Davis recorded five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, and two blocked shots over 16 minutes in Monday's preseason win over the Jazz.

Davis brought plenty of energy coming off the Blazers' bench, though he was a tad too aggressive at times with four fouls. The 6-foot-10 big man has bounced around the league over the last six seasons, but he should find a role in the Blazers' frontcourt rotation after the team noticed several personnel losses during the offseason. Davis and Noah Vonleh are expected to serve as the top two bigs off the bench behind presumptive starters Meyers Leonard and Mason Plumlee.

Davis is set on improving his free-throw shooting and playing all 82 games this season, Basketball Insiders reports.

Davis, the recipient of a three-year, $20 million deal this offseason, joined a Blazers squad ripe with playing time. Throughout his career, Davis has exhibited the skills of a traditional center without the requisite size. He played a career-high 81 games three seasons ago, and he's only started 82 games combined in his six-year career. Attempting a career-high 189 free throws last season, Davis shot a career-low 49 percent from the free-throw line, making him a liability late in games. He's a terror on the offensive glass, but his game lacks noticeable holes. He'll compete with Meyers Leonard, Noah Vonleh, and Mason Plumlee for frontcourt minutes, and he'll help any fantasy roster striving solely for field-goal percentage and blocks.

Davis agreed to a three-year, $20 million contract with the Blazers on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

With plenty of holes to fill, Portland will bring in Davis on a very affordable deal. The Blazers are thought to still be in the hunt to retain LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez, but if one or both sign elsewhere, Davis could see an increased role. Aldridge's decision, in particular, will have the biggest effect on Davis, who projects as the starting power forward if Aldridge leaves.

Davis has officially opted out of his contract and will test free agency, Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Davis signed a two-year, $2 million contract prior to the 2014-15 season, but he'll head to free agency in hopes of a longer term deal and more money. Davis has expressed a desire to return to the Lakers, but considering Los Angeles will likely go after a few prized free agents, it's questionable at this point if they'll be willing to bring him back. After showing some improvement during his fifth season, Davis is slated to see plenty of interest on the open market.

Davis said he wants to return to the Lakers next season, Mark Medina of the LA Daily News reports."I definitely want to be back," Davis said. "With everything being equal, I'm 100 percent going back there. Hopefully that's the case. But with free agency and all the stuff going on with the draft, you never know how things are going to go."

Davis had a very promising campaign with the Lakers in his fifth NBA season, posting averages of 8.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in just over 23 minutes per game. He has a roughly $1 million player option he can exercise this offseason to stay with the team, but given his production last season, he will likely want more money going forward. He's earned an increase in pay and given his willingness to stay and the Lakers' lack of true frontcourt depth, there's a good chance he is back in Los Angeles next season.

Davis was a productive bench player in his first year with the Lakers. He averaged 8.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals, 1.2 blocks, and 23 minutes per game in 79 games during the 2014-15 season.

Davis will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason after the best statistical year of his career. Although he had a bench role for most of the season (55 games), he worked his way into the starting lineup for almost a third of the Lakers' games (24). Davis has expressed that it is more important for him to feel comfortable and have a staff that appreciates him rather than sign wherever he is offered the most money. The Lakers' coaching staff has put their confidence in Davis, and it appears he is interested in re-signing. Davis has shown that given substantial minutes, he could grow into a double-double machine while keeping up his block numbers on the defensive end. If Davis is able to see an increase in minutes wherever he signs, his production looks to be on the upswing, and next season his value could rise.

Davis will be available off the bench for Monday's game against the Kings.

Davis was originally going to start Monday's game but coach Byron Scott decided to make a last second change before tipoff and used Jordan Hill instead.

Davis will sit out Sunday to rest, Mike Trudell of TWC SportsNet reports.

Without Davis or teammate Carlos Boozer in the lineup Sunday, look for Jordan Hill to get plenty of run, since he is coming back and should be fully rested.

Davis scored 16 points (6-7 FG, 4-4 FT), to go with nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block in 24 minutes on Sunday.

He was close to getting a double-double in this one, but he fell just short. He made good work in only 24 minutes, and he's showing he can put up the kind of numbers he was posting earlier this season. Jordan Hill is expected to be out until mid-February so Davis is a good fill in for those that need a power forward.

Davis had a career-high 20 rebounds to go with seven points (2-8 FG, 3-4 FT) and three assists in 33 minutes in the overtime loss to the Bucks on Wednesday.

Davis was all over the offensive glass with nine rebounds on that end of the court. He teamed well with Carlos Boozer against the slight Bucks' frontcourt. His previous high this season was 14 boards, so this performance was an outlier.
