Stauskas (back) will not play Wednesday.

The rookie had a back injury flare up during Tuesday's win over Minnesota, which limited him to only 13 minutes. He'll remain out Wednesday, joining DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay on the sidelines.

He's considered day-to-day again, but the lingering nature of the injury may prompt the Kings to back off of Stauskas with just five games remaining beyond Tuesday night.

Stauskas (back) has been upgraded to probable for Tuesday's contest against the Timberwolves, the Kings' official site reports.

Stauskas left Sunday's game due to a mid back strain, but a day off Monday has translated to likely active status Tuesday. Since the All-Star break, his role in the backcourt rotation has increased, as he's averaged 6.8 points (on 44 percent shooting), 1.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and one trey in 19 minutes.

Stauskas left Sunday's game with back spasms but expects to be fine going forward, insinuating that he should be available to play Tuesday, News10 reports.

Stauskas played 16 minutes Sunday before leaving the game. He finished with four points, one rebound, and one assist. Stauskas is an interesting player for dynasty leagues and deep keeper leagues, but beyond that, he's held little value in fantasy as a rookie. His status in fantasy hinges largely on how well he improves this offseason and how much coach George Karl plans to use him next season.

Stauskas tied his season high Tuesday by scoring 15 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-6 FT) in 26 minutes in a win over the Knicks.

Stauskas hardly gets any playing time on the Kings, so this game is clearly an outlier. Unless something major changes, Stauskas simply isn't a fantasy option this season.

Stauskas did not play in Thursday's win over the Bulls.

Stauskas has lost all his playing time to second year shooting guard Ben McLemore. The rookie has no fantasy value until he gets himself back into the rotation.

Stauskas recorded three blocks and one assist while scoring three points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3P) Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. He turned the ball over once in 21 minutes of action.

Stauskas is coming off the bench behind Ben McLemore, at the moment, but the second year starter has been unimpressive to say the least. If Stauskas can develop into the sharp shooter the Kings thought they were drafting he should surpass McLemore on the depth chart at some point this season.

Stauskas (shoulder) returned to practice Wednesday, The Sacramento Bee reports.

Stauskas missed Monday's preseason game versus the Spurs, but was back in action Wednesday, which bodes well for his involvement in the Kings' last preseason game Friday. At the moment, it's unclear whether Stauskas or last year's first-rounder Ben McLemore will start at shooting guard for the Kings, so the Canadian could make a final claim for the position if he's able to suit up Friday.

Stauskas missed Monday's preseason tilt at San Antonio due to rotator cuff tendinitis in his left shoulder.

The Kings' starting shooting guard spot effectively remains unclaimed, and Stauskas has responded with 9.6 points (on 46 percent shooting), 1.4 rebounds, 1.4 threes, and one assists in 24.2 minutes per game. If the injury is a minor one, he'll have one more chance to fend off Ben McLemore for a spot in the starting five.

Stauskas will start at shooting guard for the Kings in Tuesday's preseason game, Cowbell Kingdom's James Ham reports.

He came off the bench in the Kings' preseason opener, but he had 12 points in 26 minutes, and ended up playing four more minutes than Ben McLemore. While there's not a clear starter at the two to open the season in Sacramento, McLemore's track record of mediocrity makes Stauskas a more worthwhile gamble at the end of drafts.

Stauskas had 12 points (4-8 FG, 2-2 FT) and two three-pointers made in 26 minutes coming off the bench for the Kings during their 99-94 loss to the Raptors at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Sunday.

Stauskas, the Canadian native, made two of his five three-point attempts as a crowd favorite Sunday. Coach Mike Malone drafted Stauskas this offseason to improve team three-point shooting, an area both the Kings and Ben McLemore struggled mightily in last season. Stauskas will be competing against Ben McLemore for the starting shooting guard position this offseason. McLemore started Sunday and has the upper hand at this point due to his extra year of NBA experience, but Stauskas did end up with 26 minutes played compared to McLemore's 22 minutes. �

Stauskas could receive a relatively good amount of playing time to start the year as coach Michael Malone has said that Stauskas and Ben McLemore can play alongside each other, the Kings' official website reports. "What I've seen is that Ben and Nik can play together without any problem. They both have a pretty good understand of the game and they play well off of each other," Malone said.

Stauskas was drafted eighth overall in this year's draft out of the University of Michigan where he scored 17.5 points per game and had a 47-percent field goal percentage last season. While Stauskas is recognized for his stellar three-point shooting, his ability to drive to the basket, distribute the ball to his teammates, and create shots in traffic remains an underrated part of his game.

Coach Mike Malone said rookie Nik Stauskas has been picking things up quickly.

"He's a very smart kid," Malone said. "He's a very confident young man and he's a hard, hard worker." The Kings gave the Michigan product plenty of responsibilities on top of scoring the ball, and they may have him help facilitate the offense in the regular season. He's a good bet to unseat Ben McLemore as the starter.

Nik Stauskas shot 6-of-8 from the field for 15 points with three rebounds, two assists and three 3-pointers in 26 minutes on Monday.

In his post-game interview, he talked mostly about spreading the ball and his defense. Stauskas has definitely kept his ear to the ground and is playing with a chip on his shoulder. We'll see how he fares the rest of the week.

Nik Stauskas' second outing wasn't was effective as his first, scoring 10 points with two rebounds, one assist, one turnover and two 3- pointers in 35 minutes on Sunday.

He never really got into a rhythm and even shot just 2-of-6 from the line. Stauskas' ability to get to the line has probably been the biggest takeaway from the tournament besides how he's outplaying Ben McLemore. He's on the radar in standard leagues, but probably won't be worthy of a pick.

Nik Stauskas showed some promise vs. the Spurs on Friday with 14 points, three assists, two steals, two blocks and three turnovers.

The buzz around the Kings hasn't been great these days, but Stauskas had a nice start to his pro career. While he is mostly known for shooting, the rookie was effective at putting the ball on the floor and was solid on defense. With Isaiah Thomas out of the picture, there could be some minutes for him. Obviously, his coach loves him too.

Rookie Nik Stauskas signed his rookie contract with the Kings late on Tuesday night.

He's a sharp shooter and should be a similar player to J.J. Redick, although his all-around game appears to be better than Redick's. We'll have to see how the Kings' opening roster shapes up, but you can expect Stauskas to be a big part of things from the get-go.
