Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Janson Junk and the Los Angeles Angels. Leury Garcia is starting at shortstop while Luis Robert is back in the leadoff position. Anderson missed nearly two weeks with a left hamstring strain before making his return in Tuesday's game. He went 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts in his return. Anderson is likely just being eased back into the lineup as we haven't heard any other reasoning for his omission from Wednesday's lineup. Expect to see him back in action on Thursday.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (calf) is unlikely to return to the field this year, according to Angels manager Joe Maddon. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Maddon said that he would be "very surprised" if Trout made it back this year. The update isn't very surprising to hear, but it's the most clarity we've received on Trout in quite some time. The three-time MVP has been out since May 18 with a right calf strain. He played in just 36 games this year and slashed .333/.466/.624 with eight home runs, 18 RBI and 23 runs. His 1.090 OPS on the year was a career-high mark, just slightly higher than his previous career-high of 1.088 in 2018. Expect for him to be one of the first players off the board in all fantasy drafts once again next spring.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (abdomen) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left abdominal strain on Wednesday. Jose Rojas was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. After the transaction, Angels manager Joe Maddon told reporters that he doubts Adell will play again this year. The 22-year-old had a much better showing in the majors in 2021 than he did in 2020. Over 35 games this year, he slashed .246/.295/.408 with four home runs, 26 RBI and 17 runs. He can be dropped in all redraft leagues.

The Texas Rangers have activated outfielder Willie Calhoun (arm) from the injured list. He is playing designated hitter and batting second in Wednesday's game against Jose Urquidy and the Houston Astros. Calhoun was out for about two and a half months after breaking his arm. He played in 59 games with the Rangers before the injury and slashed .254/.323/.385 with five home runs, 19 RBI and 23 runs. He could have some fantasy value in deep leagues or AL-only leagues in the final weeks of the season if he sees regular playing time. The Rangers demoted fellow outfielder Jason Martin to Triple-A to clear space for Calhoun.

The Kansas City Royals placed starting pitcher Mike Minor (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to shoulder impingement syndrome. The team recalled reliever Scott Blewett from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Minor was originally slated to start Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics, but Carlos Hernandez is now starting in his place. Minor might not be able to make it back before the end of the regular season due to the timing of the injury. Over 28 starts this year, he's gone 8-12 with a 5.05 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Wily Peralta will draw the start on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. The veteran has pitched to a 3.32 ERA, a 4.98 FIP, 49 strikeouts and 29 walks in 76 innings this season. In his last outing, the 32-year-old limited a quality Milwaukee Brewers lineup to two hits and a pair of walks in six shutout innings. He also struck out five batters. Still, it'll be a tough matchup for Peralta on Sunday. The Rays lead all of baseball in runs scored and have hit the sixth-most home runs. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help on Sunday.

Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal will get the start on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. It'll be a rematch as the left-hander faced the same Rays team and starter Luis Patino in his last outing. Skubal struck out six in three innings against Tampa Bay on September 12, allowing just one hit and a walk. With the Tigers limiting Skubal's innings via shorter starts, Skubal won't have a ton of streaming appeal in a matchup with baseball's highest-scoring team. That being said, fantasy managers in deeper leagues could give Skubal a look if they're looking for a few more strikeouts. The rookie has 26 strikeouts in his last 16 innings. Overall, the 24-year-old has pitched to a 4.21 ERA, a 4.88 FIP, 160 strikeouts, and 46 walks in 139 innings this season.

Houston Astros outfielder Michael Brantley (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list with right knee discomfort on Wednesday. Brantley missed the team's past three games. Astros manager Dusty Baker told reporters on Tuesday that Brantley could return and play designated hitter on Friday, but clearly Brantley wasn't healing fast enough to make that happen. The 34-year-old veteran has slashed .315/.367/.441 over 116 games on the year. Chas McCormick and Jose Siri should both see a boost in playing time with Brantley out.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize will start on Friday in a matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays. The rookie has pitched to a 3.66 ERA, a 4.84 FIP, 108 strikeouts, and 40 walks in 140.1 innings this season. Detroit has been limiting Mize's innings with shorter starters lately, so there isn't a ton of fantasy upside for Friday's start outside of the deepest leagues. Mize only threw two innings in his last start, against the same Rays he'll face on Friday, and gave up three hits, three earned runs, and a walk in two innings while striking out a pair.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Tyler Alexander is set to start on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Alexander has made 37 appearances, 11 of which were starts, for the Tigers this season. The left-hander has pitched to a 4.09 ERA and a 4.50 FIP in 83.2 innings with 71 strikeouts and 21 walks. In his last start, Alexander allowed five hits, two walks, and an earned run in 4.1 innings against the same Rays team he'll face on Thursday. He could have some streaming appeal, but only in deeper leagues against a Tampa Bay team that has scored the most runs in baseball.

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers and right-hander Kohei Arihara. Bregman is hitting .297 with a .375 on-base percentage, 10 home runs, and a stolen base in 331 plate appearances this season. He'll head to the bench with Marwin Gonzalez starting in his place at third and batting seventh. In 278 plate appearances this season, Gonzalez is hitting .201 with a .278 on-base percentage, three home runs, and three stolen bases. Fantasy managers are probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help.

New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo will begin Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles and left-hander John Means on the bench. The 27-year-old is batting .199 with a .355 on-base percentage, 34 home runs, and six stolen bases in 563 plate appearances this season. Aaron Judge, who started Tuesday's game in center field, is moving back to right field in place of Gallo. Brett Gardner is batting eighth and starting in center field on Wednesday. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help in the outfield. The 37-year-old is hitting .220 with a .331 on-base percentage, eight home runs, and three stolen bases in 395 plate appearances this year.

Miami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Trevor Rogers only made it through four innings in Wednesday's start against the Washington Nationals. The Marlins ended up winning the game late, leaving Rogers with a no decision. In his four innings, he was able to limit damage, allowing just one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out three. Rogers was inefficient, needing 84 pitches (59 strikes) to record his 12 outs of the night. He'll take a 2.71 ERA into his next start.

Miami Marlins rookie outfielder Bryan De La Cruz just keeps on getting on base and scoring runs. On Wednesday against the Washington Nationals, De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored, and two RBI. His hit was a solo homer in the eighth inning, giving him five home runs and 17 RBI. He's hitting .336 with an .882 OPS. The Marlins are hoping this is more than a mirage and that De La Cruz, acquired for Yimi Garcia before the trade deadline, can be a starting outfielder in 2022.

Miami Marlins rookie outfielder Jesus Sanchez hit two home runs in Wednesday's win over the Washington Nationals. Sanchez went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Both of his homers were two-run shots, with his second one serving as the game winner. Sanchez has been on fire lately, and he's up to an .804 OPS, 12 home runs, and 31 RBI. It may be a hot streak, but the Marlins are hoping it's just him hitting his potential at the end of his rookie year.

Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (shoulder) is back in the lineup Wednesday versus Alec Mills and the Cubs. Realmuto will play first base with Andrew Knapp getting another game behind the plate as Realmuto continues to nurse a shoulder injury. Philadelphia announced Realmuto would see more time at first base to try and keep its All-Star catcher healthy down the stretch as Realmuto has been battling a few nagging injuries including his shoulder and ankle. The 30-year-old backstop is having another fine season with a .262/.349/.434 slash line with 14 homers and 10 stolen bases to lead all catchers in thefts. Realmuto should be back in fantasy lineups in all formats.

Miami Marlins first baseman Jesus Aguilar (knee) is not expected to be able to return to the field this season. Aguilar was placed on the injured list last week, and it seems like he will simply run out of time and won't be able to return before the end of the season. The big first baseman ends his season with 22 home runs, 93 RBI, and a .788 OPS. He put up 1.3 fWAR in 131 games and could be back with the Marlins next season. The 31-year-old is under team control until 2023.

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Willy Adames (quad) participated in pregame drills ahead of Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. He ran and participated in fielding drills on Wednesday. Adames was placed on the 10-day injured list last Sunday with a quad injury. The 26-year-old remains day-to-day but is trending in the right direction to be activated from the injured list by early next week. "We are in a good spot and I don't have to rush it and try to be quicker," said Adames. "I think we can take the right time to get rid of it completely and come back 100 percent. I feel about 90 [percent] right now. I feel great." Luis Urias will continue to handle shortstop duties while Adames is sidelined. Urias has played well in Adames' absence, slashing .273/.360/.455 with a home run and three RBI over his last six contests.

Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He will get the day off after hitting .162 (6-for-37) with an RBI over his last 11 games. Sam Hilliard (elbow) is in the lineup, batting sixth and starting in left field. Hilliard returns to the lineup after getting hit by a pitch in Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 27-year-old hit .375 (3-for-8) with a homer and two RBI over his last three games. Hilliard can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats.

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber (shoulder) allowed one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three across 2 2/3 innings in Tuesday's rehab start with Triple-A Columbus. He has been sidelined since mid-June with a strained right shoulder. The Guardians are out of the playoff race and won't rush their ace back into action. He owned a (7-4) record along with a 3.28 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 90 2/3 innings before landing on the injured list. Fantasy managers should continue to stash the Cleveland ace as he could come back for one or two more starts before the season ends.
