Oakland’s string is its longest since it won a franchise-record 20 in a row in 2002. LHP Lucas Luetge was signed to a minor-league deal after being released by the Reds on June 1. The Orioles assigned him to Triple-A Norfolk. Luetge was 3-5 with a 4.35 ERA in 111 games with Mariners from 2012 to 2015. He could eventually provide depth for the bullpen in Baltimore.

LHP Lucas Luetge was selected by the Angels from Triple-A Salt Lake City to add him to the major league roster on Sunday. Luetge will be making his Angels debut out of the bullpen. His last major league appearance was April 25, 2015, with the Seattle Mariners.

Luetge was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, Shannon Drayer of ESPN 710 AM in Seattle reports.

Luetge has made only one appearance for the Mariners this season, spending the bulk of the year at Triple-A. Saturday's move simply removes him from the 40-man roster, making it even more likely that he'll finish out the year at Tacoma.

Luetge was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, the Tacoma News-Tribune's Bob Dutton reports.

Joe Beimel took a leave of absence for personal reasons so the Mariners needed bullpen reinforcements. Don't look for Luetge to get too many opportunities in high leverage situations while he is up with the Mariners.

Roenis Elias was called back up from Triple-A Tacoma to pitch on Sunday. Luetge pitched 2.1 scoreless and hitless innings while striking out two batters and walking two as well. This was Luetge's first game with the Mariners this season.

He will serve as another lefty in the Mariners' bullpen in the short term, but with several more accomplished relievers already on the roster, Luetge is unlikely to be used in many high-leverage spots. He had a 3.32 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 62.1 innings at Triple-A last season.

Luetge, who was competing for a left-handed bullpen job, was optioned to Tripe-A on Friday, the Seattle Times reports.

For the second year in a row, Luetge failed to make the roster out of spring training. He'll likely bounce between Tacoma and Seattle again this year. Luetge's fate was perhaps sealed last week after consecutive poor outings in which he gave up three runs and five hits in 1.2 innings. Rafael Perez was also cut, leaving David Rollins, Tyler Olson and Joe Saunders competing for the second lefty role behind Charlie Furbush. There's no guarantee, though, the Mariners keep two left-handers.

Luetge was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Aside from a handful appearances with the major league club in the first half, Luetge has spent the year at Tacoma, posting a 3.32 ERA and 10.1 K/9 in 62.1 innings. He's earned a spot on the September roster but may work primarily as a LOOGY over the remainder of the season.

The move frees up a roster spot for the recall of Erasmo Ramirez, who will start Sunday's game against the White Sox.
