G Malik Beasley was recalled from the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Developmental League. Beasley, a rookie from Florida State, averaged 18 points per game with the Skyforce and had four earlier stints with the Nuggets in which he averaged 2.4 points in 19 games.

Forward Michael Beasley is headed for a sixth NBA team, as he agreed to sign with the New York Knicks on Tuesday.The club announced the signing but not the contract terms. Multiple media outlets reported that Beasley received a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum, $2.12 million.Beasley's role with the Knicks is uncertain because of the possibility of a trade that could see Carmelo Anthony leave the team.Beasley, 28, spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 56 games (six starts).He previously played for the Miami Heat (2008-09 to 2009-10, 2013-14 to 2014-15), the Minnesota Timberwolves (2010-11 to 2011-12), the Phoenix Suns (2012-13) and the Houston Rockets (2015-16).In 509 career games (206 starts), Beasley averages 12.6 points and 4.7 rebounds.The 6-foot-10, 235-pounder was a first-round pick, second overall, of the Heat out of Kansas State in 2008.

F LeBron James will sit out Friday night's preseason game against the Indiana Pacers due to his left ankle injury, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced. James suffered the injury during a practice on Sept. 27 when he stepped on the foot of rookie forward Cedi Osman. James returned to practice Thursday and coach Tyronn Lue said it was possible that James might play against the Pacers, but the Cavs opted against playing James for precautionary reasons.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert is expected to be sidelined seven to 10 days with a sprained left foot, the team announced Thursday.Shumpert sustained the injury while landing awkwardly after a missed dunk attempt during the first quarter of Wednesday's 109-93 preseason loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue is hopeful Shumpert will return before his team concludes the preseason on Oct. 13."We'll see," Lue said of Shumpert. "We'll see how he feels. He always heals pretty good. He heals faster than anyone I've ever seen. F Markieff Morris and his brother Marcus were acquitted Tuesday of aggravated assault charges of beating up an acquaintance in Phoenix back in 2015. The 28-year-olds were found not guilty on all counts after being accused of helping three others assault Erik Hood, 36, outside of a Phoenix high school basketball game on Jan. 24, 2015. Both Morris twins played for the Suns at the time, and Marcus is now with the Wizards.

PG Russell Westbrook once again signaled his loyalty to the Thunder on Friday when he signed a five-year, $205 million deal.The extension begins with the 2018-19 season and puts reigning NBA MVP under contract with the Thunder through the 2022-23 campaign. The 28-year-old Westbrook is coming off a historic season in which he averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists and set an NBA record with 42 triple-doubles.

G Dwyane Wade was introduced to the Cleveland media on Friday and let it be known how excited he was to be back with close friend LeBron James. The two went to four NBA Finals and won two championships in four years together with the Miami Heat before James left to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers after the 2013-14 season. Wade averaged 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 60 games with his hometown Bulls last season but was not interested in being a part of a long rebuilding process and agreed to a contract buyout, reportedly leaving $8 million on the table before signing with the Cavaliers for the veteran's minimum of $2.3 million. Wade owns career averages of 23.3 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 14 seasons with Miami and Chicago. PG Dennis Schroder of the Hawks was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge in an Atlanta suburb on Friday after an early morning incident. The 24-year-old Schroder was arrested in Brookhaven, Ga. He was released on bail later Friday. He is entering his fifth season with Atlanta. He averaged career-highs of 17.9 points and 6.3 assists last season.

F Carmelo Anthony said Thursday that potential trades involving the New York Knicks with both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets fell through at the last minute before he ended up with the Oklahoma City Thunder. "A deal was done with Houston early, then for some reason, whatever happened behind the scenes, it didn't go through," the 33-year-old Anthony told SiriusXM Radio. "It fell through, then we had to really start paying attention and thinking about other options." Anthony was sent to Oklahoma City for center Enes Kanter, forward Doug McDermott and the Chicago Bulls' 2018 second-round draft pick from the Thunder. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound Anthony, a 10-time All-Star and 14-year NBA veteran, joined the Thunder having appeared in 976 career games (all starts) while averaging 24.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals.

The Denver Nuggets exercised contract options on five players, the team announced Thursday.A pair of former first-round draft picks, guard Emmanuel Mudiay and forward Trey Lyles, had their fourth-year options exercised, while the team exercised third-year options on forward Juancho Hernangomez and guards Malik Beasley and Jamal Murray.The 6-foot-5 Mudiay, the No. 7 overall pick in 2015, averaged 12.0 points and 4.8 assists in his first two seasons. The 6-10 Lyles, taken five picks after Mudiay, averaged 6.1 points in his tenure with Utah. He was acquired from the Jazz in a draft-night trade in June.Murray had a productive rookie season. G Dwyane Wade signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Wade, 35, reached a buyout agreement with the rebuilding Chicago Bulls over the weekend and reports immediately began to come out that he was leaning toward rejoining close friend and former teammate LeBron James with the Cavaliers. The two stars won two NBA championships and went to four straight NBA Finals together with the Miami Heat.

F Zach Randolph told reporters that he was "wrongfully arrested" last month at a Los Angeles housing project on suspicion of possessing marijuana with intent to sell. Randolph was charged with misdemeanor drug possession and resisting arrest, instead of the felony charge, and ultimately was sentenced earlier this month to 150 hours of community service. "I'm not speaking a lot about it," Randolph told reporters Monday, "but I felt that I was wrongfully arrested. Things that was put out there wasn't true. But I don't want to be a distraction to my team, my organization, so I'm just going to move forward and play basketball."

C Alex Len, who was the fifth pick in the 2013 draft, and the Suns did not agree on a rookie contract extension. He signed a qualifying offer for one year and $4.2 million for the 2017-18 season, according to The Vertical. He will become an unrestricted free agent in July.

G/F DeAndre Liggins and cash considerations were acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for draft considerations, the Atlanta Hawks announced Monday. A couple of hours later in an expected move, the Hawks released Liggins and the veteran is now an unrestricted free agent.
