G Mo Williams missed his second game with an ankle injury Monday.

PG Mo Williams (ankle) will sit out his straight game when the Cavaliers play the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.

G Mo Williams and F LeBron James ignited the fourth-quarter turnaround, accounting for 21 of the Cavaliers' 24 fourth quarter points. The Knicks led 80-74 with 5:24 to play before Cleveland closed it out with a 16-4 run. James finished with 31 points and Williams scored 20.

Williams picked up the start at point guard in the Cavs' preseason opener Wednesday against the Hawks. He scored three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three assists, and one steal in 20 minutes.

With Kyrie Irving likely to miss the first month of the season, if not longer, while he continues to recover from a fractured kneecap, Williams is positioned to fill an early-season starting role for the Cavs. Though Williams' production in Wednesday's game wasn't particularly noteworthy, the luxury of both setting up LeBron James and receiving open looks due to the attention the Cavs star receives should allow Williams to hang on to some decent fantasy value until Irving returns.

Williams and the Cavaliers agreed in principle to a two-year, $4.3 million deal Monday, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

The veteran was rumored to be interested in returning to Cleveland, where he played alongside LeBron James from 2008-10. Williams has bounced around since then, but he remains an excellent scorer and can play both guard spots. The Cavs remain intent on bringing back Matthew Dellavedova, but the signing of Williams could mean J.R. Smith's return may be in jeopardy.

Williams is "more than interested" in making a return to Cleveland, Northeast Ohio Media Group reports.

Williams, who will be an unrestricted free agent come July 1, is apparently open to reuniting with LeBron James in Cleveland, where he played from 2008-10. The 32-year-old split last season between the Timberwolves and Hornets, averaging 12.2 points per game for Minnesota and 17.2 for Charlotte. While he's not the player he was five years ago, Williams remains a very serviceable point guard and would be a near-ideal option off the bench behind Kyrie Irving. However, Williams will likely seek a multi-year commitment, and the Cavaliers may not be in a position to be able to offer more than the taxpayer MLE or veteran's minimum. Ultimately, it may come down to whether Williams would be willing to sign on with the favorite in the East at a discount.

Williams was traded from the Timberwolves to the Hornets at the trade deadline in February and became an instant starter at point guard for Charlotte with Kemba Walker out with a knee injury. Williams had an up-and-down stint with Minnesota, but really started playing consistently well once he was with the Hornets and finished the season with averages of 14.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 29 minutes in his 12th NBA season.

Williams never really had a streak with the Timberwolves where he was playing consistently well. Rather, he would have spurts where he would have big games followed by disappointing outings. His role was also never clearly defined with Ricky Rubio going in and out of the lineup with injuries while rookie Zach LaVine occasionally got time as the starting point guard. He did, however, record eight double-doubles in Minnesota and even went off for 52 points in a January game against the Pacers. It was when Williams was traded to the Hornets where he really broke out. In a ten-game stretch where Walker was still out and Williams was the starter, he averaged 21.4 points and 8.5 assists in 35 minutes while leading the team to five straight wins at one point. He was playing as one of the best point guards in the league at the time, but saw a minutes reduction once Walker returned from injury. Now, at 32 years old, Williams will enter the offseason as a free agent once again, but his stint with Charlotte should show NBA teams that he still has something left in the tank. He should be see as someone who serve as a reliable starting point guard and a very good backup at worst.

Williams (knee) scored 19 points (6-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT) to go along with three rebounds in 25 minutes Monday against the Celtics.

Although Williams has been battling some knee issues, he was certainly not shy about taking shots Monday. He is coming off of the bench with Kemba Walker back and healthy, but Williams has still scored at least 18 points in each of his last three games. Continue to expect Williams to provide points and three-pointers down the stretch.

Williams (knee) posted 26 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists, two steals, and two blocks in 41 minutes of action Friday against the Wizards. He has been dealing with a sore knee, and the Hornets will "closely monitor him in games and limit his participation in practice," the Charlotte Observer reports.

Owners may need time to digest the news at hand -- Williams is apparently dealing with a sore knee and will likely be monitored moving forward -- but still manages to log 41 minutes Friday and post godly numbers in the process. It's a mixed message to absorb, and perhaps there is some evidence that he's ailing -- given that he went 8-for-26 from the field in Friday's game. That being said, he's still worth owning in standard leagues, and even if he sits a game or two every now and then, the Hornet's strong playoff schedule will compensate for it. Consider him a game-time decision for Saturday's game against the Hawks.

Williams (knee) will play Friday against the Wizards, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Williams was held out of Thursday's practice with soreness in his knee, but it looks to be nothing serious, and the guard will be available. Williams, who's averaging more than 17 points per game this month, is coming off of a tough outing (2-10 FG, 1-6 3Pt) against the Nets on Wednesday.

Williams (knee) did not practice Thursday and is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Wizards.

Williams played 30 minutes and struggled Wednesday, shooting 2-of-10 from the floor. He's dealing with some minor knee soreness, and it remains to be seen whether it's severe enough to cause him to miss a game.

Williams scored 15 points (4-16 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-5 FT) with six rebounds, five assists and a steal in 34 minutes off the bench Monday.

His performance has been spotty since he was bumped back to the bench by Kemba Walker's return to action, but Williams is still seeing big minutes and is contributing enough threes and assists to be useful in most leagues.

Williams scored a game-high 24 points (10-16 FG, 4-8 3Pt) Sunday to lift the Hornets over the Timmberwolves. He also had four rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes.

Against his former team, Williams came off the bench, as he usually does, and made his most shots in a game since Jan. 10 when he was still in Minnesota. Even with Kemba Walker back in the starting lineup, Williams has 18 or more points in seven of his past nine games.

Williams went cold off the bench Friday against the Kings, posting nine points on 3-for-15 shooting in 31 minutes of action.

Williams returned to his bench role Friday, but managed to log 31 minutes regardless. He'll still be worth owning in standard leagues, as it appears he's getting enough attempts to be effective in limited minutes.

Williams tallied 18 points (8-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt), eight assists, four rebounds, and one steal in 35 minutes on Tuesday against the Clippers.

Williams has played at least 32 minutes in three of the four games since Kemba Walker returned. Coach Steve Clifford will continue to bring Walker off the bench, and we've yet to see how they'll handle him on back-to-back sets. No need to deviate from Williams until the rotation changes.

Williams scored 20 points (8-20 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT) with eight assists, two rebounds and a block in 38 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Kings.

Kemba Walker's return from his knee injury didn't cut into Williams' value on Wednesday, but as Walker starts to play more minutes and assume his usual role in the offense, expect Williams' scoring to swoon at least a little.

Williams scored 19 points (6-18 FG, 1-10 3Pt, 6-7 FT) to go along with seven assists and one steal in 33 minutes Monday against the Wizards.

It's not too often that you see a player go 1-for-10 from behind the arc. Although he is only 2-for-15 on three-pointers in his last two games, he was 12-for-26 in his four games before that. He has been an extremely valuable fantasy option since being traded to the Hornets, but his value will likely take a hit when Kemba Walker (knee) returns.

Williams had his fifth 20-point game Sunday in six appearances in a win over the Pistons. He finished the game with 21 points (6-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-8 FT), nine assists and one steal in 37 minutes.

Williams has gone off since joining the Hornets at the trade deadline. He's only gone under 20 points twice in nine games with the team, and has four double-doubles in that stretch. However, when Kemba Walker returns, Williams's role on the team will likely be reduced.

Williams is not expected to remain in the starting lineup when Kemba Walker (knee) ultimately returns to the court, the Charlotte Observer reports.

A previous report said that Williams would start alongside Walker, but coach Steve Clifford has since clarified that will not happen. However, the coach did say that he intends to have both of the guards on the court at the same time, just not in the starting five. This means that Williams may still retain some his value when Walker returns sometime in the next two weeks.
