Thu Jun 26 201416:24John Salmons in a deal to the Grizzlies?
John Salmons could be traded to the Grizzlies in a deal for Tayshaun Prince.
The Raptors would also get the 22nd pick in the deal, which would be a big win for the Raptors despite taking on Prince's $7.7 million next year. Salmons has a roster bonus coming on July 1, so he'll be waived by the Raptors if they don't ship him out of town. He wouldn't have fantasy value with the Grizzlies at full strength.

Wed Jun 25 201419:47John Salmons likely to be waived
John Salmons will likely waived by the Raptors if he's still on the roster on June 30.
The Raptors would pay $1 million and save $6 million with Salmons on the roster during July. He wasn't much of a factor for the Raptors since they acquired him in the Rudy Gay deal, averaging 5.0 points, 2.0 boards and 1.7 assists in 60 games with the Raptors.

Thu Feb 27 201423:35John Salmons gets 34 minutes vs. Wizards
John Salmons played 34 minutes against the Wizards during Thursday's 134-129 triple-overtime loss with seven points, five boards, three assists and one 3-pointer.
Terrence Ross (ankle) went down with an ankle sprain in the first half and it allowed Salmons to start the second half. His numbers haven't really taken off with the Raptors and is shooting just 36.7 percent from the field on the season. He's only worth a speculative add in deep leagues.

Tue Feb 25 201418:19John Salmons (back) will play Tuesday
John Salmons will play on Tuesday despite a sore lower back.
He was limited during shootaround but feels well enough to suit up as Toronto goes for their seventh win in the past eight games. Salmons hasn't scored double-digit points since Feb. 3 and there's no reason to trust him outside of the deepest leagues.

Tue Feb 4 201402:49Salmons scores 13 points with four assists
John Salmons scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including three treys) with two rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Salmons will use some sort of Jedi mind trick to convince a coach to play him, which he has done yet again in Toronto, and then he'll put up a few lines like this before shrinking back into the shadows. He had 11 points and nine assists on Friday and he's worth a look in deeper leagues while he's hot.

Sat Feb 1 201401:43John Salmons dishes out nine dimes vs. Nugs
John Salmons handed out a season-high nine assists against the Nuggets on Friday with 11 points, two steals and three 3-pointers in 24 minutes.
It was one of his better lines of the season, which is a bit of a surprise since he couldn't get much going while DeMar DeRozan was out. He should be able to hit a triple per game with some other stats, but he's not worth owning in most leagues while the Raptors are at full strength.

Mon Jan 27 201418:21John Salmons or Novak expected to start
John Salmons or Steve Novak are expected to start in place of DeMar DeRozan (foot, ankle) on Monday.
Salmons would make the most sense, but coach Dwane Casey may want to keep his second unit together. Terrence Ross should see plenty of minutes tonight while Greivis Vasquez is also in the mix to gain value.

Sat Jan 25 201422:30John Salmons' minutes don't increase much
John Salmons played a little down the stretch of Saturday's 126-118 loss to the Clippers, scoring two points with one assist and one steal in 19 minutes.
He was playing for much of the fourth quarter, but checked out with a little over two minutes left in the period. Salmons' shot wasn't falling and he might have a chance to get more minutes with DeRozan out. He's only worth a speculative add in deeper formats.

Mon Jan 20 201419:15John Salmons quiet in return from injury
John Salmons was quiet in his return from back spasms on Monday with no points, one board, two assists and one block in 17 minutes.
He was in the lineup down the stretch of this game, but he certainly did not look like he was all the way back. It was a mild surprise to see him back in the lineup and hopefully he'll be closer to 100 percent on Wednesday. Salmons is firmly in the rotation and a big part of the second unit, but only has value in deeper leagues.

Mon Jan 20 201413:18John Salmons (back) active on MLK Day
John Salmons (back) is in the Raptors' active lineup on Monday.
He was a game-time decision and looked to still be in pain during pre-game warmups, but the veteran swingman will suit up as the Raptors try to get back on track following a disappointing home loss to the Lakers.

Sun Jan 19 201412:29John Salmons (back spasms) out on Sunday
John Salmons will not suit up for Sunday's game vs. the Lakers.
This should mean more minutes for Terrence Ross, and Landry Fields could pick up some of the backup minutes.

Sat Jan 18 201413:22John Salmons (back) game-time on Sunday
John Salmons (back spasms) went through Saturday's practice and will be a game-time decision vs. the Lakers on Sunday.
To see him practicing the day after he injured his back is very encouraging, but we won't get the final word until at least Sunday's shootaround. Landry Fields may pick up a few extra minutes if Salmons isn't able to go.

Sat Jan 18 201410:33John Salmons leaves Friday w/ back spasms
John Salmons didn't return to Friday's game after experiencing back spasms in the first half.
He finished with just two points in 10 minutes of action and it's unclear whether he'll recover in time to face the Lakers on Sunday. His deep-league owners should note that Sunday's game tips off at 1pm ET.

Fri Jan 17 201422:40Salmons (back) plays 10 minutes on Friday
John Salmons (back) played 10 minutes on Friday, scoring two points with three assists on 1-of-2 shooting.
Salmons had been overachieving for a little bit there but this should keep eager owners from overreaching.

Fri Jan 17 201420:20John Salmons out for game w/ back spasms
John Salmons is dealing with back spasms on Friday and will not return.
The Raptors have been getting some solid production out of Salmons with 12 points per game over his previous three games. With Salmons out, the Raptors will use Terrence Ross and Landry Fields a little more in their rotation.

Wed Jan 15 201423:47John Salmons quietly becoming relevant
John Salmons hit 5-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for 13 points, one rebound, two assists, two steals and a block off the bench on Wednesday.
He played 27 minutes, while starter Terrence Ross played 25 and had eight points, four rebounds and two 3-pointers. Salmons has hit double figures in scoring in three straight games and is averaging 12 points, 1.75 steals and 2.5 3-pointers over that stretch. Ross is still the guy to own for now, but Salmons deserves a watchful eye from fantasy owners in case he continues to stay hot off the bench.

Mon Jan 13 201423:07Salmons scores 10 points with balanced line
John Salmons scored 10 points off the bench in Friday's blowout win, hitting 3-of-5 shots (including two threes) with four rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes.
Salmons has picked up the pace over the last week and if you were able to randomly predict his uptick he'd be useful in a 12-team standard league, but when you expand his sample to a two-week period he's been a 16-team option in standard leagues at best. Plan accordingly.

Sat Jan 11 201422:59John Salmons scores 13 points off bench
John Salmons made all five of his shots from the field for 13 points with two boards, one assist, three steals and three 3-pointers in 24 minutes.
His minutes have been hovering around 25 per game with his new team and tonight was his best offensive output with perfect shooting and his second-lowest points total. Salmons' role with the team is what it is, so he's not really a strong pickup in leagues in which he's available.

Sat Dec 28 201300:01Salmons hits three treys off the bench
John Salmons hit three triples off the bench on Friday, scoring 11 points altogether on 4-of-10 shooting with five rebounds, three assists and two steals in 30 minutes.
Salmons is worth a look in 12-team, 9-cat leagues where his 0.7 turnovers per game over the past two weeks has made him a top-125 play, but beyond that there isn't much upside for him right now. Just keep one eye on him to see if he can improve his 37.8 percent shooting over that same span.

Sun Dec 22 201322:01John Salmons scores 14 points in 31 minutes
Raptors coach Dwane Casey stuck with John Salmons down the stretch in Sunday's tough win in OKC, and Salmons finished with 14 points, three boards, two assists and two steals.
He knocked down one 3-pointer in 31 minutes and would be worth owning if he routinely saw this much playing time, but that's far from guaranteed. Before you think about picking him up, note that he's shooting just 35.2 percent from the field in 22 games with the Kings and Raptors this season.
