Fri Feb 20 201518:50Isaiah Canaan: Unavailable Friday
Canaan will not play in Friday's game, the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey reports.
This is not a surprise, as Canaan was traded Thursday, but he should be expected to start at point guard going forward beginning with Sunday's game in Orlando. Canaan is not likely to provide much relative to his position in terms of assists or steals, but he could be a volume scorer and three-point shooter from the point guard spot.
Fri Feb 20 201510:59Isaiah Canaan: Expected To Start At Point Guard
Canaan will likely start at point guard for the foreseeable future, Max Rappaport of NBA.com reports.
76ers general manager Sam Hinkie said as much during a Friday press conference, indicating that Canaan will handle the starting job over Tim Frazier, who was recently signed to a second 10-day contract. Hinkie also mentioned that the 76ers hoped to draft Canaan at 35th overall back in 2013, only to watch the point guard get taken 34th by the Rockets. Canaan had trouble getting on the court with a talented Houston team, but it sounds like he may get all the minutes he can handle in Philadelphia. Given the team's fast pace of play and lack of alternatives, Canaan becomes an interesting asset in nearly any league. For the more immediate future, it's unclear whether he will be ready to play in Friday's game against the Pacers.
Thu Feb 19 201515:28Isaiah Canaan: Traded to Sixers
Canaan was traded to the Sixers on Thursday, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Canaan could be stepping right into the starting point guard job for the Sixers with Michael Carter-Williams getting traded to the Bucks as part of a separate deal. Until we hear that the Sixers have added a better point guard, Canaan should be added as a flier in all 12-team leagues and larger.
Mon Jan 26 201512:49Canaan recalled from D-League on Monday
Canaan was recalled from the D-League on Monday.
He had been averaging 21 points and 8.5 assists per game for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of D-League, but will have a much less substantial role on the Rockets. Look for Canaan to serve as backcourt depth in the short term before likely getting sent back to the D-League at some point in the near future.

Canaan was assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the D-League on Sunday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Canaan saw significant time on the court during the start of the season, but the Rockets have returned to health since then and now Canaan has seen just nine total minutes over the past four games. His stint in the D-League will allow him to stay sharp in case another wave of injuries falls upon Houston, but he's not expected to see extended minutes on the court otherwise.

Canaan failed to score (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and didn't contribute elsewhere in seven minutes of action against the Nuggets on Wednesday.
In games where Canaan has played 30 or more minutes, he has produced healthy fantasy lines. Without the minutes, Canaan has little value in standard fantasy leagues.
Wed Dec 17 201421:37Canaan (ankle) will play Wednesday night against Nuggets
Canaan (ankle) will play Wednesday night against the Nuggets, Mark Berman of FOX 26 reports.
Canaan expected to play all along, but this appears to confirm that notion. He's missed seven consecutive contests with a badly sprained ankle, but seems ready to take on reserve backcourt minutes for Houston. Provided he avoids any setbacks during warmups, he'll likely be the primary backup to Patrick Beverley.
Mon Dec 15 201415:08Canaan (ankle) expected to return Wednesday against Nuggets
Canaan (ankle) is expected to return Wednesday against the Nuggets, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The backup point guard has missed seven games with a severely sprained left ankle, which has enabled rookie Nick Johnson to see increased minutes off the bench. Canaan averaged 9.6 points and 1.7 assists in 22.0 minutes per game prior to the injury. From a fantasy perspective, Canaan's greatest value comes as a long-range shooter, as he's shooting 43.1 percent from beyond the arc and knocking down 2.0 threes per game.
Fri Dec 12 201414:34Canaan (ankle) will not play in Saturday's game against Nuggets
Canaan (ankle) will not play in Saturday's game against the Nuggets, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Canaan originally expected to play Saturday, although his ankle hasn't responded the way he thought it would, resulting in his impending absence Saturday. His next opportunity to take the court will come against the Nuggets on Wednesday.
Mon Dec 8 201415:00Canaan (ankle) ruled out for Wednesday's game against Warriors
Canaan (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Warriors, Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston reports.
Canaan has missed the Rockets' last four games as he continues to nurse an ankle issue. The fact that he's been ruled out two days before Wednesday's game is not overly encouraging, and his status would appear doubtful for Thursday's matchup with Sacramento. Houston got Patrick Beverley back Saturday, but Jason Terry will likely continue to see major minutes in the absence of Cannan.
Fri Dec 5 201413:09Canaan (ankle) will not play Friday against Timberwolves
Canaan (ankle) will not play Friday against the Timberwolves, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Canaan will miss his third-straight game Friday and will be sidelined with fellow point guard Patrick Beverley (hamstring). With Houston's first two options at point guard sitting against the Timberwolves, Jason Terry will likely see considerable minutes Friday.
Mon Dec 1 201419:32Canaan (ankle) has ditched walking boot and crutches
Canaan (ankle) has ditched his walking boot and crutches, but he won't play Wednesday against the Grizzlies, the Houston Chronicle reports. "It's feeling a lot better," he said. "...It's been doing pretty good. I'm sure it will still be a few more days. I just want to get it to 100 percent to when I'm out there."
Canaan has seemingly improved markedly since suffering a sprained ankle during Friday's loss to the Clippers, but caution will also be exercised to ensure his ankle is healthy when he next takes the court. While his next opportunity to suit up will likely occur Friday at Minnesota, Jason Terry will cover point guard with Patrick Beverley (hamstring) out of commission.

Canaan (ankle) did not practice Monday and is listed as out for Wednesday's matchup with the Grizzlies, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Canaan injured his ankle Friday night and was held out of Saturday's win over the Bucks. Considering he was spotted in a walking boot and using crutches over the weekend, it's entirely possible that he could end up missing a handful of games. Canaan, himself, said Monday that the ankle is getting better, but he expects to be out a few more days. In his absence, Jason Terry will likely get another start Wednesday, as Patrick Beverley (hamstring) is also out.
Fri Nov 28 201422:51Isaiah Canaan: (Ankle) Will Not Play Saturday
Canaan will not play in Saturday's game against the Bucks after injuring his ankle Friday night, the Houston Chronicle reports.
The extent of Canaan's injury remains uncertain, but he was spotted using crutches and wearing a walking boot following Friday's game, which indicates he isn't dealing with a run-of-the-mill ankle sprain. Fellow point guard Patrick Beverley will not play Saturday either, so look for either Jason Terry or Nick Johnson to start at point guard against Milwaukee.

Canaan sprained his left ankle during the first half of Friday's game and did not return, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Canaan scored 13 points before exiting the contest. The extent of his injury is uncertain, so it remains to be seen if it will prevent him from playing in Houston's next game Saturday against the Bucks.

Canaan scored 24 points (9-16 FG, 6-10 3P) with six rebounds, four assists and four steals in 32 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Kings.
With Patrick Beverley lacking a timetable for his return from a hamstring injury, Canaan could solidify his spot in the Rockets' starting lineup if he puts up a few more performances like this one. If you need some help in the back court, Canaan's worth at least a short term pickup.

Canaan will start at the point for Patrick Beverley (hamstring) on Monday against the Knicks.
In six previous nods this season, Canaan averaged 11.5 points (on 42 percent shooting), 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.3 three-pointers, and 1.0 steals in 30 minutes. With plenty of run likely coming his way once again Monday, he's a nice streaming option for fantasy backcourts.

Canaan got the start again Thursday against the Rockets with Patrick Beverly injured, logging 26 minutes and scoring 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-0 FT).
Beverly continues to deal with a hamstring injury. If he continues to miss games, Canaan will be the beneficiary. In his two previous starts before Thursday, Canaan averaged 11 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.
Mon Nov 3 201418:39Canaan starting point guard Monday in Philadelphia
Canaan is the starting point guard Monday in Philadelphia, the Houston Chronicle reports.
In a previous nod Saturday for Patrick Beverley (hamstring), Canaan contributed nine points (3-11 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 0-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 35 minutes. With significant run expected once again, Canaan is a decent streaming option on a light slate Monday.
Sun Nov 2 201401:49Canaan got nod as Rockets' starting point guard with Patrick Bev...
Canaan got the nod as the Rockets' starting point guard with Patrick Beverley (hamstring) ruled out, but struggled to have much of an impact scoring just nine points (3-11 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 0-2 FT) in 35 minutes Saturday.
Beverley's hamstring isn't expected to keep him out long, so Canaan's run as a starting point guard looks to be short lived. If Beverley does miss another game, Canaan is worth a look as a streaming option, but is not worth dropping anyone of value for and James Harden will assume as lot of the point guard duties in Beverley's absence.
