Mon May 9 202209:30Luke Voit Could Be Activated On Friday
San Diego Padres first baseman Luke Voit (biceps) is back with the team in San Diego. According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com, he will be taking live at-bats at Petco Park this week and there's hope that he could be activated on Friday, ahead of the team's three-game road series against the Atlanta Braves. Voit has been out since April 22 due to a biceps injury. However, Voit stated this weekend that the injury has "essentially subsided entirely." The 31-year-old slugger struggled out of the gate this year prior to the injury. Over his first 13 games as a Padre, he slashed .143/.315/.167 with only one extra-base hit, a double.

Thu May 5 202221:13Luke Voit Needs One More Week
San Diego Padres first baseman Luke Voit (biceps) will need another week on his rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso. His biceps has responded well, but the 31-year-old is expected to get a week's worth of at-bats with El Paso to get his timing on track. He is 0-for-6 with a run scored, two walks and two strikeouts through his first two games with the Chihuahuas. "I think he's still looking to find his swing a little bit," Padres bench coach Ryan Christenson said. "I don't think the biceps is an issue anymore. I think after about four or five days of the medicines they have him on; he was already starting to feel better. I think he's very comfortable with where his health is. Right now, I think it's just about him getting down there, getting his at-bats and finding his swing the way he wants to find it, and coming back ready to roll." Voit is slashing .143/.315/.167 with five RBI, five runs and a stolen base over 13 games in 2022. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Voit, as the former New York Yankee will look to return in a few weeks.

Tue May 3 202215:08Luke Voit Begins Rehab Assignment Tuesday
San Diego Padres first baseman/designated hitter Luke Voit (biceps) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. Barring any setbacks, Voit might be able to rejoin the Padres later this week. Before his injury, the former New York Yankee was the team's primary DH, so fantasy managers should expect him to return to that role when he comes off the injured list. Voit packs plenty of power in his right-handed bat, but he was off to a slow start in his first 13 games for the Friars, going 6-for-42 with no home runs, five RBI and 17 strikeouts. The Padres have been rotating names like Luis Campusano, Manny Machado, Jurickson Profar, Eric Hosmer and Matt Beaty at DH in the past week with Voit sidelined.

Sun Apr 24 202212:37Luke Voit Lands On Injured List
The San Diego Padres placed first baseman/designated hitter Luke Voit (biceps) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a biceps tendon injury and recalled catcher Luis Campusano from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Voit's injured list stint will be retroactive to Saturday. The 31-year-old slugger was not in the starting lineup on Saturday and will now miss at least the next 10 days. Campusano will serve as additional catching depth for the Friars behind Austin Nola and Jorge Alfaro. Voit is off to a slow start in his first season in San Diego, as he's still looking for his first home run of the season while going 6-for-42 with five RBI, 10 walks and 17 strikeouts in his first 13 games played.

Sat Apr 23 202218:03Luke Voit Dealing With Biceps Injury
San Diego Padres first baseman Luke Voit (biceps) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jorge Alfaro will be slotting in at designated hitter for the contest. According to Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Voit is currently dealing with a biceps issue. He is getting an MRI on Saturday. At this point, it's unclear if it's just a minor biceps issue or something that could require a stint on the injured list. The 31-year-old is off to a rough start to his Padres career, slashing just .143/.315/.167 over 13 games. He is still yet to hit his first home run as a Padre.

Wed Apr 20 202214:18Luke Voit Out, C.J. Abrams In Against Reds
San Diego Padres first baseman/designated hitter Luke Voit is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds. Voit is 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in his last two games and will take the day off. Manny Machado will serve as the DH in this one, with Ha-Seong Kim moving to third base and shortstop prospect C.J. Abrams getting the start at the 6 while batting eighth against Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez. Voit is off to a slow start in his first year with the Friars, going 6-for-39 with no homers, five RBI and 10 strikeouts in 12 games. Abrams, a 21-year-old with elite speed, has a home run and a stolen base in his first 26 major league at-bats, but his DFS upside is limited while hitting at the bottom of the order.

Sun Apr 17 202216:14Luke Voit Getting A Breather On Sunday
San Diego Padres designated hitter Luke Voit is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Bryce Elder and the Atlanta Braves. Jake Cronenworth is slotting in at designated hitter for the game. This will be Voit's first day off of the year. The 31-year-old is slashing just .176/.349/.206 through 10 games. He has yet to hit his first home run as a Padre. His saving grace at the plate has been his ability to draw walks as he has eight so far on the year.

Fri Mar 18 202211:54Padres Trade For Luke Voit
The San Diego Padres are acquiring first baseman Luke Voit from the New York Yankees on Friday in exchange for minor league pitcher Justin Lang. Voit could settle into the regular designated hitter role for the Padres this year, and he should help replace some power that will be lost with superstar shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. out for three months due to a fractured wrist. The Yankees no longer had a need for Voit after re-signing Anthony Rizzo and trading for third baseman Josh Donaldson. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger had 20-plus home runs in both 2019 and 2020, when he led the league with 22 dingers in the shortened season, but he hit just .239 with 11 round-trippers and 35 RBI in 68 games last year. Voit is useful for his power and not much else, and the move to Petco Park is a slight downgrade.

Sun Oct 3 202114:31Luke Voit Transferred To 60-Day Injured List
The New York Yankees transferred first baseman Luke Voit (knee) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list on Sunday. He is dealing with left knee inflammation and will officially not be available for the postseason now, no matter how deep the Yankees go. The 30-year-old struggled to stay healthy this year and was inconsistent when active. Over 68 games, he slashed .239/.328/.437 with 11 home runs, 35 RBI and 26 runs.

Thu Sep 30 202118:44Luke Voit Placed On Injured List
The New York Yankees have placed first baseman Luke Voit (knee) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, according to the team. Voit experienced left knee inflammation during Wednesday's game and was taken out early as a precaution. He was expected to avoid an IL stint, which clearly isn't the case. Voit has had a disappointing year and hasn't been able to replicate the power stroke he found last season. During an injury-filled campaign, he's slashing .239/.328/.437 with 11 HRs over 68 games. With the season coming to a close, he won't return and isn't a guarantee to appear in the playoffs. The Yankees have recalled right-hander Albert Abreu in a corresponding move.

Wed Sep 29 202122:29Luke Voit Tweaks Knee, Expected To Be OK
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit (knee) is expected to be OK after appearing to be in discomfort during the seventh inning after his pinch-hit appearance on Wednesday, according to manager Aaron Boone. Voit was replaced by utility man Tyler Wade in the bottom of the seventh inning for defensive purposes and was not going to be deployed in the field, regardless. Voit has been glued to the Yankees bench now that first baseman Anthony Rizzo has been healthy, so the injury scare probably won't affect his playing time all that much. Voit should remain on waivers as the 2021 campaign comes to a close.

Fri Sep 24 202118:51Luke Voit Isn't Starting On Friday
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit isn't starting on Friday against the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Voit is hitting .241 with a .329 on-base percentage and 11 home runs in 240 plate appearances this season. Voit has just two hits in his last 26 plate appearances, but both were home runs. Including Friday's game, the first baseman has started just three of New York's last seven games. It'll be Anthony Rizzo starting at first base and hitting second against Boston. Rizzo is hitting .249 with a .348 on-base percentage, 20 home runs, and six stolen bases in 538 plate appearances this season.

Sat Sep 18 202117:11Luke Voit Belts Two-Run Homer Saturday
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and a walk in Saturday's loss to the Indians. Voit swatted a homer in the eighth inning with the game already out of hand, registering a 105.5 MPH exit velocity on the 403-foot blast. The slugging first baseman has had a quiet September, but has now left the yard twice in the last three games, perhaps a sign of things to come. It's been a disappointing campaign for Voit, who led the majors in homers a year ago.

Fri Sep 17 202118:59Luke Voit On The Bench On Friday
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit isn't in the lineup on Friday for a matchup with the Cleveland Indians and right-hander Zach Plesac. Voit is batting .246 with a .332 on-base percentage and 10 home runs in 229 plate appearances this season. Instead, Anthony Rizzo starting at first base and batting second against Cleveland on Friday. Rizzo has now started at first base in six of New York's last seven games. Meanwhile, including Friday's contest, Voit has started just three of New York's last seven games. It's certainly not an ideal situation at this point in the season for fantasy managers who drafted Voit. The first baseman's playing time will be worth monitoring in the season's final weeks.

Wed Sep 15 202108:24Luke Voit Homers In Tuesday's Win
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in Tuesday's 7-2 win over Baltimore. Voit has had a bit of a quiet September but swatted his second long ball of the month in the third inning Tuesday, a 109.4 MPH blast that traveled 405 feet. The slugging first baseman has been a fantasy disappointment this season- due to injuries and the arrival of Anthony Rizzo in New York. Still, Voit has been plenty capable when locked in, such as his two-homer, 11-RBI stretch in August. Fantasy managers should continue to roll him out there, as he still sports some promising Statcast metrics.

Fri Sep 10 202109:38Luke Voit Clubs Pinch-Hit Home Run
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit clubbed a pinch-hit homer in the ninth inning of Thursday's loss to Toronto. Voit was stuck in a 1-for-14 slump heading into the contest, so it was nice to see him deliver after manager Aaron Boone turned to him in a key situation. The slugger has taken a backseat to Anthony Rizzo at first base, with his only playing time coming in the form of starts at designated hitter. Voit owns a respectable .253/.333/.442 slash line with nine homers, 32 RBI, and 24 runs scored in 190 at-bats. Still, it's been a disappointing season for the slugger, as he has been unable to live up to his ADP- and his upside is severely limited given his current lack of playing time.

Thu Sep 9 202117:52Luke Voit On The Bench Thursday
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit isn't starting on Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays and right-handed starter Jose Berrios. Voit is batting .249 with a .330 on-base percentage and eight home runs in 212 plate appearances this season. Anthony Rizzo is starting at first base and batting third for New York on Thursday. Voit's playing time will certainly be worth monitoring moving forward with Rizzo on the roster. Voit has now started just three of the team's last seven games. All three of those starts have come at designated hitter, a position Giancarlo Stanton generally starts at for the Yankees.

Sat Aug 21 202101:50Luke Voit Makes Statement Friday
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit has been backing up his talk lately, and he added an exclamation point on Friday night. Voit went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, four RBI, and two runs scored. Suddenly a down year is looking up for the slugger, who has seven home runs, 21 runs scored, and 26 RBI in 154 at-bats. He's produced a .423/.464/.846 slash line over his last seven games, and surely should see increased playing time as a result. Add him now if he was dropped to the wire.

Wed Aug 18 202101:41Luke Voit Homers In Game Two Tuesday
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit had a strong day Tuesday, going deep in the nightcap against the Boston Red Sox. He went 1-for-2 with a walk, two RBI, and a run scored in the first game, and 1-for-3 with his sixth home run of the year in the second game, a solo shot off Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi. Voit is now slashing .315/.413/.500 with three homers and 13 RBI over his last 15 games and 54 at-bats, possibly earning him a role greater than that of pinch-hitter when Anthony Rizzo reurns. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on how the playing time shakes out going forward.

Mon Aug 16 202102:02Luke Voit Homers Sunday Against White Sox
New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit had a big game against the Chicago White Sox Sunday, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. It was his fifth home run of the year. The big first baseman appeared to be the odd man out after New York's trade deadline acquisition of Anthony Rizzo, but he's attempting to make the most of his opportunity now that Rizzo is on the COVID list. Voit has been disappointing in his 137 at-bats this season, posting just a .693 OPS. He figures to see greatly reduced playing time once Rizzo returns, and is only borderline rosterable.
