Koufos (illness) is considered questionable for Friday's game against the Celtics, Rob Fischer of Sports 56 WHBQ in Memphis reports.
All five Grizzlies who missed Wednesday's game with a stomach virus are considered questionable Friday, and an update likely won't come until Friday afternoon. If Koufos cannot play, Marc Gasol will be tasked with another heavy minutes load after playing 41 Wednesday.
Wed Nov 19 201418:40Koufos (illness) ruled out Wednesday
Koufos (illness) has been ruled out Wednesday, CBS Sports' James Herbert reports.
Koufos is one of five Grizzlies that will miss Wednesday's game with a stomach virus. Look for Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph to get all the minutes they can handle. Consider Koufos day-to-day.

Koufos (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's game, Sports 56 WHBQ's Rob Fischer reports.
Five Grizzlies are questionable with a stomach virus that has spread through the locker room. With Jon Leuer also ailing, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol could be asked to carry an even bigger load than usual in Wednesday's game against the Raptors.

Koufos recorded 10 points (5-6 FG), six rebounds, one assist, three steals and three blocks in 17 minutes during the Grizzlies' 119-93 win versus the Rockets on Monday.
After a slow start to the season Koufos has started to get things going lately. This was the first time rookie Jarnell Stokes received playing time this season, and with only Jon Leuer and Koufos currently being relied on to play backup minutes behind Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, those two should continue to see ample playing time off the bench. Still, Koufos is likely only worth a look in deep leagues unless Gasol or Randolph suffers an injury, as Koufos thrived when Gasol was forced to miss time last season.

Koufos contributed 14 points (5-5 FG, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and one block in 25 minutes during the Grizzlies' 107-102 win versus the Lakers on Tuesday.
His 25 minutes were nearly twice his average thus far, and the 14 points were four more than he'd scored in all seven games combined this season. Koufos just hadn't been able to get anything going until tonight, but was really impressive in extended time, albeit against an unimpressive Lakers defense. Still, this was the first game that the Grizzlies had a reserve reach double figures, so they have to be pleased. There aren't a ton of minutes leftover behind Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, but if Koufos can provide more consistent contributions he may be in line for a more consistent role as well. Still, he's unlikely to gain too much value outside of deeper leagues unless Gasol or Randolph suffer an injury.

Koufos has played in all six games this season but is only spending 13.8 minutes on the court per contest.
Koufos is one of the first frontcourt options off the bench, but the minutes are dominated by Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. An injury to one of these two players would increase the time on the court that Koufos would receive, but there's no reason to believe that will happen this season.
Thu Jul 31 201409:45Koufos could play more minutes during 2014-15 season
Koufos could play more minutes during the 2014-15 season. He averaged 17 minutes per game through 80 games played in the 2013-14 season.
With the Grizzlies opting to guarantee his contract earlier this month after renouncing Ed Davis, it's possible Koufos could see a slight uptick in playing time in 2014-15. During 2013-14, Koufos, Davis, and John Leuer shared the backup minutes behind Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, but it was Koufos who thrived when Gasol was forced to miss considerable time due to injury early in the year. The Grizzlies did draft another frontcourt player during the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft in Jarnell Stokes, who averaged 12.2 points and 9.4 rebounds in five summer league games, so it's possible Koufos will remain stuck in a similar type of time-sharing situation as last year. He's still likely to see the most backup big man minutes, but without an injury to Randolph or Gasol he's unlikely to be worthy of too much consideration in anything but the deepest leagues.
Tue Jul 1 201411:08Grizzlies pick up Kosta Koufos' team option
The Memphis Grizzlies have picked up Kosta Koufos' $3 million option for next season.
The Grizzlies guaranteed Koufos the $3 million deal for next season after they decided not to extend a qualifying offer to Ed Davis. Koufos had a semi-productive stretch when Marc Gasol was injured last season, but his 2013-14 averages of 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks limit his fantasy value to deeper leagues unless he sees a major uptick from his 16.9 minutes per game last season.

Sun Jun 29 201417:25Grizzlies likely to keep Kosta Koufos at $3m
The Grizzlies are "likely" to pick up Kosta Koufos' $3 million team option, according to beat writer Ronald Tillery.
Koufos proved his worth in 22 starts while Marc Gasol (sprained MCL) was injured last year, averaging 8.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 24 minutes per game. A backup role in Memphis doesn't do his fantasy value any favors, but at $3 million he's a solid addition to the Grizzlies' frontcourt.

Sat Mar 22 201401:15Koufos could see more time if Gasol is out
Kosta Koufos scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting with five rebounds and one block in 19 minutes off the bench on Friday, but could see more action if Marc Gasol misses time with his sprained ankle.
Koufos started well earlier in the year when Gasol went down but the good times quickly ended and never picked back up. If you're in a 12-14 team league and need a center he could be worth a speculative add, but you're doing it at your own risk and not at the expense of anybody with a pulse.

Sat Mar 8 201423:10Kosta Koufos double-doubles in win
Kosta Koufos came off the bench for 12 points and 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes on Saturday.
Al Jefferson's not known for his defense and is probably a big reason that Koufos got loose tonight. Despite playing just 19 minutes in each of his last three games, he's scored 12 points in each of them and is averaging 8.0 rebounds, as well. But you have to think the other shoe is about to fall, as it would be very surprising to see him keep this up if he's getting fewer than 20 minutes a night.

Wed Feb 12 201421:42Kosta Koufos plays 20 minutes w/ M. Gasol out
With Marc Gasol leaving Wednesday's game early due to a knee injury, Kosta Koufos stepped into a bigger role and had seven points, four rebounds, one steal and one block in 20 minutes.
Fantasy owners should take a wary view of Koufos until the Grizzlies update Gasol's status. He got off to a hot start after Gasol sprained his MCL earlier this season but soon found his role being eroded by Ed Davis and Jon Leuer, so even if Gasol isn't ready to play on Feb. 18 there are no guarantees that Koufos will help owners in 12-team leagues.

Sat Jan 25 201423:22Kosta Koufos hits 7-of-8 shots in win
Kosta Koufos came off the bench and hit 7-of-8 shots for 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in Saturday's win over the Rockets.
Despite the fact that Marc Gasol has really struggled since returning from his knee injury, Koufos hasn't been doing much, either. Prior to this explosion, he had scored a total of four points with five rebounds and one block in his previous three games. Ignore him.

Mon Dec 30 201323:54Kosta Koufos plays 30 minutes vs. Bulls
Kosta Koufos played 30 minutes against the Bulls on Monday with 12 points, three boards, one steal and one block.
His minutes have been on the rise in each of his last four games and the Grizzlies seem comfortable leaving him in at center once again. Koufos has put up decent numbers over his last five games with averages of 9.2 points, 8.4 boards, 0.6 steals and 0.8 blocks in 23.0 minutes, so he's back on the radar. If you're looking for some help at center, give Kosta a look as long as you're aware his value will fall off once Marc Gasol (knee) returns.

Sun Dec 29 201301:17Kosta Koufos playing better for Grizzlies
Kosta Koufos had nine points, 12 rebounds, two steals and a block in Saturday's win against Denver.
After seemingly falling off a fantasy cliff, his production is back. He's averaging 8.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 0.8 blocks over his last five games, and might be a decent play until Marc Gasol is back. However, Gasol sounds close to a return from his knee injury, so Koufos' resurgence will likely be short lived.

Fri Dec 27 201301:55Kosta Koufos plays 23 minutes vs. Houston
Kosta Koufos played 23 minutes against the Rockets on Thursday during a 100-92 loss, scoring five points with 11 boards, one assist and three fouls.
His minutes are on the rise over his last two while Jon Leuer's are declining, but he certainly hasn't done enough to deserve a pickup in fantasy leagues. The Grizzlies might have wanted some extra size in the paint vs. Houston, so we'll go with that as a reasonable explanation.

Sat Dec 21 201314:52Kosta Koufos solid in 16 minutes off bench
Kosta Koufos scored 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked one shot in Saturday's victory, despite playing under 16 minutes off the bench.
Even though he played a reserve role, this was Koufos' best game in over a week. His initial surge after Marc Gasol's sprained MCL is becoming a distant memory, and he can be cut in favor of a hot free agent.

Thu Dec 19 201301:37Kosta Koufos has another dud
Kosta Koufos played 18 minutes during Wednesday's 105-91 loss to the Mavericks with six points, seven boards, one steal and one block.
This is the fourth time he's turned in a line to prompt a drop, so even stubborn owners should be looking to dump Koufos for anything right now.

Tue Dec 17 201323:15Kosta Koufos plays just 13 minutes
Kosta Koufos' woes continued on Tuesday when he played just 13 minutes and hit 1-of-5 shots for two points and six rebounds.
Koufos has quickly fallen out of favor in Memphis, playing 16 or fewer minutes in three straight games. and scoring a total of 10 points in them. As if that's not bad enough, Jon Leuer stayed hot tonight (13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 3-pointers) and appears to be the preferred center for the Grizzlies right now. Additionally, Marc Gasol appears to be nearing a return, which will quickly send Koufos into oblivion. Yes, it's time to drop him.

Sun Dec 15 201321:33Kosta Koufos invisible, Jon Leuer stays hot
The Grizzlies got minimal production from Kosta Koufos in Sunday's home loss to the Wolves, as their starting center scored two points and grabbed two rebounds in 16 minutes.
He had played at least 30 minutes in every game since Marc Gasol (knee) went down, but he only played 14 minutes vs. the Pelicans on Friday and it wasn't due to foul trouble. Jon Leuer's terrific play off the bench is the primary culprit, but for now fantasy owners should stay patient -- we'll change our tune in a hurry if Koufos flops again during the Grizzlies upcoming back-to-back set.
