Mon Nov 29 202120:49Daniel Hudson Signs Deal With Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers may have seen Max Scherzer and Corey Seager sign with other teams Monday, but they brought back an old friend in relief pitcher Daniel Hudson, who spent 2018 in Dodger blue. The contract is a one-year deal worth $7 million dollars. The 34-year-old Hudson has made 454 career appearances, recording a 3.86 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 27 saves and 719 strikeouts in 765 innings. He is not expected to act as closer in Los Angeles, though he could play a role as a key setup man if he can limit home runs, as has been a challenge throughout his career. He will only hold value in the deepest holds leagues.

Tue Aug 31 202114:39Daniel Hudson Pitching Poorly Since Joining Friars
San Diego Padres reliever Daniel Hudson continued his poor run as a Friar Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, suffering three earned runs in innings. Entering the seventh with a 6-1 lead, Hudson permitted a walk and double before striking out two batters. He was lifted after issuing another free pass but was charged with all three baserunners as reliever Emilio Pagan served a grand slam to the next batter. After a lights-out 2.20 ERA with the Washington Nationals, Hudson has posted an ugly 8.10 ERA in 10 appearances with San Diego. With the bullpen going off the rails, Hudson will continue receiving opportunities, but his chances in high-leverage should narrow.

Tue Aug 17 202110:56Daniel Hudson Takes Loss Against Rockies
San Diego Padres relief pitcher Daniel Hudson entered Monday night's game against the Colorado Rockies in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied, but he wasn't able to keep the Rockies off the board. He took the loss in a close 6-5 game, allowing a one-out walk-off home run to C.J. Cron. It's his 2nd loss in what has been a very solid season for the right-hander. With Drew Pomeranz out for the year, Hudson could be the primary set-up man to closer Mark Melancon. This makes him a value in holds leagues, and primes him for a bigger role should Melancon face any injury or performance issues.

Wed Aug 11 202108:18Daniel Hudson Expected To Be Available On Wednesday
San Diego Padres relief pitcher Daniel Hudson will be available out of the bullpen for Wednesday's game against the Miami Marlins, according to Padres manager Jayce Tingler. Hudson, who was acquired in a trade with the Washington Nationals prior to the trade deadline, has yet to make an appearance with his new team. He was placed on the COVID-19 injured list on the same day he was traded to the Padres. He has been going through protocols and he started throwing live batting practice sessions this week. With fellow reliever Drew Pomeranz (forearm) potentially heading to the injured list after exiting Tuesday's game, Hudson's timing couldn't be better. Hudson had a 2.20 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP over 31 appearances with the Nationals this year. He figures to be one of the Padres' top setup men going forward.

Mon Aug 9 202119:01Daniel Hudson Throws Live BP On Monday
San Diego Padres relief pitcher Daniel Hudson (illness) threw a live batting practice on Monday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reported. The 34-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Washington Nationals at the trade deadline but has been quarantining after testing positive for COVID-19. Hudson had a solid season for Washington, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.20 ERA through 32 2/3 innings pitched. However, his fantasy status with the Padres remains a question mark since he hasn't been able to establish himself in San Diego's bullpen yet.

Sat Aug 7 202121:46Daniel Hudson Making Progress
San Diego Padres relief pitcher Daniel Hudson (illness) participated in a bullpen session on Saturday. It marked the first time that the 34-year-old has thrown at Petco Park with his new team since being dealt by the Washington Nationals at the trade deadline. Hudson has been out because of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis and has been isolated to a hotel room across the street from the stadium since his arrival in California on Sunday. The right-hander owns a 2.20 ERA throughout 31 appearances this season, compiling 48 strikeouts and 15 holds. However, with the number of quality relief options in San Diego, Hudson's role hasn't been established, which ultimately negatively impacts his fantasy outlook moving ahead.

After a run-up that saw the likes of Nelson Cruz, Anthony Rizzo, Joey Gallo and Adam Frazier swapped, even more big names changed teams during a whirlwind Friday. From contenders boosting their roster to the also-ran Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals gutting theirs, this was a monster day for moves. “They all feel busy, but today was nonstop,” said Cleveland president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti, who made three trades. “We executed a number of trades but there were probably at least another dozen other ones that we contemplated seriously at different points in time and exchanged different ideas,” he said. Several playoff chasers pursued arms, with Toronto landing Berríos, Philadelphia getting Kyle Gibson and Ian Kennedy,... [More]

Fri Jul 30 202121:15Nationals trade Gomes, Harrison to A's amid big overhaul
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Washington Nationals kept wheeling and dealing, trading catcher Yan Gomes and utilityman Josh Harrison to the Oakland Athletics for three minor leaguers Friday. The A's are counting on the depth Gomes and Harrison will bring as they contend for a fourth straight playoff berth — and they might arrive to Southern California in time to join their new team to face the Angels in Anaheim on Saturday. “I think we feel really good about the roster right now,” general manager David Forst said. “This was an important one for us to add position player depth.” Washington has dismantled its roster in a matter of 24 crazy hours. Ace pitcher Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner were traded to the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers for four prospects Friday. Relief pitcher Daniel Hudson was sent to the San Diego Padres late Thursday in a busy day of moves for retooling Washington, which acquired right-hander Mason Thompson and shortstop Jordy Barley... Fri Jul 30 202120:25Championship shells: Cubs, Nats complete teardown trades
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo wore his 2019 World Series ring Friday as a reminder of the annual goal for his franchise. There won't be another one this season, with only a handful of players still left from that championship won less than two years ago. The Nationals this week traded eight players, and among those dealt to contenders were Max Scherzer, a two-time NL Cy Young winner in Washington, and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner. “It’s a difficult decision to make, but oftentimes a decision is made for you,” said Rizzo, whose team is now near the bottom of the NL East standings. “This year it was, and we recognized where we were and what work we had in front of us. We decided to begin a building process that will allow us to compete at the highest level.” The complete teardown of that title team from baseball's last full 162-game season came even swifter than that of the Chicago Cubs. In their own selloff before Friday's deadline, the Cubs traded away... [More]

Fri Jul 30 202118:55Cardinals get veteran lefty Jon Lester from rebuilding Nats
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Washington Nationals completed their final trade of a dizzying sell-off, sending veteran left-hander Jon Lester to the St. Louis Cardinals at Friday's deadline. Lester becomes the second experienced lefty to join St. Louis, which also acquired J.A Happ from the Minnesota Twins on Friday. Cardinals president John Mozeliak said the club accomplished its goal of stabilizing its pitching without giving away any top prospects. “That was something that was critical in our decision-making,” Mozeliak said. “Needless to say, obviously today we felt like we took a couple steps forward without having to sacrifice those futures.” The Nationals have entered a full rebuild less than two years after winning the World Series, also trading away Max Scherzer, Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, Brad Hand, Daniel Hudson, Yan Gomes and Josh Harrison in a 24-hour span. The 37-year-old Lester was 3-5 with a 5.02 ERA in 16 starts during his first season with Washington. He has won three World Series... [More]

OAKLAND, Calif. The New York Yankees acquired Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo after completing another trade to get All-Star slugger Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers. Fri Jul 30 202102:14AP source: Dodgers near megatrade for Nats' Scherzer, Turner
The World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers neared a monster trade for ace Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner of the Washington Nationals late Thursday night, a person close to the deal told The Associated Press. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the swap wasn't complete. The Nationals would get four young players for Washington's dynamic duo. Scherzer has been given permission to speak to the Dodgers to see if he will waive his right to veto any trade, a power he has as a 10-year veteran who has been with his team for at least five years. If the trade goes through, it would be a stunning haul for the Dodgers, who are three games behind NL West-leading San Francisco. Los Angeles owns the top spot in the wild-card race, 2 1/2 games ahead of San Diego. With the Major League Baseball trade deadline at 4 p.m. EDT Friday, there was speculation on Thursday that the Padres would be the winners in the Scherzer sweepstakes. Instead, the Dodgers got real... [More]
Fri Jul 30 202101:34Busy Nationals deal reliever Daniel Hudson to San Diego
SAN DIEGO (AP) — The new-look Nationals have traded right-handed reliever Daniel Hudson to the San Diego Padres in a busy day of moves for retooling Washington, acquiring right-hander Mason Thompson and shortstop Jordy Barley. San Diego announced the deal late Thursday night out West. Hudson is 4-1 with a 2.20 ERA over 31 outings and 32 2/3 innings, and the Padres will count on him down the stretch as they sit in third place in a tight NL West race behind the San Francisco Giants and the defending World Series champion Dodgers. Earlier in the day, Washington dealt All-Star slugger Kyle Schwarber to the Boston Red Sox for a minor league pitcher, and there was speculation Max Scherzer might have made his final start for the Nationals on Thursday and would be headed to the Dodgers along with Trea Turner. Already dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak on the club that postponed Wednesday's game with the Phillies, Washington also traded closer Brad Hand to the Toronto Blue Jays. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Thu Jul 29 202123:36Daniel Hudson Traded To Padres
Washington Nationals relief pitcher Daniel Hudson has been traded to the San Diego Padres, according to Robert Murray of Fan Sided. Hudson was placed on the COVID-19 injured list earlier Wednesday, so his first appearance with the Friars should come in August once cleared. The 34-year-old is in the midst of a stellar season, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.20 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a career-best 13.2 K/9. Similar to his role in Washington, Hudson should be an excellent late-inning option in San Diego and has solid value in hold formats.

Sat Jul 3 202118:07Nats' hot-hitting Schwarber out with hamstring strain
WASHINGTON (AP) — Kyle Schwarber limped into the Washington Nationals' dugout on Saturday with a heavy wrap poking out of the right side of his shorts. Schwarber was in shower shoes and trying to be upbeat when meeting with reporters after being placed on the 10-day injured list because of a right hamstring strain. There is no timetable for his return. “It’s not the best, but not the worst,” Schwarber said. “Just got to take it for what it is.” He was among the hottest hitters in the majors, bashing 16 home runs in June, seven of them leading off games. All were critical for the Nationals, who went 19-9 in the month to turn their season around. Schwarber said he does not need a procedure to repair damage to his hamstring. Instead, he will use compression treatment to reduce swelling. Rest and strengthening exercises will follow. He has not had a hamstring injury previously. Schwarber tore two ligaments in his left knee in 2016. But a furious recovery pace allowed him to rejoin the Chicago... [More]
