G Jerryd Bayless was responsible for three of 3-pointers on Monday night and finished with 14 points off the bench. He was one of seven Bucks players who scored in double digits.

G Jerryd Bayless had 17 off the bench to lead Milwaukee and also grabbed six rebounds to go along with five assists. To top it off, he spent the game's final minutes matched up against F LeBron James after F Giannis Antetokounmpo fouled out."Go guard him," Bayless said. "That's all it was, nothing else. As great as he is, I'm going to try to make it as tough as possible for him. That was my mentality going into it."

"I told him before the game that there was a good chance he could play a lot," coach Jason Kidd said of Bayless, who made eight of 15 shots from the floor, including six of 10 from long range. "He knew we were short-handed and he had to play a lot. I thought he was great. He didn't hesitate. He knew we needed someone to step up."

Bayless appeared in 77 games for the Bucks in 2014-15, averaging 7.8 points, 3.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 22.3 minutes.

Bayless made four spot starts throughout the year but spent the vast majority of the season coming off the bench, as he's done for the bulk of his career. After getting off to a rough start 5.9 points, 2.1 assists, 39.5% FG in November Bayless played well in December and January as the Bucks solidified themselves as playoff contenders in the weak Eastern Conference. From Dec. 1 to Jan. 31 (28 games), Bayless averaged 9.4 points and 3.5 assists while shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from three. It was one of the better stretches for Bayless over the past few seasons, but as a 41.4 percent career shooter he was destined to regress to the mean. That's exactly what happened over the final third of the regular season. Bayless shot just 40.1 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three in February and March, and those numbers plummeted to 30.3 percent and 10.0 percent (1-10 3Pt) over the final eight games of the regular season. He had a few nice moments in the Bucks' first round playoff series against Chicago most notably putting in a layup at the buzzer to win Game 4 but ended the series shooting 34.3 percent from the floor. Bayless remains under contract for a very palatable $3 million next season before hitting free agency in the summer of 2016.

Bayless hit the buzzer-beating, game-winning layup at the end of regulation Saturday, finishing with 10 points (3-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, and five assists in 25 minutes off the bench in the Bucks' Game 4 win over the Bulls.

The Bucks only used four reserves, but each bench player played at least 24 minutes, as O.J. Mayo led a Bucks bench attack that kept the Bucks toe-to-toe with the Bulls in the second half. Coach Jason Kidd plays the hot hand, so it's hard to know if Bayless will continue to get big minutes in Game 5. Don't chase points. Only use Bayless in daily games if you think he'll get the minutes.

Bayless has been productive off the bench through the Bucks' first two playoff games.

Bayless has been in a slump dating back to the All-Star break, and he entered the postseason shooting 30 percent over his last seven games. He posted eight points in 15 minutes in Game 1 and provided 11 points and five assists in 23 minutes in Monday's Game 2. With Michael Carter-Williams struggling, Bayless should continue to see a steady backup role, though the Bucks' run could be over in short order, as they find themselves down 2-0 heading into Thursday's Game 3.

Bayless took part in a full practice Thursday, CF Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Bayless was rested for the regular season finale against Boston on Wednesday, so the news of him participating in practice comes as no surprise. The backup point guard will be ready to play when the Bucks and Bulls open play Saturday evening in Chicago.

Bayless (ankle) put up 14 points (4-11 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT) with eight rebounds and five assists in 34 minutes in the loss to New Orleans on Tuesday.

Bayless missed the last three games, but played more than his usual allotment of minutes. He hit a beautiful floater in the fourth quarter and was generally aggressive offensively. With Michael Carter-Williams also limited with an ankle injury, Bayless may have some short-term value.

Because the Bucks' top two point guard options (Bayless and Michael Carter-Williams) are sidelined due to ankle injuries, Tyler Ennis is getting the nod at point guard. Meanwhile, consider Bayless questionable for Tuesday's contest at New Orleans.

Bayless was absent from the Bucks' back-to-back set Wednesday and Thursday due a right ankle injury. However, he could assume his typical gig as the primary backup point guard to Michael Carter-Williams. In seven appearances together since Carter-Williams joined the team at the trade deadline, Bayless has averaged eight points (on 39 percent shooting), 2.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.7 three-pointers in 24 minutes.

Bayless has missed the last two games nursing a right ankle injury, and could potentially miss a third straight. If he does, look for Tyler Ennis to continue to see increased minutes in his absence.

With Brandon Knight traded away, and Michael Carter-Williams not yet ready to play, Bayless got the starting nod. He played well, but moving forward he may have to compete with Tyler Ennis for the backup point guard role.

Bayless (hip) will start at point guard against the Nuggets on Friday.

Bayless shook off a right hip flexor injury during the All-Star break and will start in place of Michael Carter-Williams (toe) on Friday. However, Bayless will likely move into a limited role off the bench whenever Carter-Williams gets back on the court.

Bayless sustained a right hip flexor strain Wednesday against the Kings and won't return.

Bayless logged just five minutes before leaving for good, finishing with two points (2-2 FT), two steals, and one assist. Because the All-Star break approaches, his next chance to take the floor arrives on Friday, Feb. 20 against the Nuggets.
