Mon Jul 4 202221:52Mavericks Eyeing Collin Sexton
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton is receiving interest from the Mavericks, according to Chris Fedor of The Plain Dealer. Dallas lost Jalen Brunson to the Knicks, who agreed to a four-year, $104 million deal this offseason, so the Mavs are left with a significant void to fill. However, it doesn't appear the Cavs are interested in dealing Sexton, at least for anything Dallas would be willing to offer. The 23-year-old, who remains a restricted free agent, was recently cleared to resume basketball activities after missing nearly all of last season with a knee injury. Nonetheless, as long as Sexton stays healthy, he has an excellent chance to continue to be an adequate fantasy producer moving ahead, no matter the franchise issuing his checks.

Thu Jun 30 202214:50Cavs Expected To Match Offers For Collin Sexton
The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to match outside offers for Collin Sexton that are "within reason," according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated. The team extended a qualifying offer to Sexton, so he is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason. He's been valued at $10-12 million per season by outside executives, but it will be interesting to see if a team goes higher than that and if the Cavs are willing to match it. Sexton, who missed the majority of the 2021-22 season with a torn left meniscus in his knee, has reportedly stated that he wants to remain a Cavalier.

Tue Jun 28 202219:09Collin Sexton Gets Qualifying Offer From Cavaliers
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton is expected to be back with the organization next season. The team has extended a qualifying offer to Sexton, which makes him a restricted free agent this summer. Sexton is likely to draw interest from plenty of other organizations, but the Cavs will have the final say. It's possible that Sexton resigns with the Cavs on a new contract. The expectation is that Sexton will be back with the Cavaliers next season. Although, his fantasy value will be strong on basically any organization.

Mon Jun 20 202222:41Collin Sexton Cleared For Basketball Activities
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton (knee) has been cleared for full basketball activities. It's undoubtedly good news for the club, and it comes after the 23-year-old missed most of last season because of a torn meniscus in his left knee. Sexton has been a proven fantasy asset since being drafted by the Cavs four years ago, averaging 20.0 points, 3.3 boards, and 2.1 assists while shooting 37.8% from deep. It's possible he could see a decrease in production after the emergence of Darius Garland in 2021-22. Still, Sexton should continue to get his numbers, especially since Garland has had issues staying healthy.

Sun Jun 5 202201:05Cavs Confident Collin Sexton Will Be Back
Guard Collin Sexton (knee) is expected to receive plenty of interest from multiple clubs throughout the NBA over the summer. However, because he's a restricted free agent, the Cavaliers will have the luxury of matching any offers. The 23-year-old played only 11 games in 2021 due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. Yet, after undergoing surgery, he's ahead of schedule, making it likely he'll be ready for the start of the regular season in October. Throughout Sexton's four years in Cleveland, he averaged 20.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 45.8% from the field and 37.8% from deep. He doesn't offer much outside of scoring, and his health has been an issue over the years. Still, no matter where Sexton is playing in 2022-23, he is expected to remain a quality member of any fantasy roster, even more so in non-category formats.

Sun Apr 17 202211:39Collin Sexton To Have Testing On Left Knee Next Week
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton (knee) will undergo further testing to determine where he's at in his recovery process. Sexton tore his left meniscus back in November and missed the remainder of the season. The 23-year-old reports he is feeling better each day, although he remains without a timetable for a return. Sexton, who was selected with the eighth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, is likely to be a restricted free agent. However, he's averaged 20 points per game throughout his four seasons in the league, so wherever he ends up, he is expected to remain an impactful option on the offensive end for years to come.

Mon Nov 8 202114:32Collin Sexton Likely To Miss Significant Time
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton (knee) is in danger of missing significant playing time after suffering an injury during Sunday's game. An MRI revealed the young guard has a torn meniscus in his left knee. He will undergo further evaluation in order to determine how much time he'll miss. Ricky Rubio started the second half of Sunday's game and dropped a career-high 37 points. That being said, Rubio is a must-have fantasy player right now with Sexton looking at missing significant time.

Thu Oct 28 202108:22Collin Sexton Scores Game-High 26 Points On Wednesday
Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Collin Sexton had a strong game in the team's 92-79 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. He shot 12-for-20 from the field and 2-for-3 from the line on the way to a game-high 26 points. He also added seven rebounds, three steals and one assist while committing five turnovers. Sexton has had an up-and-down start to the year. He scored a season-high 33 points last Friday, then went on to score a total of just 26 points over his next two games. The Cavaliers have now won three straight games. They'll look to keep their winning streak intact when they face the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

Sat Oct 23 202106:31Collin Sexton Leads All Scorers With 33 Points
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton came up with a game-high 33 points in Friday's home game against Charlotte but couldn't save his side from a 123-112 defeat. The 22-year-old shot 13-for-21 from the field with a 2-for-7 record from deep and nailed all five of his free throws. He notched four rebounds and two steals while registering one assist with three turnovers in a team-high 35 minutes. The Cavs are allowing 127.5 points a night so far and they need a lot of scoring to make up for the defensive deficiencies. Sexton is their best scorer and this should be one of the many 30-point performances he puts together this season.

Tue Oct 19 202119:31Collin Sexton Not Listed On Injury Report
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton (shoulder) should be good to go Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Sexton tweaked his shoulder at some point during preseason, but it appears to be a minor injury and does not carry an injury designation heading into the opener. Sexton is coming off a career-year, but the trade rumors are swirling around him and will likely be a topic of discussion near the trade deadline. Regardless, Sexton should produce solid scoring and peripherals in most situations.

Sun Oct 10 202115:29Collin Sexton Unavailable For Sunday's Game
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's preseason matchup against the Chicago Bulls. Both Sexton and Darius Garland (illness) will be on the sideline for this game. The Sexton trade rumors have been swirling all offseason long. This might be the organization being cautious while they continue to look for a trade partner. Although, this situation is likely going to linger into the regular season. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable that Sexton will play and should be a reliable option.

Tue Oct 5 202119:00Darius Garland, Collin Sexton Starting On Tuesday
Cleveland Cavaliers guards Collin Sexton and Darius Garland will start during the preseason matchup against the Chicago Bulls. In addition, Isaac Okoro, Jarrett Allen, and the debuting Evan Mobley, who was selected third overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, will join them. Still, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff plans to give minutes to all available players on Tuesday night, so fantasy managers partaking in DFS contests may want to look elsewhere to round out their lineups.

Fri Jul 30 202117:43Cavaliers finally get acquainted with No. 3 pick Evan Mobley
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) — Evan Mobley didn’t visit Cleveland or hold a private workout for the Cavaliers before the NBA draft. The Southern California center did, however, expect to be selected by them with the No. 3 overall pick. “I’ve done a little homework on Cleveland the last couple of weeks,” Mobley said. “They’ve got a lot of really young, athletic guys — just like I am — so I thought I would fit right in. “Now that I’m here, I’m excited to meet them all. We’re going to have a great dynamic duo with all my teammates.” Mobley made his initial trip to Northeast Ohio on Friday, a day after being chosen by the Cavaliers. Detroit picked Cade Cunningham first and Houston tabbed Jalen Green second, allowing Cleveland coach J.B. Bickerstaff to grab his top-rated player. An athletic 7-footer with a 7-4 wingspan, Mobley earned Pac-12 Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in his lone college season. He averaged 16.4 points and 8.7 rebounds while shooting... [More]
Thu Jul 29 202119:02AP source: Cavs acquire guard Ricky Rubio from T-Wolves
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cavaliers have agreed to acquire veteran guard Ricky Rubio in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Thursday night before the NBA draft. Cleveland is sending small forward Taurean Prince, cash and a second-round pick in 2022 to the Timberwolves for the 30-year-old Rubio, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the NBA has to approve the trade. The deal is happening as Rubio is in Tokyo playing on Spain's Olympic team. The Cavs struggled without a veteran backup point guard last season as Matthew Dellavedova was sidelined with a concussion. Rubio is entering the final season of the $51 million, three-year contract he signed with Phoenix. He was acquired by the Timberwolves on draft day 2020 to give the team some more backcourt experience and depth, but his return to Minnesota to rejoin the team that drafted him as a teenager from Spain in 2009 at No. 5 overall was a bit of... Fri Jul 9 202113:27Former Cavs G Dellavedova signs 3-year deal with Melbourne
CLEVELAND (AP) — Matthew Dellavedova is taking his game back Down Under. The former Cavaliers point guard signed a three-year contract Friday with Melbourne United, the defending champion in Australia’s National Basketball League. Dellavedova, affectionately known as “Delly” to his teammates and fans, had two stints over six seasons with Cleveland, which signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2013. Dellavedova helped the Cavs win the 2016 NBA title, ending a 52-year championship drought for Cleveland’s pro teams. The 30-year-old signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Bucks, but returned to the Cavs in a trade midway through the 2018-19 season. Dellavedova's last two seasons were marked by injuries, including a concussion that limited him to just 13 games this past season. Although he was a mentor to young guards Collin Sexton and Darius Garland, the Cavs were not planning to re-sign him as a free agent. Dellavedova will play in his third Olympics for Australia this summer in Tokyo. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Tue Jun 22 202122:07Pistons win lottery, receive No. 1 pick in 2021 NBA draft
Newly selected Basketball Hall of Famer Ben Wallace tapped his fist on the table a few times, then clapped his hands and pointed one finger skyward. After one of the worst seasons in franchise history, Detroit has something to celebrate. The Pistons won the NBA draft lottery on Tuesday night, meaning they’ll have the No. 1 pick on July 29 — and, presumably, the chance to take Oklahoma State guard Cade Cunningham. “We get to add another young player to the restoration process,” Pistons general manager Troy Weaver said. “We’re excited to be in this position. But it means that we’ve got a lot of work to do. We’re going to be diligent about it, but it always helps to be able to add a No. 1 pick from a talented group of players to choose from.” Houston — which basically had 50-50 odds of picking in the top four — got the No. 2 pick. Cleveland will pick No. 3 and Toronto will pick No. 4, after both of those franchises got some lottery luck to move up in the order. But the big winners were the... [More]
Fri May 28 202116:52Cavs still view Kevin Love as valuable piece in slow rebuild
CLEVELAND (AP) — As the Cavaliers' slow, stuttering rebuild continues around a “core four” of young players, the team still views Kevin Love as an important piece. One worth keeping around. At least, for now. On Friday, general manager Koby Altman spoke to the media for the first time since the Cavs completed a injury-marred season by going 22-50 and failing to compete for a playoff spot during a year in which Love went from being a major contributor to a distraction. The five-time All-Star played in just 25 games because of a severe calf injury. All that will be remembered from his forgettable season is an on-court lapse against Toronto when he lost his composure and smacked the ball away in frustration only to have the Raptors grab it and score. It's a regrettable moment that has stained an otherwise clean resume. Love's mini-tantrum was also a microcosm of a frustrating season for the Cavs, who used 30 different starting lineups and lost 300 total games to injuries. There was also plenty... [More]
Mon May 17 202115:06Cavs end difficult season outside playoffs, decisions loom
CLEVELAND (AP) — The night before their season finale, the Cavaliers ditched their masks and got together for a team dinner on a rooftop in Brooklyn — a symbolic high point. The view was awesome, the ambience exquisite. Finally, something a little more familiar. Barely anything else was normal over the previous five months. “Not making any excuses,” said Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff, “it was one of the most difficult seasons that I’ve been a part of — for numerous reasons.” There were the mandated COVID-19 protocols. There were numerous injuries (star forward Kevin Love played just 25 games), drama (Kevin Porter Jr. was traded to Houston after a locker-room tantrum) and head-scratching decisions (center Andre Drummond went from starter to outcast). And, of course, there was losing, so much losing. One of the league's youngest teams, the Cavs dropped 16 of their last 18 games to finish 22-50 — tied for the fourth-worst record in the NBA to guarantee Cleveland another spot in the draft lottery... Mon Apr 26 202114:59Cavs' Nance breaks thumb, 2 others concussed against Wizards
CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. broke his right thumb in Sunday's loss at Washington and likely will miss the remainder of the season. Nance's injury was one of several suffered by Cleveland players and will leave the Cavaliers short-handed for Monday night’s game against Toronto in Florida. Guard Matthew Dellavedova is out with a neck strain and after receiving four stitches when he was accidentally head-butted. Also, center Isaiah Hartenstein and forward Lamar Stevens suffered concussions against the Wizards. Leading scorer Collin Sexton missed the game with a concussion he got last week in Charlotte. He also has been ruled out again, and there's no timeline on a return. The broken thumb is the latest medical setback for Nance, who missed seven games recently with an undisclosed illness and more than a month with a broken left hand. The 28-year-old Nance is averaging 9.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in 35 games. Cleveland has 12 games left in a season that has been marred by injuries. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Sat Apr 3 202123:45Heat continue home dominance over Cavaliers with 115-101 win
MIAMI (AP) — Duncan Robinson scored 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting on 3-pointers and the Miami Heat continued their home dominance over the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 115-101 victory Saturday night. Bam Adebayo finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Trevor Ariza scored 15 points and Jimmy Butler added 15 points and 11 assists as the Heat won their 20th straight against the Cavaliers in Miami. The Heat finished with 35 assists, including 13 in the first quarter. Robinson hit his first four 3-pointers as Miami shot 10 for 21 from long range in the first half and led 67-54 at halftime. “Everybody has pure intentions about it — just to play off each other, share the game and enjoy each other's success,” Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said. “You play to your strengths but you do it with the intention to play together, to try to create something better.” Collin Sexton scored 26 points and Taurean Prince finished with a season high 19 points for the Cavaliers, who lost their fifth straight and have...
