Reed (quadriceps) will sit out Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons.
It's the second straight game Reed will miss on account of the right quad strain. Unless he's able to get back on the court in short order and play out of his mind for the remainder of the preseason, Reed stands minimal chance of cracking the Nets' opening night roster.

Reed (quad) will skip Monday's preseason contest against Fenerbahce Ulker.
Reed was held out of Thursday's practice due to the issue, but has reportedly seen improvement. Considering the minimal stakes of Monday's contest, it's not a big surprise that he'll continue resting his quad. Considering Reed's positioning with the team, he could use all of the preseason action possible to in an attempt to leave enough of an imprint to warrant a roster spot for the regular season.
Thu Oct 1 201516:12Reed (quadriceps) held out of Thursday's practice
Reed (quadriceps) was held out of Thursday's practice, but reported improvement with his condition, according to Newsday's Rob Boone reports. "It's definitely way better than it was [Wednesday] and I could actually do some motion stuff on the bike."
Reed's injury setback doesn't sound particularly severe at this juncture, but it could still prevent him from suiting up in the Nets' preseason opener on Monday in a matchup with Turkish squad Fenerbahce Ulker. The 6-foot-9 forward, who was a first-team All-D-League selection in 2014-15, will need to shake off the injury quickly if he hopes to secure a spot on the Nets roster out of training camp.
Wed Sep 30 201513:56Reed suffered strained right quad during Wednesday's practice
Reed suffered a strained right quad during Wednesday's practice, Rod Boone of Newsday reports.
After a strong showing for the Heat's summer league squad, Reed earned himself a fully-guaranteed $500,000 contract with the Nets. It's unlikely he'll see a significant amount of minutes for the club, but he could nab a roster spot with a strong training camp. Unfortunately, he encountered his first hurdle Wednesday by suffering a quad strain. While the severity remains unclear, he'll likely miss at least a couple days because of it. Reed was a First Team All D-League and First Team All-Defense member in 2014-15, and could stumble into his first regular season minutes if he earns a roster spot.
Thu Jul 9 201515:55Reed signed one-year deal with Nets on Thursday
Reed signed a one-year deal with the Nets on Thursday, Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post reports.
The deal is fully guaranteed for next season and will pay Reed $500,000. He's been a standout for the Heat's entry at the Orlando Summer League, averaging 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field. The Saint Louis product has never appeared in a regular season NBA game.

Reed confirmed Wednesday that he will play for the Pacers' summer league team.
Reed will play for the Pacers for the second straight summer as he comes off of a successful campaign in the D-League. The forward averaged 16.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game on the season en route to First Team All D-League and First Team All-Defense honors. The 25-year-old will look to parlay that success into an NBA contract, though it will certainly be an uphill battle, and he's unlikely to land a fully guaranteed deal.

Sacramento Kings sign F Willie Reed.
The Kings have signed Reed to rest-of-season contract that has an option for next season and the 23-year-old will join the team for their upcoming three-game trip. He was in camp with the Kings last season and has since spent his time with the Springfield Armor of the D-League. Reed was averaging 14.8 points, 10.1 boards, and 1.6 blocks with the Armor, but will be hard-pressed to find enough minutes to provide any fantasy value with the Kings.
