Fri Sep 3 202108:32Akil Baddoo Homers For The Second Straight Game
Detroit Tigers outfielder went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBI in the team's 8-6 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Thursday. The home run was his second in as many games and he now has 12 home runs over 100 games on the year. The rookie struggled to the tune of a .200/.200/.280 slash line in August. However, he has had some fantastic stretches this year. He homered in four of his first eight games of the year in April and in June, he slashed .348/.434/.455 while stealing five bases. He could have another hot streak coming and is worth monitoring for all fantasy managers. He has the ability to contribute in several categories, most notably stolen bases as he has 14 over 100 games this year.

Thu Sep 2 202109:55Akil Baddoo Homers, Reaches Base Three Times
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo helped lead the team to an 8-6 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday. He went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. The home run was his 11th of the year and his first since July 27. The walk was also his first walk since July 29. Baddoo had a rough time at the plate in August. He missed about two weeks due to a concussion, but slashed just .200/.200/.280 in the 13 games he played last month. Baddoo has considerable upside due to his power and speed potential. He has 14 stolen bases on the year. We'll see if Wednesday's game can help get him back on track.

Tue Aug 31 202118:29Akil Baddoo Isn't Starting On Tuesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo isn't in the lineup on Tuesday for a matchup with the Oakland Athletics and left-handed starter Cole Irvin. Baddoo is batting .258 with a .322 on-base percentage, 10 home runs, and 14 stolen bases in 351 plate appearances this season. Detroit will go with Willi Castro in left field in Baddoo's place. Castro, who is batting seventh against Irvin, is currently hitting .216 with a .271 on-base percentage. He's also added nine home runs and six stolen bases in 391 plate appearances. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming options in the outfield on Tuesday, especially considering the matchup with Irvin. The left-hander has pitched to a 3.68 ERA and a 3.73 FIP in 144.1 innings this season.

Fri Aug 27 202117:31Akil Baddoo Not In Friday's Lineup
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo isn't in the team's lineup on Friday for a matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays and left-handed starter Steven Matz. The 22-year-old has been one of the best rookie hitters in baseball this season, batting .261 with a .327 on-base percentage, 10 home runs, and 14 stolen bases in 339 plate appearances. Robbie Grossman is moving over to left field with Daz Cameron taking his place in right field and batting sixth. Considering Grossman starts most days for Detroit, this is essentially Cameron replacing Baddoo in the lineup. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help in the outfield on Friday. The 24-year-old is batting .184 with a .244 on-base percentage, three home runs, and four stolen bases in 82 plate appearances this season.

Wed Aug 25 202112:26Akil Baddoo Sitting Against Lefty On Wednesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against left-hander Jon Lester and the St. Louis Cardinals. Derek Hill is getting the start in center field and batting leadoff in the game. The left-handed Baddoo has hit significantly better against righties than lefties this year. He has a .279/.349/.528 slash line and 10 home runs over 229 at-bats against righties while he has a .211/.265/.250 slash line and one home run over 76 at-bats against lefties. Baddoo returned from a two-week stay on the injured list on Monday and went on to go 0-for-5 in his first game back on Tuesday. The Tigers are off on Thursday, then they face another lefty in Toronto Blue Jays starter Steven Matz on Friday. We might see Baddoo back in the lineup for that game if just to keep him active.

Mon Aug 23 202120:55Akil Baddoo Activated From Injured List Monday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo (concussion) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday, the team announced on Twitter. Baddoo has been out of action since August 11, after suffering a concussion on a collision with Derek Hill in the outfield. He's been having a nice rookie season in 2021, slashing .267/.333/.467 with 10 homers, 14 steals, 45 RBI and 44 runs scored over 93 games. To make room for Baddoo, the Tigers designated relief pitcher Drew Hutchison for assignment. Managers should plug him back into their lineups on Tuesday.

Wed Aug 18 202121:20Akil Baddoo, Derek Hill Set For Rehab Assignment Wednesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday. He was placed on the 7-day concussion list after colliding with Derek Hill in the outfield last week. Hill and Baddoo will both begin their rehab assignments on Wednesday that could last through the weekend. Barring a setback, both Tigers outfielders are expected to be activated early next week. Fantasy managers should continuously monitor the status of both Hill and Baddoo as both have been solid options this season. Baddoo is slashing .267/.333/.467 with 10 homers, 14 steals, 45 RBI, and 44 runs over 93 games. Hill is mainly an option for managers looking for speed as the 25-year-old has swiped six bags in over 28 games.

Tue Aug 17 202117:22Akil Baddoo Likely To Go On Rehab Assignment
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo (concussion) will likely go on a rehab assignment before he returns to action, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. It had been reported earlier in the day on Tuesday that Baddoo would be back in action soon, but now it looks like he'll be out another couple days before his return to Detroit's lineup. Baddoo suffered the concussion after colliding with Derek Hill in the outfield last week, and has now been out of action since Wednesday. Managers should keep an eye out for further updates on his condition, as he's been a solid play in fantasy this year by slashing .267/.333/.467 with 10 homers, 14 steals, 45 RBI and 44 runs scored over 93 games.

Tue Aug 17 202112:18Akil Baddoo Expected Back In The Next Few Days
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo (concussion) will likely be back from the 7-day injured list during their current series against the Los Angeles Angels, according to Tigers managers A.J. Hinch. He still needs to clear some tests before he can be activated, however. Baddoo landed on the IL on August 11 after an outfield collision with teammate Derek Hill. The quick return is good news for fantasy managers rostering Baddoo, who came out of nowhere to give good production during his rookie season. He is slashing .267/.333/.467 with 10 HRs, 45 RBI, 44 runs, and 14 SBs. If he is still available on the waiver wire, he is a good option with him supplying double-digit homers and steals and has been hitting in the leadoff spot recently.

Wed Aug 11 202112:31Akil Baddoo Placed On The Concussion IL
The Detroit Tigers will place outfielder Akil Baddoo (head) on the 7-day injured list after being diagnosed with a concussion. He suffered a concussion during a collision in the outfield with Derek Hill on Tuesday. According to manager A.J. Hinch, Baddoo also hurt his shoulder during the collision. The 22-year-old will be able to join the team once he clears MLB concussion protocols. Detroit will also be without Derek Hill (rib) and will be short-handed in the outfield. Eric Haase and Niko Goodrum should see additional playing time while both Hill and Baddoo are sidelined.

Wed Aug 11 202106:49Akil Baddoo Likely Out At Least A Couple Days
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo (head/shoulder) is slated to undergo testing for a concussion and a shoulder injury. He suffered the injuries during a collision in the outfield with Derek Hill (ribs) on Tuesday. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told the media that it was likely Baddoo would be out at least a couple days and potentially require a stint on the injured list. With Hill also being day-to-day, the Tigers will be shorthanded in the outfield for at least the next few games. Niko Goodrum and Eric Haase will likely start alongside Robbie Grossman in the outfield for the time being.

Wed Aug 11 202100:03Akil Baddoo, Derek Hill Exit After Collision
Detroit Tigers outfielders Akil Baddoo and Derek Hill exited Tuesday's game after colliding with each other in the outfield, according to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. Baddoo and Hill collided hard on the warning track and were down on the ground for a moment before walking off the field under their own power. There's no word yet on the specific injury, although it may just be they were shaken up and sore from the hit. Consider them day-to-day for now and check for updates after the game.

Thu Aug 5 202111:34Akil Baddoo Taking A Seat Against Lefty On Thursday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against left-hander Martin Perez and the Boston Red Sox. The team is going with Derek Hill, Robbie Grossman and Victor Reyes in the outfield. Grossman is leading off in the game. The left-handed Baddoo started Wednesday's game with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound. He went on to go 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in the game, so it's not surprising to see him sitting out on Thursday. Over the year, he's slashing .200/.260/.214 against lefties and .284/.359/.555 against righties. He should be back in the lineup for Friday's game against right-hander Cal Quantrill and the Cleveland Indians.

Sat Jul 31 202114:28Akil Baddoo Heading To The Bench On Saturday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against left-hander John Means and the Baltimore Orioles. Derek Hill is getting the start in center field and leading off in the game. Baddoo has slashed .200/.264/.215 against lefties this year while slashing .292/.368/.569 against righties. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch has been sitting Baddoo pretty regularly when a lefty has been on the mound and that trend may continue. Baddoo has been a strong source of stolen bases (nine over the past two months) and he has been hitting for more power lately so he has solid value in a number of fantasy formats.

Wed Jul 28 202109:33Akil Baddoo Hits His 10th Home Run On Tuesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo helped lead the team to a 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Baddoo went 2-for-5 with a home run and a double in the game. The home run was his 10th of the year and his fifth over his last 11 games. Baddoo is tapping into much more power this month than he was during his breakout June. He's slugging .506 in July after slugging .455 with no home runs in June. However, he has a .259 batting average this month, down from .348 in June. Baddoo is providing solid all-around value right now, highlighted by his 14 stolen bases on the year. He's worth starting in all but the most shallow of leagues at this point.

Sun Jul 25 202102:43Sandoval loses no-hitter in 9th, Angels beat Twins 2-1
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Patrick Sandoval had his no-hit bid broken up with one out in the ninth inning on a soft double by rookie Brent Rooker and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Saturday night. Sandoval, a 24-year-old lefty who began the game with a 3-13 career record, struck out a career-high 13. There have already been seven no-hitters in the majors this season. The big league record of eight was set in 1884, the first year overhand pitching was permitted. The Twins hadn’t come close to a hit until Rooker, who fanned his first three times up, flared an opposite-field fly that fell just inside the line in right. Sandoval (3-4) smiled after the ball fell, retired the next batter and then was pulled after 108 pitches. He walked one and hit two. Closer Raisel Iglesias allowed an RBI double to Josh Donaldson before getting his 21st save in 25 chances. José Berríos (7-5) allowed two unearned runs in seven innings in perhaps his final start for Minnesota. ASTROS 4, RANGERS... [More]
