Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. He went 2-for-5 with a two-run shot in Tuesday's win. The 25-year-old will get the day off slashing .375/.360/.500 with six RBI over his last seven games. Fantasy managers with daily moves need to remove Verdugo from their lineups. Jose Iglesias is starting at second base while Kike' Hernandez shifts to centerfield. Iglesias is hitting .556 (5-for-9) with a homer over his last three games and can be used as a streamer for Wednesday's slate.

Tampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle will take a seat on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to MLB.com. Wendle has put up decent offensive numbers this season, slashing .274/.324./436 with 10 HRs and seven stolen bases over 122 games. He's a fine player to roster in many leagues, not hurting fantasy managers in any specific category. However, Wendle has batted just .198 off of left-handers this season, so it wouldn't be a good matchup with Robbie Ray on the bump. Taylor Walls is in the lineup playing shortstop and batting eighth. Walls has almost no fantasy value, as he owns a .609 OPS with one home run and four steals across 48 games. He should be left on the wire in favor of better infield options.

Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto reached base four more times Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with an intentional walk and an RBI in an 8-2 victory over the Miami Marlins. He's now reached base four times in four of his last six games. He's the only batter in the major leagues with more walks than strikeouts, and he's registered a massive 120 walks to only 83 strikeouts. Soto is a walking cheat code right now...literally...and he needs to get a long look as the first overall pick in 2022 drafts.

Washington Nationals shortstop Alcides Escobar drove in two runs with a double and a sacrifice fly against the Miami Marlins in an 8-2 win, going 1-for-4 on the day. Despite just a .691 OPS on the season, Escobar has racked up 41 runs scored and 20 RBI in 242 at-bats from the second spot in the lineup. He's readily available in almost all leagues, so fantasy managers in deeper formats can look to him as a low-cost fallback option.

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi is absent from Wednesday's lineup to take on the Toronto Blue Jays. Choi is slashing .242/.349/.434 with 10 HRs over 70 games, making him a good player in OBP leagues specifically. However, he's hitting just .203 with no home runs over 66 plate appearances against lefties, so with Robbie Ray on the mound, he will take a seat. Jordan Luplow will take Choi's spot at first base and bat seventh. Luplow's having a productive season with a .776 OPS and 10 HRs in 56 games but has put up uncharacteristically poor numbers against lefties this season with a .167/.323/.359 slash line. Fantasy managers can look elsewhere for outfield help.

Washington Nationals outfielder Lane Thomas reached base three times Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. He's slashing .301/.392/.524 with 20 runs and 17 RBI over his last 30 games, and fantasy managers simply cannot ignore his production any longer. Despite little pedigree, Thomas is having a major impact from the leadoff spot, and he should do the same for the rest of the fantasy season.

Washington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman hit a prodigious home run to right-center field against the Miami Marlins Tuesday. It was his 14th homer of the season and his only hit in five at-bats. Zimmerman has slashed .297/.321/.604 against lefty pitching this year, making him a viable play on those days when Washington draws a lefty. It would be hard to roster him in weekly leagues, but in deeper daily formats he's worth an add.

Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz had the first three-hit game of his career Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with a run scored against the Miami Marlins in an 8-2 victory. Ruiz only has eight hits in the first 44 at-bats of his young career, but he's showing signs that he could be a top-10 catcher as soon as 2022. Despite the promise of plenty of playing time the rest of the way, he should be ignored in redraft formats for now. Keeper and dynasty managers should add him immediately.

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Robbie Ray and the Toronto Blue Jays. Meadows is slashing .232/.313/.454 with 25 HRs in 130 games but has just a .532 OPS off of lefties this season. With Meadows on the bench, Randy Arozarena will shift to left, and Manuel Margot will get the start in right field and bat second. Margot is slashing .268/.339/.405 against lefties and does have 12 SBs this season, so he isn't a bad streaming option in deep leagues.

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Erick Fedde had a strong showing against the Miami Marlins Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and no walks in five innings of work with eight strikeouts. He was credited with the win, raising his record to 7-9. Despite this performance, Fedde should still not be an add down the stretch run of the fantasy season, as he has an ERA over five in each of the last three calendar months.

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Tyler Anderson only allowed one run to the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, on a J.D. Martinez solo home run, but he could not complete five innings, exiting after 4 1/3 having given up four hits and two walks while striking out five. He took a no-decision. He's now failed to complete five innings twice in a row after doing so in every outing the rest of the season. Fantasy managers only roster Anderson for the safe floor he provides, but these recent outings are reason enough to send him to the wire.

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was effective once again Tuesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk in five innings against the Seattle Mariners. He struck out nine batters and took a no-decision in the 8-4 victory. Eovaldi hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a start since August 6, and has a 1.90 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 56 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings during that span. Fantasy managers should see plenty of volume from him going forward, as Boston may arrange their rotation to maximize Eovaldi and Chris Sale's starts.

Washington Nationals second baseman Luis Garcia is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Miami Marlins, according to MLB.com. It's a rare day off for the rookie, who has started the past 18 days. Garcia is slashing .231/.271/.407 with five home runs over 56 games. The power hasn't quite shown up yet after smacking 13 HRs in 37 Triple-A contests the year. Jordy Mercer will get the start at second and bat seventh against the left-handed Trevor Rogers. Mercer has a .683 OPS across 38 games this season but is hitting .306 against lefties and could be a deep league streaming option.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Kyle Schwarber did not start against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday with lefty Tyler Anderson was on the mound, but he came on as a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded in the eighth inning and cleared the bases with a double. Schwarber has slashed just .143/.250/.190 in his last seven games, and a slew of matchups against lefty pitching makes him a weaker play this week, but he has enough power that fantasy managers will be hard-pressed to find a better option.

Boston Red Sox first baseman Bobby Dalbec continued his torrid stretch Tuesday night, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run, his 22nd of the season. Dalbec has a very favorable set of matchups this week, with five more left-handed starters scheduled to come his way. He's slashing .277/.323/.516 against lefties this year. Fantasy managers who were savvy enough to add Dalbec need to keep him active all week, despite the fact that he may be removed for pinch-hitters when right-handed relievers enter the game.

Miami Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. will get a day off Wednesday against the Washington Nationals, according to MLB.com. The 23-year old rookie is slashing .250/.306/.425, but does provide power and speed with 15 HRs and 21 SBs in 107 games. Chisholm Jr. isn't a top fantasy second baseman but offers good value at a shallow position. Joe Panik will take his spot at the keystone and bat sixth. He should be left on the waiver wire in all leagues with his .555 OPS this season and better second-base options out there.

Boston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez hit his 26th homer of the year Tuesday night, going 2-for-5 with two RBI against the Seattle Mariners in an 8-4 victory. Despite the occasional stretch of looking lost at the plate, Martinez has produced an .867 OPS with 85 runs and 91 RBI on the year. He's been an excellent value for those fantasy managers who looked past his dismal 2020 campaign, and he should be a lineup mainstay this year and into next.

On Tuesday, New York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman went six effective innings against the Cardinals, allowing only two earned runs on four hits and one walk, while striking out eight. Unfortunately, the Mets wasted Stroman's performance by losing 7-6 in 11 innings. Tuesday's performance was Stroman's second quality start in a row, and fifth out of his last six starts. In three September starts (at a time when fantasy managers need him the most), Stroman has posted a 3.12 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, to go with 17 strikeouts over 17 1/3 innings pitched. On the season, Stroman has a 2.88 ERA (eighth-lowest ERA in MLB), 1.12 WHIP, and a 151:40 K:BB ratio over 169 IP and 31 starts. Even more impressively, Stroman is tied with Max Scherzer and Walker Buehler with the most starts of no more than two earned runs allowed this season at 23. Stroman has far exceeded the expectations of fantasy managers this season and should continue to remain active in all formats. Stroman will be a free agent at the end of the 2021 campaign. The Mets would be wise to lock up Stroman to a long-term contract given the pitching injuries they have suffered to their starting staff this season.

Detroit Tigers catcher/outfielder Eric Haase is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, according to MLB.com. Haase has been a nice addition to the Tigers offense this season, slashing .233/.287/.482 with 21 HRs, 55 RBI, 44 runs, and two stolen bases over 85 games. Backup Dustin Garneau will do the catching duties in his place and bat eighth. In just 11 games this season, he's hitting .265 with three home runs and is slugging .647. Fantasy managers shouldn't look too deep into his numbers in such a small sample size and are better off looking for another catching option with Brandon Woodruff on the mound for the Brewers.
