Knicks coach Derek Fisher confirmed Calderon (Achilles) will start at point guard in Wednesday's preseason opener against Brazilian team Bauru Basket, Ian Begley of ESPN New York reports.

The Achilles' injury spelled an early end to Calderon's 2014-15 season, but with a full offseason to recover, he'll be back in action to direct the Knicks offense. Team president Phil Jackson said earlier in the summer that he anticipates Calderon will see minutes in the upper-20s this season, with second-year man Langston Galloway and rookie Jerian Grant occasionally relieving him at point guard. Calderon averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 assists over 42 games with the Knicks last season.

Calderon (Achilles) was projected to play 26-28 minutes per game this season by President Phil Jackson, Charley Rosen of ESPN reports.

Calderon was hampered all last season by an Achilles injury he suffered in training camp, effectively cutting his season short and affecting his shot. He played at least 80 percent of his games every season prior to last, and the minute restriction will afford him the chance to meet that plateau once more. The triangle offense neutered Calderon's fantasy value last season, and he'll compete with rookie Jerian Grant during training camp for the lion's share of the point guard duties. Calderon offers minimal support beyond assists and three-pointers, limiting his fantasy appeal in standard leagues.

Calderon, who suffered through a loss of form and injuries last season in New York, will now have to battle Jerian Grant for the starting point guard job.

Grant, who was a senior for Notre Dame, will challenge Calderon for minutes after Calderon struggled in his first season in New York. After averaging 9.1 points last season, it's hard to recommend drafting Calderon in any standard sized leagues next season.

Calderon endured a frustrating opening season with the Knicks, playing a career-low 42 games and averaging 9.1 points, 4.7 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.4 three-pointers in 30.2 minutes per game.

Calderon arrived in New York via trade last summer and immediately was expected to reinvigorate the team's point guard position. However, following a preseason calf injury, Calderon missed the Knicks' first 13 games, before a sore left Achilles ended his season on Feb. 25. Even when healthy, the 33-year-old Calderon's fantasy value was less than admirable, as he experienced his worst statistical season since his first couple years in the league. Under contract in New York for two more seasons, the aging Calderon will get a chance to redeem himself next season, but his production represents more of a back-up point guard option.

Calderon (Achilles) is unlikely to return this season, according to coach Derek Fisher, Ian Begley of ESPN reports.

Fisher said he doesn't believe Calderon will return this season, as he continues to battle an Achilles injury. He's currently in a walking boot, and with the Knicks well out of contention, with the goal of attaining the highest possible draft pick, the team really has no reason to bring Calderon back.

Calderon hopes to return to the court at some point in the next couple weeks, but he still has a way to go in his recovery, and admitted it is unlikely he will play again this season. Shane Larkin and Langston Galloway will continue to hold down the point guard duties for the Knicks.

Calderon underwent Platelet Rich Plasma treatment Monday on his sore left Achilles, which will be evaluated in 10-to-14 days.

If he's examined during the aforementioned span, Calderon may receive clearance to play the final week of the regular season. Thus, any setback with his recovery will more than likely wipe out the current campaign. It's difficult to believe that the point guard can contribute to fantasy championships in an effective manner at this point.

Calderon (Achilles) will be re-evaluated Tuesday, the New York Post reports. "It's a little pain but we're going to keep building and see how it reacts," Calderon said.

Calderon has been dealing with the injury for nearly a month now, and it doesn't seem too likely that he'll be back soon. The Knicks are closing off on a fairly low note, and they don't need Calderon to rush back. That being said, he isn't worth owning in most leagues, and Langston Galloway will continue to start in his stead.

Calderon (Achilles) could miss the remainder of the season, the New York Post reports.

Calderon, who has a strained Achilles, will miss his tenth straight game Sunday against the Suns. He said that he would like to play before the end of the season, especially after missing the first 13 contests of the year with a calf strain. "He's doing a little more each day, but I think he's still a ways away," coach Derek Fisher said. "Once we get back [to New York], he'll be evaluated." Continue to consider Calderon day-to-day, but it doesn't look like a return is imminent.

Calderon (Achilles) will not be reexamined for two weeks, Newsday's Barbara Barker reports.

Whether or not Calderon's injury is truly this serious is irrelevant, although his absence should theoretically aid them in their quest to have the most ping pong balls for this year's draft lottery. Either way, it looks like a return in late March would be the best-case scenario for Calderon, meaning he can be dropped in a good portion of fantasy leagues. Langston Galloway, Shane Larkin and Alexey Shved will continue to share minutes in the Knicks' backcourt in Calderon's absence.

Calderon's (Achilles) MRI on Saturday revealed a strain and he will not be able to take the court against the Raptors as a result.

Calderon should be considered day-to-day moving forward as he nurses his strained Achilles ahead of Tuesday's game against the Kings. Rookie Langston Galloway will likely take over at point guard in the meantime which opens up a spot at shooting guard for either Tim Hardaway or Cleanthony Early in the starting five.

Calderon (Achilles) has been ruled out for Friday's game, Knicks.com's Jonah Ballow reports.

He will be reevaluated with an MRI on Saturday, and we should get a better idea of the severity of his injury at that time. Langston Galloway, Shane Larkin and Alexey Shved should absorb all of the minutes at point guard Friday.

Calderon (Achilles) is considered doubtful for Friday's game against Detroit, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.

Calderon left Wednesday's loss to Boston with the injury and admitted to reporters after the game that he's been dealing with soreness for several weeks. He was seen in a boot at Thursday's practice, so barring an unexpectedly quick recovery, he'll likely be on the sidelines Friday. That means Langston Galloway or Alexey Shved could get the start at point guard for the rag-tag Knicks.

Calderon, who departed Wednesday's game against the Celtics with a left Achilles injury, said after the contest he has played through a sore Achilles for a few weeks, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Calderon was able to play through the injury until Wednesday, but his status moving forward is now uncertain. Expect more details about his status to emerge prior to the Knicks' next game Friday against the Pistons.

Calderon didn't return to Wednesday's outing at Boston due to a sore left Achilles.

Before departing with 6:33 left in the game, Calderon put up five points (1-7 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven assists, two rebounds, and one steal in 36 minutes. Consider him questionable for Friday's contest in Detroit, but if he fails to suit up, Langston Galloway and Alexey Shved would handle the bulk of the ballhandling duties.

Calderon scored 17 points (7-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt) with two rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes during Tuesday's loss to the Celtics.

If, as rumored, Calderon is on the trading block, nights like this can only help his chances of getting out of New York and onto a roster where he'll have more support. The veteran point guard will need to stay healthier if he's going to have a productive second half though, no matter what uniform he's in.

Calderon (knee) posted four points, three rebounds, eight assists, and two steals in 27 minutes of action in his return Wednesday against the Thunder.

Calderon missed one game with a knee injury, and it's encouraging to see him log 27 minutes in his return. Still, he's averaging just 8.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in January. He has some potential due to his capability of producing assists, but his value has been limited this season as a member of a struggling Knicks squad. He's a low-end option in standard leagues until further notice.

Calderon (knee) will play Wednesday against the Thunder.

Calderon will miss a second straight game as a result of a knee contusion, meaning Tim Hardaway, Jr. will likely make another start alongside Langston Galloway. Consider Calderon questionable for Thursday's game against Indiana.

Calderon sustained a knee contusion Friday against the Magic and sat out Saturday's game against Charlotte. He'll likely test out the knee in warmups before a final call is made. If Calderon can't go, New York will probably keep Tim Hardaway, Jr. in the starting backcourt alongside Langston Galloway.

Given Calderon's injury problems, there's a chance this knee contusion could end up being more serious than initially thought. Calderon will get his next chance to return Monday, but it's hard to say if he'll be healthy by then.
