Wed May 10 202308:20Noah Syndergaard Might Need An Injured List Stint
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Noah Syndergaard (finger) had to come out of Tuesday's start after just one inning with a cut on his right index finger. After the game, manager Dave Roberts spoke to reporters and said that the 30-year-old may need a trip to the injured list, but they'll know more in the next couple of days, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Syndergaard has struggled to begin his first season with the Dodgers, posting a 6.12 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with just 21 strikeouts over 32.1 innings. If he does miss time, fantasy managers should expect Gavin Stone to get the call once again. In his lone start of the campaign, he allowed five runs (four earned) over four innings of work with one punchout, but he has the talent and owns a 24.6% strikeout rate in Triple-A.

Tue May 9 202322:25Noah Syndergaard Leaves Early With Injury
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) left his start early on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers with a cut on his right index finger. Syndergaard only made it one inning in the contest before hitting the showers, allowing one hit and one walk to lower his ERA to 6.12. Until we know how serious his finger injury is, fantasy managers should consider Thor to be day-to-day. The 30-year-old right-hander hasn't bounced back the way some folks believed he would early in 2023, as he entered his start on Tuesday with a 6.32 ERA (4.75 FIP), 1.40 WHIP, four walks and 21 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings pitched over six starts. Check back on Wednesday to see if there's a chance that he'll make his next start next week against the Minnesota Twins.

Tue Mar 21 202320:26Noah Syndergaard Pitches Through Blister Issue Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (hand) said he wasn't able to really get much footing in the rain on Tuesday during his Cactus League start against the San Francisco Giants, which explains some of his inconsistent velocity. Syndergaard has been dealing with a blister off and on for the last few months, and it was bothering him a bit on Tuesday. The 30-year-old right-hander ended up allowing six earned runs on six hits while walking one in 4 1/3 innings. It's unlikely that Thor won't be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season, but his blister issue is something to watch early on. If he's able to regain some of his pre-Tommy John velocity in his first year in Hollywood, Syndergaard could be a nice value starting pitcher in fantasy.

Sat Feb 25 202311:07Noah Syndergaard Ready To Be Dominant Again?
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Noah Syndergaard thinks he can get back to being a dominant starter again in 2023 in his first season in LA. The 30-year-old was very average with the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies last year in just a year removed from Tommy John surgery. "My recovery game is second to none, my work ethic, my attention to detail and my passion for the craft and the process," Syndergaard said. "So it doesn't make a whole lot of sense how I can regress as a final product coming back from this rehab." Thor got up to 96 mph during a live session on Thursday and said he's only "a couple percentage points" from being ready. He feels much better another year removed from elbow surgery, and an increase in velocity could help him bounce back. The biggest difference in 2022 was his drop in strikeout rate, so if he can rediscover his pre-injury dominance, fantasy managers could score excellent value from Syndergaard.

Fri Feb 17 202318:07Noah Syndergaard Showing Uptick In Velocity
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Noah Syndergaard has already shown an uptick in velocity in bullpen sessions compared to the sessions he threw a year ago. "There's going to be a marked increase in velocity (this year), in our opinion," Roberts said. The 30-year-old worked on his mechanics in the offseason, and it looks like those changes are working so far. With a drop in velocity in 2022 with the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies, Thor had a 3.94 ERA (3.83 FIP), 1.25 WHIP and career-low 13.7 percent strikeout rate in 134 2/3 innings over 25 appearances (24 starts). Keep in mind that he missed all of 2020 and almost all of 2021 after having Tommy John surgery. Syndergaard could become a more attractive streamer in LA if he can boost his strikeout totals and keep his velocity up.

Wed Dec 14 202218:22Noah Syndergaard Chooses The Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a one-year deal worth $13 million with free-agent right-hander Noah Syndergaard on Wednesday. The 30-year-old is expected to join the team's starting rotation next year to help make up for the losses of Tyler Anderson and Andrew Heaney. The man they call Thor began the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Angels before being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies at the deadline in early August. In total, he went 10-10 with a 3.94 ERA (3.83 FIP) with a 1.25 WHIP and a career-low 16.8 percent strikeout rate in 134 2/3 innings over 25 appearances (24 starts). Last year was Syndergaard's first season back after having Tommy John surgery, and his velocity was noticeably down, making him mostly a league-average pitcher. He'll be hoping the Dodgers coaching staff can get him back on track in 2023.

Sat Dec 3 202211:15Orioles Meet With Noah Syndergaard
The Baltimore Orioles, who are searching for starting pitching in free agency, met via Zoom on Friday with free-agent right-hander Noah Syndergaard. Thor spent the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies. The 30-year-old was mostly a league-average starter, going a combined 10-10 with a 3.94 ERA (3.83 FIP), a 1.25 WHIP, 95 strikeouts and 31 walks in 134 2/3 innings over 25 appearances (24 starts). Syndergaard's velocity was down this year after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and he was moved to a bullpen role for the Phillies in their run to the World Series. There's not a ton of fantasy upside here, especially if he were to move to the tough American League East.

Wed Nov 2 202219:05Noah Syndergaard To Start Game 5 Regardless
Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Noah Syndergaard will start Game 5 of the World Series against the Houston Astros on Thursday, regardless of what happens in Game 4 on Wednesday. Syndergaard was originally scheduled to start Game 3 on Monday, but the Phillies went with left-hander Ranger Suarez instead when the game was postponed and pushed back to Tuesday. Thor will be facing off against right-hander Justin Verlander on Thursday, potentially with a chance to win the series for the Phils. Syndergaard hasn't pitched yet in the World Series and made just one start in the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves, allowing a run while striking out three in only three innings. Expect him to be on a very short leash on Thursday no matter what.

Wed Nov 2 202200:17Noah Syndergaard To Start World Series Game 5 Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard will toe the rubber in Thursday's World Series Game 5 against the Houston Astros, potentially to close out the series. The opposing pitcher has not yet been announced. Thor has only pitched 5 1/3 innings this postseason with one start but has posted a stellar 1.69 ERA in his three outings. He compiled a 3.94 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 16.8% strikeout rate in 24 starts with the Angels and Phillies. He will either be pitching to win the World Series or to give the Phillies a final home win before heading back to Houston.

Sun Oct 30 202209:49Noah Syndergaard To Start Game 3 Of World Series
Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Noah Syndergaard will start Game 3 of the World Series against the Houston Astros on Monday in Philadelphia, while left-hander Ranger Suarez will get the nod for Game 4 on Tuesday. Game 3 will be Syndergaard's second start of the postseason, with his first coming in Game 4 of the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves in which he allowed a run on one hit while walking none and striking out three in just three innings pitched. He's given up just one run on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 5 1/3 frames this postseason. The Phillies will hope Thor can give them some length, but there's a good chance we won't see him go too long in this one. Syndergaard made two starts against Houston this year, going 1-0 with three runs allowed on five hits while walking six and striking out four in 9 1/3 innings.

Thu Aug 11 202211:36Noah Syndergaard Has Quality Start In No-Decision
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard picked up a quality start in the 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, but he was hit with a no-decision for his efforts. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out four and walking two on the night. The 29-year-old allowed a lot of loud contact, so he might have been fortunate in this one, but his fantasy managers will take it either way. It was also a nice bounce-back performance after he allowed four earned runs on 11 hits in five innings of work in his first start for the team on Aug. 4 against the Washington Nationals. Overall in 2022, Thor is 6-8 with a 3.96 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP and a 70:24 K:BB in 91 innings over 17 starts for the Phillies and Los Angeles Angels.

Wed Aug 3 202214:30Noah Syndergaard Will Make Phillies Debut Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Noah Syndergaard will reportedly make his first start for the club on Thursday against the Washington Nationals, per a tweet from MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. Acquired from the Los Angeles Angels at the trade deadline, Syndergaard has made 18 starts this season. In those 18 starts, he's thrown 80 innings and has pitched to a 3.83 ERA and a 3.95 FIP while registering 64 strikeouts and 22 walks. Fantasy managers will certainly want to keep him in their lineups against a Nationals club that just traded away Juan Soto and Josh Bell.

Tue Aug 2 202218:21Noah Syndergaard Heads To Philly
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard has been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Angels will receive outfielders Mickey Moniak and Jadiel Sanchez in exchange for Syndergaard. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 3.83 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 64/22 K/BB ratio through 15 starts. This is a good move for the Phillies as they bolster their starting rotation. The Phillies now have Aaron Nola, Zack Wheeler, and Syndergaard on their staff as they attempt to make a playoff run. The Angels will get Moniak who is a former first round pick. He has struggled during his time in the majors, but maybe a change of scenery can help him. Fantasy managers might see Syndergaard's value take a slight hit with the move to Philly. It's a hitter-friendly park, but he has pitched well this season, so continue to trust him.

Tue Aug 2 202215:32Blue Jays Discussing Noah Syndergaard, Raisel Iglesias
The Toronto Blue Jays are talking to the Los Angeles Angels about starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard and closer Raisel Iglesias with the trade deadline approaching on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Phillies have also been linked to Syndergaard, but general manager Dave Dombrowski isn't often a buyer of rental players like Thor. Syndergaard has been solid in his first year with the Angels, posting a 3.83 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP with a 64:22 K:BB in 80 innings over his 15 starts, but he has struggled to get run support from the lowly Angels offense. That probably wouldn't be as much of a problem in Toronto. Iglesias has a 4.04 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 16 saves and 48 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings as the Halos closer, but he'd become a top-end setup arm in Toronto in front of closer Jordan Roman if he was dealt to the Jays.

Tue Aug 2 202211:39Noah Syndergaard Is The Phillies' Top Target
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard is still believed to be the Philadelphia Phillies' top target at the trade deadline. The Phillies scouted Seattle Mariners left-hander Marco Gonzales' start in New York last night, but there's no sign of apparent traction with the Mariners, according to sources. Syndergaard has been solid in his first season with the Angels, going 5-8 with a 3.83 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 64:22 K:BB in 80 innings over 15 starts, but he hasn't gotten much run support from the Angels. The 29-year-old right-hander would be a nice addition to the Phillies' staff, and his fantasy value would be on the rise with a better offense backing him.

Tue Aug 2 202200:37Several Teams Interested In Noah Syndergaard
MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported Monday that the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves are all interested in Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard. Thor has had a solid season, going 5-8 with a 3.83 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 18.9% strikeout rate over 15 starts and 80 innings pitched. He has been a useful fantasy option, and his fantasy value would certainly increase if he were traded to any of these teams, as the Angels have not provided much in terms of run support. The Braves did trade for starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi on Monday, but fantasy managers should keep an eye out for further news from these three teams as the trade deadline approaches on Tuesday.

Thu Jun 9 202218:51Noah Syndergaard Won't Pitch Sunday
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard was originally scheduled to make his next start on Sunday against his former team, the New York Mets, but that is no longer the case. The Angels have a to-be-determined starter listed for the series opener on Friday, followed by Michael Lorenzen on Saturday and Patrick Sandoval on Sunday. Thor rebounded from his worst start of the season against the New York Yankees on May 31 by giving up only one run while walking one and striking out three in six innings in a loss to the Boston Red Sox earlier this week. It would've been cool to see Syndergaard face off against the Mets, but it looks like he'll now pitch on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers next week.

Tue Jun 7 202200:35Noah Syndergaard Takes Tough Loss Monday
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard pitched well but took the loss in Monday's 1-0 game against the Red Sox. Thor pitched 6 innings, allowing a single run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts. He has compiled a respectable 4-4 record with a 3.69 ERA over his first nine starts and 46 1/3 IP. However, his K/9 rate is currently at a career-low 5.83 K/9. Hopefully, he can continue to pitch well and rack up some more strikeouts to help fantasy managers out. That may be difficult to do in his next start against the Mets.

Tue May 3 202210:59Noah Syndergaard To Start Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (illness) will make the start on Tuesday on the road against the Boston Red Sox. Syndergaard was scratched from his previous outing on Friday against the Chicago White Sox with a non-COVID-related illness. The 29-year-old threw a bullpen session on Sunday and will be making his first start since April 23. The layoff might make Thor a bit more risky in fantasy against Boston, but he has been very solid in his first three starts for the Angels this year, allowing only four earned runs while walking four and striking out 11 in 17 innings pitched. Shohei Ohtani, who tweaked his groin on Sunday, didn't play on Monday, but he could make his next start on the mound on either Wednesday or Thursday.
