Thu May 4 202321:34Tyler Glasnow To Begin His Rehab Assignment Friday
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) is scheduled to pitch in his first rehab game on Friday since the team shelved him with an oblique injury during spring training. He's planning to complete three innings of work for Triple-A Durham and should have at least one more, if not two, rehab appearances, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. The Rays are excited to get Glasnow back, as they're without Shane Baz (elbow) and Jeffrey Springs (elbow) for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old has only pitched more than 88 innings once but owns a career 4.00 ERA, 30.1% strikeout rate, and 1.24 WHIP over 409 2/3 innings and should provide fantasy managers with great value once he's back.

Sat Apr 29 202318:20Tyler Glasnow Cleared For Rehab Assignment
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) is set to begin a rehab assignment within the next week. Glasnow threw a two-inning live bullpen session Saturday and everything looked good. Mid-May is still the return range for Glasnow. He will throw about three innings at Durham in his first rehab start. So, without any setbacks, his return is right around the corner.

Sat Apr 22 202310:04Tyler Glasnow To Face Live Hitters Monday
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) will face batters on Monday and will throw two "innings," according to manager Kevin Cash. Glasnow began the 2023 season on the injured list with a strained oblique suffered early in spring training, but he's making strides and is tracking towards a mid-May return. Meanwhile, reliever Shawn Armstrong (neck), has started throwing off the mound. Reliever Andrew Kittredge (elbow), who had Tommy John surgery last June, and right-hander Shane Baz (elbow), who also had Tommy John surgery, are "a ways away, but are doing well." Kittredge could return later this year, but Baz isn't expected to return until 2024. Glasnow can be a fantasy ace when he's healthy, so he needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues.

Tue Apr 18 202312:21Tyler Glasnow On Track To Return In Mid-May
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) is on track to make his 2023 season debut for the team in mid-May. Glasnow was originally expected to miss six to eight weeks. While he might take a little bit longer before he makes his season debut, the 29-year-old right-hander is making good progress after starting to throw bullpen sessions last week. Glasnow was a bit more risky as a fantasy starter than other arms out there because of his injury history, but he has high-end ace upside when he's healthy. He made just two starts for the Rays in 2022 and has yet to throw more than 111 2/3 innings (in 2018) at the major-league level, but he shouldn't face any restrictions the rest of the way if he comes back completely healthy.

Wed Apr 12 202321:41Tyler Glasnow Feeling Good After Tuesday Bullpen Session
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow (oblique) threw a 15-pitch bullpen on Tuesday. It was the first time Glasnow threw off of a mound since he injured his oblique in February. Glasnow threw all fastballs and reportedly felt "awesome" after the session. He went on to say that he felt fully healthy about a week and a half ago. If it all continues to go smoothly, Glasnow could be ready to join the Rays' rotation in late May.

Sun Apr 9 202312:22Tyler Glasnow Expects To Throw Bullpen Next Week
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) threw again on Sunday and said he's been long-tossing for a while. He has gotten out past 120 feet and expects to throw a bullpen session next week. Glasnow opened the 2023 campaign on the injured list due to a left oblique strain that he suffered in spring training. The 29-year-old right-hander always seems to be dealing with some sort of injury, but he's making good progress and could rejoin Tampa's starting rotation early in May, barring any setbacks. When healthy, Glasnow has the ability to operate as a fantasy ace, so he needs to be stashed in all leagues.

Wed Mar 29 202318:00Tyler Glasnow Opening On Injured List
Tampa Bay Rays right-handers Tyler Glasnow (oblique), Shane Baz (elbow) and Shawn Armstrong (neck) are all being placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday to begin the 2023 regular season. Glasnow is dealing with a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique and is expected to miss at least the first month of the season. However, the 29-year-old starter has resumed throwing on flat ground and needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues. Health has been an issue for him, but when healthy, he has the upside of a fantasy ace. Baz had Tommy John surgery last September and won't pitch for the Rays in 2023. Armstrong doesn't have a timetable to return to the Rays bullpen after missing all of spring training due to a neck issue.

Sun Mar 26 202312:08Tyler Glasnow Throwing On Flat Ground
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) is throwing on flat ground at 75 feet on Sunday in camp. Glasnow suffered a Grade 2 left oblique strain around a month ago, and his initially timetable for recovery was set at six to eight weeks. The 29-year-old right-hander will have to gradually build his arm back after missing spring training, and if he can avoid any setbacks along the way, he could be able to make his 2023 season debut sometime in May. While Glasnow's fantasy stock has fallen due to the injury -- keep in mind he's also trying to return after having Tommy John surgery in 2021 -- he still has the potential to be a fantasy ace when he's fully healthy. But some fantasy managers may prefer to avoid him altogether since he's never thrown more than 140 innings in a single season.

Tue Feb 28 202312:15Tyler Glasnow Out 6-8 Weeks With Oblique Strain
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow's (oblique) MRI exam showed a Grade 2 left oblique strain, and his timeline to return to game action is being set at six to eight weeks. The Rays previously said that Glasnow wouldn't be ready for the start of the 2023 season, and now we know exactly why. The oft-injured 29-year-old right-hander's fantasy value now takes a pretty significant hit to open the year, especially since oblique injuries can be very tricky to come back from for pitchers. Fantasy managers should expect Glasnow to miss at least the first month of the season, if not more, depending on how his rehab goes and whether he suffers any setbacks along the way. Glasnow has fantasy ace potential when healthy, the problem is that he seems to always be dealing with some sort of injury.

Mon Feb 27 202319:18Tyler Glasnow Suffers Injury On Monday
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (oblique) is likely to miss time after suffering an injury while throwing on Monday. The organization isn't going to mess around with the oft-injured right-hander. The plan is for Glasnow to undergo an MRI on Tuesday. The team will likely give a timetable on Glasnow after that, but the team is going to remain cautious. That being said, Glasnow is probably a long shot for Opening Day after this injury. Yonny Chirinos or Luis Patino would probably take his spot in the rotation if he's not ready by the beginning of the season. Fantasy managers should check back on Tuesday for another update on his status. This injury could certainly hurt his position in fantasy drafts, so stay tuned for updates.

Sun Feb 19 202314:26Tyler Glasnow Throws Bullpen Sunday
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (illness) threw his normal bullpen session on Sunday after a stomach bug sidelined him on Saturday. Manager Kevin Cash called it the best bullpen he's seen Glasnow throw because of how he filled up the strike zone. The 29-year-old right-hander was recovering from Tommy John surgery for most of last year, but he was able to make two starts at the end of the season for Tampa. He then signed a two-year, $30 million extension to stay with the team through 2024. Glasnow is a fascinating fantasy option in 2023. When he's right, he has ace potential, but it's understandable to be wary of taking him because of the fact that he only made two starts in 2022. Glasnow has yet to go over 140 innings in any season.

Thu Sep 29 202211:11Tyler Glasnow Has Successful Season Debut
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow made his first start in 2022 since returning from Tommy John surgery on Wednesday against the Cleveland Guardians, and he looked good, allowing an earned run on two hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out three in three innings of work in the 2-1 loss. Glasnow tossed 50 pitches in the outing and almost topped out at 100 mph with his fastball, so it appears he's fully healthy and ready to make an impact for the Rays in the postseason. The 29-year-old right-hander should make one more regular season start, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to go too deep into his second outing of the 2022 season.

Wed Sep 28 202214:34Rays Activate Tyler Glasnow
The Tampa Bay Rays activated starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (elbow) from the 60-day injured list on Wednesday. Glasnow has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery last season and now returns to the Rays' active roster. He last pitched in the Majors in 2021, making 14 starts and working to a 2.66 ERA and a 2.77 FIP in 88 innings pitched. He also registered 123 strikeouts compared to just 27 walks allowed. He's certainly someone to keep an eye on to see how he does ahead of next season.

Mon Sep 26 202211:20Tyler Glasnow To Start Against Guardians Wednesday
Tampa Bay Rays skipper Kevin Cash said that the plan is to activate right-hander Tyler Glasnow (elbow) from the injured list to start on Wednesday at the Cleveland Guardians. Glasnow is expected to be limited to around 45 pitches or two to three innings. The 29-year-old will be making his season debut for the Rays, and although he has fantasy ace potential, he won't be a recommended fantasy starter in his first game back in the big leagues while on an innings cap. That may not be the case if he's able to build up his pitch count in his following outing. If the Rays get Glasnow fully built up for a potential postseason run, it would be a huge boost to their starting rotation in October.

Mon Sep 19 202211:46Tyler Glasnow Strikes Out Four In Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (elbow) threw two scoreless and hitless innings while walking none and striking out four in his latest minor league rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Sunday. Glasnow is recovering from Tommy John surgery and has now made three starts for Durham, allowing an earned run on one hit while walking three and striking out eight in only 4 1/3 innings. The Rays aren't rushing him back, and if Glasnow does return to the team before the end of the regular season or for the playoffs, he'll almost certainly be used in a relief role. The 29-year-old right-hander has the potential to be a fantasy ace when healthy, though, so he'll be a highly coveted arm going into 2023 fantasy drafts if he's 100 percent.

Wed Sep 14 202218:33Tyler Glasnow To Make More Rehab Starts
Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said right-hander Tyler Glasnow (elbow) came out of his second minor league rehab appearance on Tuesday well, but he will make "multiple" more outings for Triple-A Durham. In his two short rehab outings for Durham, the 29-year-old starting pitcher has given up a run while walking three and striking out four in only 2 1/3 innings. Glasnow hasn't pitched at all this season, and the Rays aren't rushing him back, so it's looking likely that he won't have any fantasy appeal the rest of the way. However, Tampa could decide to use him as a hard-throwing relief option out of the bullpen should they make the postseason.

Wed Sep 14 202200:01Tyler Glasnow Throws 31 Pitches In Tuesday's Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (elbow) threw 31 pitches in 1 1/3 innings in Tuesday's 5-4 loss with Triple-A Durham. Glasnow allowed one run on a hit and two walks with two strikeouts in his second rehab start. The Rays will likely ease Glasnow back into action, given that he is recovering from Tommy John surgery. As such, fantasy managers may not have an opportunity to start Glasnow before the end of the regular season. Either way, they should monitor his rehab outings to get a better idea of when he can be expected back.

Fri Sep 9 202219:00Tyler Glasnow Set For Next Rehab Start
Tampa Bay Rays right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow (elbow) is set for another rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Durham after his first rehab outing went well. He only threw one inning in said start, but managed two strikeouts and came out of it feeling good. He will likely throw multiple innings in his next start as he gets stretched out to return to the Rays late in the season. He likely doesn't hold much value, as his rehab will be long after recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he could be worth a stream in the final week if truly needed. He will definitely help the Rays out in the postseason though, granted they make it there.
