). The hard-throwing right-hander has fanned at least eight during six of his prior seven showings. Glasnow should have a good shot at keeping the good times rolling in a cushy draw with the Detroit Tigers on tap for Sunday.

Thu Jul 13 202317:47Tyler Glasnow To Start Against Royals On Friday
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow is in line to open up on the mound for the team to start the second half of the season on Friday against the Kansas City Royals. Glasnow left his final start of the first half early on July 7 against the Atlanta Braves due to cramps in his hand and legs, but it was nothing serious and he'll be ready to roll to kick off the weekend series against KC after having the All-Star break to rest up. Against one of the weaker hitting teams in the big leagues, the 29-year-old will be a must-start in fantasy lineups as he kicks off the second half. Glasnow was on a nice little run to end the first half and is currently 2-3 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 64 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings over his eight starts in 2023.

Fri Jul 7 202320:39Tyler Glasnow Leaves Early Due To Hand Cramping
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow left his start early on Friday against the visiting Atlanta Braves due to cramping in his left, non-throwing hand. It's something that he has dealt with in the past, but it's nothing serious. Before departing early, Glasnow allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings to lower his season ERA to 4.10. With the All-Star break coming next week, there's no reason why Glasnow shouldn't be able to make his first start of the second half of the season. Injuries continue to set the hard-throwing 29-year-old back -- he didn't make his 2023 debut until late May -- but Glasnow is a fantasy ace and a must-start when he's healthy.

Sat Jul 1 202322:41Tyler Glasnow Fans 11 Hitters Amid Uneven Start
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow tossed five and two-thirds innings in Saturday's 8-3 defeat to the Seattle Mariners. The 29-year-old reached double figures in strikeouts (11) for the second consecutive start, but permitted three runs on seven hits and a walk for his second loss of the season. It was a shaky display by Glasnow, who launched only two clean frames and yielded four total extra-base hits before being bounced from the game during a tough sixth inning. Jalen Beeks would come on to strand the bases loaded to help limit the harm on Glasnow's line. The hard-throwing Glasnow takes a vanilla 4.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 36 innings (56 punchouts) into his next scheduled start versus the Atlanta Braves on Friday to kick off a series between two of MLB's juggernauts.

Wed Jun 21 202300:28Tyler Glasnow Gets Hit Hard Tuesday
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow did not pitch well in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Orioles. Glasnow pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on six hits (including two home runs) and two walks with seven strikeouts. The 29-year-old has now made five starts on the season, going 2-1 with a 4.97 ERA, 11.72 K/9 rate, and 4.62 BB/9 rate. Glasnow has not delivered what fantasy managers have expected, although he is relatively early into his season. He should have a good chance to rebound in his next start against the Royals.

Sat Jun 10 202300:25Tyler Glasnow Leads Rays To Win Over Rangers
In Friday's game, Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow was dominant on the mound, holding the Rangers to just one run and one hit over six innings to pick up his first win. The lone blemish came from a home run hit by Leody Taveras. Glasnow faced little other adversity throughout the game despite several pitch-timer violations. He impressed with his fastball, consistently averaging 96.8 mph. Additionally, he recorded six strikeouts, further highlighting his exceptional outing.

Thu Jun 8 202312:38Tyler Glasnow Pushed Back To Friday
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow is having his next start pushed back to Friday against the Texas Rangers. Glasnow was originally scheduled to toe the rubber in the series finale on Thursday against the Minnesota Twins, but the Rays have elected to go with Yonny Chirinos instead. Glasnow will get a tougher assignment in the hot-hitting Rangers, but the 29-year-old remains a must-start in fantasy lineups. There's been no indications that Glasnow is dealing with any sort of injury. The hard-throwing right-hander got a late start to the 2023 season due to injury, and he's made only two starts, allowing four runs on nine hits (one homer) while walking four and striking out 14 in 9 2/3 frames.

Thu May 25 202315:18Tyler Glasnow To Make Season Debut Saturday
The Tampa Bay Rays are listing starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) as their probable starter for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Glasnow has been out all year with a left-oblique injury, so Saturday will mark his 2023 season debut. The 29-year-old hard-throwing right-hander allowed only one run while striking out 20 and walking five over 13 1/3 innings during four minor-league rehab starts for Triple-A Durham. The Dodgers will make for a tough first opponent, though, so Glasnow probably won't be the best DFS bet on Saturday's slate. Still, when he's healthy, he's already proved he can be one of the most dominant starting pitchers in baseball.

Mon May 22 202319:19Tyler Glasnow Expected To Make Season Debut Saturday
The Tampa Bay Rays are expected to reinstate starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) from the injured list in order to start on Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers at home. Glasnow has looked like his old self in his last two minor-league rehab starts for Triple-A Durham, and he's allowed just one run on eight hits (one homer) while walking five and striking out 20 hitters in 13 1/3 innings over his four rehab starts down on the farm at Durham. The 29-year-old hard-throwing right-hander hasn't pitched yet in 2023 due to a left-oblique strain, but he's healthy now and shouldn't have any restrictions in his first game back this weekend. The matchup against the Dodgers isn't the greatest, but Glasnow has fantasy ace potential now that he's back.

Mon May 22 202312:04Tyler Glasnow Looks Good In Sunday's Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) looks ready to rejoin Tampa's starting rotation after his fourth minor-league rehab start on Sunday with Triple-A Durham. In six innings pitched, he allowed just one run on two hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out six batters. It was Glasnow's second straight solid rehab start, and he figures to return from the 15-day injured list later this week in order to make his 2023 debut. The 29-year-old hard-throwing right-hander has yet to pitch in the big leagues this year due to a left-oblique strain, but his return is right around the corner. Glasnow could make his first start of the year against the Los Angeles Dodgers at home this weekend.

Sat May 20 202310:34Tyler Glasnow To Make Final Rehab Start Sunday
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) threw a bullpen session Friday afternoon and told manager Kevin Cash he felt "100 percent," but he's slated for one final minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Sunday. If all goes well, it's likely Glasnow will be ready to come off the injured list to make his season debut. He cut his second rehab start short after just one inning on May 10, but he returned to dominant fashion with four scoreless innings and nine strikeouts at Durham on Tuesday. Glasnow's fastball averaged 97.3 mph in that outing and he maxed out at 99.4 mph, according to Statcast. Fantasy managers that have been stashing the hard-throwing 29-year-old all year have to be stoked that he's on the precipice of his 2023 debut.

Wed May 17 202322:57Tyler Glasnow Likely To Make One More Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) is most likely going to make one more minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Durham. Glasnow was pulled early from a rehab start last week due to left-side soreness, but he rebounded in a big way on Tuesday by striking out nine hitters in four scoreless innings for the Durham Bulls. It would be nice to see the 29-year-old hard-throwing right-handed have another strong rehab start in his next outing before being activated to make his 2023 season debut. Barring any setbacks in his next appearance, Glasnow could make his debut in a very tough matchup against the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers. Glasnow has ace potential and should be stashed everywhere right now.

Wed May 17 202315:51Tyler Glasnow Looks Good In Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) looked good in his minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, throwing four scoreless innings while striking out nine batters, walking one and allowing three hits. He threw 40 of his 57 pitches for strikes. The talented, hard-throwing right-hander has been out since Feb. 27 with a left-oblique strain, but he's expected to make at least one more rehab start before the Rays feel he's ready to make his 2023 debut. The 29-year-old had to leave his last start last Wednesday due to tightness in his left side, but apparently it wasn't anything too serious. Glasnow needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats as a fantasy ace when he's healthy.

Thu May 11 202318:04Tyler Glasnow Able To Make Next Rehab Start On Tuesday
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) is on schedule to make another rehab start in Triple-A on Tuesday. Fantasy managers stashing Glasnow can exhale after the big righty was forced from his previous game on Wednesday after appearing to aggravate the oblique issue which has cost him the first quarter of MLB action. Manager Kevin Cash believes the 29-year-old is in a "good spot" regarding his health. Glasnow is due to make two more appearances in the minors. The flame-throwing hurler was limited to just 6.2 innings last year after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and he's on track to rejoin the major-league roster before the end of May.

Wed May 10 202321:10Tyler Glasnow Removed From Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow (tightness) was removed in the second inning of a rehab start at Triple-A Durham due to mild left-side tightness. Glasnow was making his second rehab start en route to making his season debut start in the majors but experienced some tightness in the second inning. The 29-year-old was expected to pitch four innings for the Bulls, and the Rays were hoping to ramp things up from there. Glasnow is a vital component of the Rays' rotation, but his health has prevented him from pitching through September. He underwent Tommy John in 2022, and the Rays were hoping to reinstate him at some point in May. Although the current diagnosis is mild-tightness, it may be another setback in his recovery.

Sat May 6 202306:14Tyler Glasnow Impressive In Friday's Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow (oblique) allowed two walks while striking out four across 2 2/3 innings during Friday's rehab start with Triple-A Durham. He threw 46 pitches, landing 25 for strikes. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since February with a Grade 2 oblique strain. He made two appearances in 2022 after coming back from Tommy John surgery. Glasnow posted a 1.35 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 10:2 K: BB across 6 2/3 innings. The right-hander is expected to make two more rehab outings before joining Tampa Bay's roster sometime in May. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Glasnow in all league formats.
