OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Carmelo Anthony is done in Oklahoma City.A person with knowledge of the details told The Associated Press the Thunder are sending Anthony and a 2022 protected first-round pick to Atlanta in exchange for Hawks guard Dennis Schroder and Mike Muscala. Anthony will be waived by the Hawks, clearing the way for him to sign as a free agent elsewhere. ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on reserve guard Isaiah Taylor.Taylor, signed to a two-year contract last October, started nine of his 67 games last season. He averaged 6.6 points and 3.1 assists in 17.4 minutes.Taylor appeared to be in the Hawks' rebuilding plans. He sat alongside teammates Kent Bazemore, DeAndre Bembry and Mike Muscala at a news conference last month to announce the hiring of new coach Lloyd Pierce.But the Hawks decided Taylor was too expensive to keep. ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks expect to enter NBA free agency next week with about $20 million in salary cap space and three open spots on their roster.General manager Travis Schlenk says the team will be in no rush to spend that money."We will not be quickly out of the gate looking to sign guys," Schlenk said Monday, when the Hawks introduced their three first-round draft picks, guards Trae Young and Kevin Huerter and forward Omari Spellman."We'll kind of sit back and see what the market dictates. ... We'll kind of play a waiting game and see how the market plays out."The market is expected to generate stiff competition for top free agents LeBron James, Paul George and Chris Paul. ATLANTA (AP) — At the start of his first news conference as the Atlanta Hawks coach, Lloyd Pierce looked down at a row filled with four of his new players.His thoughts immediately turned to his passion: Defense."If we weren't doing this press conference right now, I'd probably have these guys doing some defensive drills," Pierce said Monday. "That's who I am."Pierce, the former Philadelphia 76ers assistant whose agreement to become the Hawks coach was announced Friday , said his first priority will be assembling a staff.
