Fri Sep 25 201500:18Ajinca (Achilles) will be ready to go fro start of training camp
Ajinca (Achilles) will be ready to go fro the start of training camp, John Reid of The Times-Picayune reports.
Ajinca was dealing with some minor soreness over the summer that forced him to skip Eurobasket, but it appears the issue won't carry into the regular season. He re-signed with the Pelicans in the offseason on a four-year deal after averaging 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 14 minutes last season, and he figures to serve in a similar role off the bench again in 2015-16.

Ajinca has been dealing with pain in his Achilles tendon and will not play in Eurobasket with the French national team, Eurohoops.net reports.
Ajinca wants to play, apparently, but after the Pelicans re-signed him to a four-year, $20 million deal this offseason, they told him he can't play with the injury. With NBA training camp another month away, Ajinca will likely be healthy by the time camp starts up, but even when he is healthy this season, Ajinca will likely be the second or third player in the center rotation for the Pelicans, limiting his value when Anthony Davis, Omer Asik, and Ryan Anderson are healthy.

Ajinca signed a four-year, $20 million deal to remain with the Pelicans on Wednesday, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
Ajinca will return to New Orleans to continue as the backup to Anthony Davis. Last season, Ajinca averaged 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 55.0 percent from the field in just over 14 minutes per game. He doesn't figure to develop into much more than a marginal fantasy option, though he's shown promise as a volume rebounder when given ample opportunity.

Ajinca averaged 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, 0.7 assists, and 0.3 steals in 14 minutes per game through 68 games during the 2014-15 season.
Ajinca had one of his best seasons statistically, averaging a career high in points. More importantly, he was able to stay healthy the entirety of the season, playing a career-high 68 games. Against the Heat in late February, Ajinca had 24 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. He will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but unless he signs with a team that would promise him a significant role, it's hard to imagine Ajinca being draft-worthy in standard leagues next season based on the limited role he's played so far in his career.

Ajinca has mostly been out of the rotation this postseason, playing just four minutes in each game.
Ajinca played big minutes at times for the Pelicans during the regular season, but hasn't been afforded the opportunity thus far in the series against the Warriors. He has the potential to make noise in extended run however, scoring six points in Game 1 despite the limited court time.

Ajinca had 11 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 FT) and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes as a starter for Omer Asik (calf) in the Sunday loss to the Clippers.
Ajinca has been productive on the West Coast road trip. In three games, he has averaged 12.0 points and 8.3 rebounds. If Asik remains out, Ajinca remains a decent play in deeper leagues.

Ajinca posted 15 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and one block in 19 minutes of action Friday against the Warriors.
Ajinca got the start for the injured Anthony Davis and managed to produce. This shouldn't be a surprise, as Ajinca has done well as a filler option for Davis over the past month. Still, any sort of value will be short-lived, as Davis isn't expected out for too long.

Ajinca scored 17 points (7-14 FG) to go with five rebounds and four assists in Tuesday's win over the Nets.
It was an encouraging performance from the big man, but he's been inconsistent of late, with his previous three stat lines failing to generate much value, from a fantasy perspective. That said, he's proven capable of having big nights, it's just a matter of predicting when those will come.

Ajinca saw his minutes shrink in Friday's loss to the Celtics, only scoring four points (2-2 FG) and picking up four rebounds, one assist and a block in 10 minutes.
This was the first time in six games that Ajinca was held to single-digit points, and was the first time in that same span that he played less than 19 minutes in a game.

Ajinca had 10 points and 11 rebounds in 23 minutes Wednesday against Detroit.
Ajinca's production Wednesday remained in line with his recent numbers despite Anthony Davis' return to the lineup. He now has two consecutive double-doubles and is averaging 13.4 points and 8.2 rebounds over his last five.

Ajinca scored 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-2 FT) with 12 rebounds, a steal and a block in 25 minutes off the bench Monday.
In five games since Anthony Davis (shoulder) hit the shelf, Ajinca is averaging 14.6 points, 7.8 boards and 1.6 blocks, numbers worth a roster spot in most fantasy leagues. Don't hesitate to cut him loose once Davis returns, however.

Ajinca scored a season-high 24 points (9-10 FG, 6-8 FT) and grabbed eight rebounds in only 22 minutes of action Friday in a win over the Heat.
Ajinca has now scored double-digit points in three straight games. However, when Anthony Davis is healthy, Ajinca is immediately going to return the bench, so it's worth leaving him out there for a while on the waiver wire, but he might be worth a flier in some daily formats.

Ajinca scored 16 points (8-12 FG) to go along with nine rebounds, two assists, one block and five turnovers in 27 minutes Monday against the Raptors.
Although Ajinca didn't start Monday, he played significant minutes off of the bench and produced. As long as Anthony Davis (shoulder) continues to be sidelined, Ajinca should see increased fantasy value.
Fri Feb 20 201522:55Ajinca returned to bench Friday against Magic
Ajinca returned to the bench Friday against the Magic. He scored two points (1-3 FG) and added one rebound, one assist, and one block in 10 minutes.
Though Ajinca has considerable value whenever Anthony Davis or Omer Asik miss a game, he has a hard time making an impact when they are both available.

Ajinca started for Anthony Davis (shoulder) and had 14 points (3-8 FG, 8-8 FT) with seven rebounds in 25 minutes
Ajinca has played well enough with Davis out. In 24.7 minutes in the last three games, the center from France has averaged 10.7 points and 5.0 rebounds. Davis should be back after the All-Star break, but Ajinca could be a handcuff in deeper leagues.
Mon Feb 9 201519:08Ajinca will get start Monday
Ajinca will get the start Monday, Pelicans.com reports.
With Anthony Davis (shoulder) ruled out, Ajinca will enter the starting five at power forward alongside Omer Asik. The big man played 22 minutes in Saturday's blowout loss to Chicago, posting 10 points and four boards in 22 minutes. He's proven capable of putting up big numbers when given the chance, however, as evidenced by a three-game stretch in January when he averaged 15.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in 28.3 minutes.

Ajinca played extended minutes in the wake of Anthony Davis' shoulder injury. He concluded Saturday night's blowout loss with 10 points (5-9 FG, four rebounds, and one block in 22 minutes.
In four games without Anthony Davis (shoulder) this season, Ajinca averaged 15.5 points and 10.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 27.3 minutes with quality percentages for a center. Though he probably won't start, look for Ajinca's role to expand if Davis misses significant time. The Pelicans play two more games prior to the All-Star break, both nights with at least nine games.

Ajinca has a mental coach that helps him cope with playing a role that often fluctuates from him playing big minutes to not playing at all from game to game, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Several players use sports psychologists who help them deal with the unique pressure and stress of being a professional athlete. Whatever Ajinca is doing has been great. In the four games Ajinca has been used a spot starter, he's put up 7.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 19 minutes. When Anthony Davis misses games, Ajinca has been a great buy in daily games.

Ajinca scored eight points (3-8 FG, 2-5 FT) to go along with 11 rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes Monday against the Knicks.
Ajinca has seen increased playing time in the last three games with Anthony Davis (toe) out and he is averaging 15.3 points and 10.3 rebounds over that stretch. He is a nice daily option until Davis can return, but expect him to resume his limited bench role when Davis gets healthy.

Ajinca has worked his way back into the rotation over the last week, averaging nearly 12 minutes per game while shooting 63.2 percent from the floor.
Ajinca has been in and out of the rotation this season for coach Monty Williams. He won't see consistent playing time unless an injury occurs to starting center Omer Asik.
