Wed Feb 5 201411:09Vitor Faverani injures knee in D-League
Vitor Faverani injured his knee while playing in the D-League on Tuesday, and he'll have the knee tested on Thursday.
He has been recalled by the Celtics and an MRI is likely coming, as Faverani said it's difficult just to move his knee. He hasn't been part of Boston's rotation and his availability won't be a factor in fantasy leagues.

Sun Feb 2 201410:37Celtics Recall Vitor Faverani from Red Claws
The Celtics recalled Vitor Faverani from the Maine Red Claws on Sunday.
With Kris Humphries, Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk all ahead of him in the rotation, Faverani has no fantasy appeal and can safely be left on the wire.

Fri Jan 31 201415:09Vitor Faverani sent to the Red Claws
The Celtics assigned Vitor Faverani to the Maine Red Claws on Fridat
He's only really been called upon in garbage time and when his teammates are in foul trouble. Faverani started out hot to start the season and immediately fizzled out. He has no fantasy value.

Sun Jan 26 201411:39Celtics recall Vitor Faverani from D-League
The Celtics recalled rookie C Vitor Faverani from the D-League on Sunday.
Faverani's trip to Maine was designed to let him play in one game -- he had 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one block and six personal fouls in 26 minutes on Saturday, helping the Red Claws defeat the visiting Mad Ants. Faverani has no fantasy appeal with Kris Humphries, Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk ahead of him in the rotation.

Sat Jan 25 201415:56Celtics assign rookie Vitor Faverani to NBADL
The Celtics assigned rookie C Vitor Faverani to the D-League on Saturday.
He'll play one game in Maine for the Red Claws before rejoining the Celtics on Sunday. It makes sense for Faverani to get extra playing time since he's fallen out of the frontcourt rotation behind Kris Humphries, Jared Sullinger and fellow rookie Kelly Olynyk.

Sat Nov 23 201322:42Vitor Faverani logs just 14 minutes off bench
Vitor Faverani only played 14 minutes off the Celtics' bench in Saturday's defeat, scoring 11 points with five rebounds and one block to his credit.
He made 4-of-6 shots, including one 3-pointer, but this isn't the line owners were hoping for with Kelly Olynyk (ankle) out of the lineup. Olynyk played only 14 minutes vs. Dwight Howard and the Rockets last week, when frontcourt size would presumably be at a premium, and Brad Stevens obviously isn't sold on the rookie's ability to help the Celtics in heavy minutes this year.

Fri Nov 22 201321:44Vitor Faverani doesn't score in 11 minutes
Vitor Faverani failed to score in just 11 minutes against the Pacers, adding two boards and two fouls.
Against a big man like Roy Hibbert, it would have made sense to go with a a defensive guy like Faverani, but Jared Sullinger guarded Hibbert for the most part. What's more, he didn't really see a bump in minutes with Kelly Olynyk not playing in the second half. The rookie has a lot of work to do to get back in the good graces of coach Brad Stevens.

Wed Nov 20 201323:32Vitor Faverani plays two minutes vs. Spurs
Vitor Faverani played two minutes against the Spurs on Wednesday and failed to register any stats except two fouls.
He's coming off a 14-minute game on Tuesday, so this makes it two horrendous games in a row. Faverani had five fouls in that game, so that gives him 21.0 fouls per 48 minutes over that span. The rookie does have some nice upside, but the inconsistency is becoming more trouble than it's worth.

Tue Nov 19 201323:12Vitor Faverani goes for 5 & 5 in ugly loss
Vitor Faverani was back in the starting lineup on Tuesday, but finished with just five points, five rebounds, zero blocks and five fouls in 14 minutes of an ugly loss to the Rockets.
Faverani is not a lock to continue to start for the Celtics, as Brad Stevens can't seem to make up his mind on his starting center. Kelly Olynyk came off the bench for nine points, eight rebounds, three steals and a block, and it's anyone's guess which one will start on Wednesday at San Antonio. And against the Spurs, both players will be shaky fantasy plays against one of the league's supreme defensive teams.

Tue Nov 19 201312:06Faverani to start vs. Rockets Tuesday night
Vitor Faverani will get the start against the Rockets on Tuesday night.
After seeing his playing time cut drastically a week ago, Faverani will see his second start in a row after posting a respectable line of nine points and 14 rebounds in 27 minutes on Saturday. This latest move is likely a desire by Brad Stevens to go with a bigger lineup against Dwight Howard, but Faverani has produced when given minutes and can be a valuable source of blocks for fantasy owners if he continues to start.

Sun Nov 17 201300:03Vitor Faverani comes back from the dead
Vitor Faverani played 27 minutes against the Wolves on Saturday, scoring nine points with 14 rebounds, one assist, three steals, two 3-pointers and four blocks.
Just when Faverani was left for dead, coach Brad Stevens gave him significant minutes in the loss. Most of his production did come before garbage time, so this isn't a line that should be completely dismissed. He did play just 13.5 minutes per game in his previous four games, so we'd like to see it again. Clearly, this is the messiest frontcourt rotation in the NBA, but the Faverani has a high ceiling in fantasy leagues.

Sat Nov 16 201318:43Vitor Faverani starts over Olynyk vs. Wolves
Vitor Faverani will replace Kelly Olynyk as the Celtics' starting center vs. the Wolves on Saturday.
This has all the hallmarks of a matchup-based move by coach Brad Stevens, as Faverani is better equipped to battle Nikola Pekovic down low.

Sat Nov 9 201323:02Vitor Faverani: It was fun while it lasted
Vitor Faverani was benched for Kelly Olynyk on Saturday and played just three minutes, finishing with two points and nothing else.
It's official - Faverani can be cut for the free agent of your choice. He might emerge as a hot pickup at some point this season, but the early-season run is officially history.

Fri Nov 8 201323:03Vitor Faverani plays 17 minutes vs. Magic
Vitor Faverani played 17 minutes against the Magic on Friday and had three points, five boards, one assist and no blocks on 1-of-4 shooting.
In the first few games, he was setting a lot of high on-ball screens, but he was setting up more on away from the ball on offense. His defense was a little better, but at least he started the second half unlike Wednesday. This is one messy situation in Boston's frontcourt, so buying stock in any big man will take some guts and patience.

Fri Nov 8 201318:43Celtics are sticking with same starters
The Celtics will stick with the same starting lineup for Friday's game against the Magic.
During the team's online pre-game broadcast, coach Brad Stevens said it will be the same lineup. He didn't really elaborate, so it's tough to read between the lines. Vitor Faverani was benched on Wednesday after Enes Kanter lit him up and Kelly Olynyk took most of the minutes. Stevens said he "went with his gut" in keeping Faverani's minutes down, and he was right with the team pulling out his first win. We'll be watching this situation closely tonight.

Tue Nov 5 201300:23Faverani posts low-end line against the Grizz
Vitor Faverani scored five points on 2-of-4 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, one steal and one block in 28 minutes on Monday against the Grizzlies.
This isn't half bad considering the opposition and it's the type of fantasy floor owners should hope for out of a low-end player. Faverani has hurdles to clear in terms of his health and playing time but owners should probably stay the course after tonight's game.

Sun Nov 3 201321:16Vitor Faverani held to 19 minutes vs. Detroit
Brad Stevens limited Vitor Faverani to 19 minutes in Sunday's loss to Detroit, even though Faverani only had two personal fouls.
Boston trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter, yet Faverani never stepped on the court to combat the Pistons' big men. It's a curious move and we'll be watching for explanations from Stevens, but in the meantime fantasy owners should shrug it off. Faverani is averaging 11.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocks through his first three NBA games, and has been one of the nicest early-season surprises.

Sat Nov 2 201301:13Vitor Faverani blocks six, grabs 18 rebounds
Vitor Faverani blocked six shots against the Bucks on Friday to go with 12 points, 18 rebounds, one assist and one steal in 37 minutes.
After a three-block opener, he completely exploded with a monster stat line with a huge minute allotment. Faverani is lapping the field as the best big man to own for the Celtics and is a must-own player in all leagues until further notice.

Wed Oct 30 201322:01Vitor Faverani solid in Celtics debut
Vitor Faverani started at center and had 13 points, three rebounds and three blocks on 4-of-9 shooting in 27 minutes of Wednesday's loss.
He's not guaranteed to keep the starting job over Kelly Olynyk (4 points, 0 boards in 16 minutes), but Faverani looks like a guy who should be owned most fantasy leagues right now.

Wed Oct 30 201318:18Vitor Faverani will start at center vs. TOR
Vitor Faverani (back) will start at center for the Celtics on Wednesday.
He created a lot of buzz for his six-block game on national TV last week, but his back issues have calmed the expectations a bit. Faverani's offense is behind his defense, which isn't unusual for a rookie, but he should get better in the early going. He's already been scooped up in most deeper leagues and a nice night tonight could make him a must-add guy. Kelly Olynyk could get a nice chunk of minutes off the bench.
