Mon Apr 18 202212:29Jonas Valanciunas Compiles 25 Rebounds In Game 1 Loss
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas enjoyed a field day on the glass during Sunday's defeat to the Suns. Valanciunas grabbed a staggering 25 rebounds in total, tying his career high. The last time that Valanciunas pulled down that many boards came Feb. 28, 2020, while the 13 offensive rebounds that he secured set a new career best for the regular season or playoffs. Many of those boards came on the back of his own misses, as he finished 7-for-21 from the floor during his double-double, which saw him finish with 18 points. It's hard to imagine that the Pelicans out-rebound the Suns by 20 boards in Game 2, but it's clear that the 29-year-old is having his way on the interior.

Thu Apr 7 202214:25Jonas Valanciunas Set To Play On Thursday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) is set to suit up for Thursday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Valanciunas sat out Tuesday's game due to a sore right ankle. Willy Hernangomez filled his spot in the starting five for the contest and wound up racking up 12 points and 12 boards over 26 minutes. Hernangomez will shift back to having a minimal bench role upon Valanciunas's return. Over 72 games on the year, Valanciunas is averaging 17.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while sporting a sturdy 54.3% field goal percentage.

Wed Apr 6 202218:59Jonas Valanciunas Draws Questionable Tag For Thursday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) has been deemed questionable to suit up for Thursday's game vs. Portland due to a sore right ankle. Willy Hernangomez stepped into the starting five Tuesday in place of Valanciunas and logged a double-double, while Jaxson Hayes tied for the team lead with 23 points; an absence from Valanciunas would likely thrust the duo back into significant roles. The 29-year-old has been a beacon of consistency for New Orleans this year, snatching double-digit rebounds in 52 of his 72 outings. The Blazers' interior defense has been lax since their new-look frontcourt took over, so Valanciunas could be in line for some sizable DFS appeal if he ultimately receives the green light.

Tue Apr 5 202221:12Jonas Valanciunas Will Miss Tuesday’s Contest
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Kings due to a sore right ankle. The absence will mark Valanciunas' first since Jan. 29, and paves the way for Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes to play elevated roles in the frontcourt. Valanciunas enjoyed a 10-game streak of recording a double-double prior to having it snapped in his previous outing. The big man is on pace to set a new career high with 17.9 PPG, while also averaging a double-double for the third consecutive campaign. His next chance to take the floor comes Thursday vs. Portland.

Wed Mar 30 202210:10Jonas Valanciunas Earns Questionable Tag For Wednesday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (foot) has been deemed questionable to play in Wednesday's game vs. Portland due to a sore right foot. Valanciunas is currently enjoying a stretch of eight consecutive double-doubles, in which he has averaged 21 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest. An absence in the frontcourt would pave the way for Willy Hernangomez to see a larger minutes share, while Jaxson Hayes would take on larger rebounding duties as well. On pace to average a double-double for the third consecutive season and to set a new career high in scoring (18.1 PPG), Valanciunas remains one of the most consistent DFS entities when cleared to suit up.

Sun Mar 27 202216:50Jonas Valanciunas Could Sit Versus Lakers
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. That means, Jaxson Hayes and Willy Hernangomez should be in for big nights on Sunday. Larry Nance Jr. (knee) is tagged as doubtful, so Hayes and Hernangomez should get heavy minutes. Both players should have strong streaming appeal, assuming Valanciunas sits out. Fantasy managers will have to check back closer to tip-off for more information.

Mon Mar 14 202210:21Jonas Valanciunas Drops 32 Points In Just 27 Minutes Sunday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas served as his team's offensive focal point during Sunday's win over the Rockets and used that added appeal to deliver one of his strongest performances of the season. Valanciunas only logged 27 minutes primarily due to New Orleans' late lead, but he was able to compile 32 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists during his time on the court. With C.J. McCollum (health and safety protocols) and Brandon Ingram (hamstring) down for the time being, Valanciunas should remain option No. 1 for a Pelicans unit looking to snag a Play-in Tournament spot. On pace to average a double-double for a third consecutive year, Valanciunas' 17.9 PPG would set a new career high during his first year with the Pels.

Fri Jan 28 202218:54Brandon Ingram, Jonas Valanciunas Inactive On Friday
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram (ankle) and center Jonas Valanciunas (illness) have been ruled out for Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets. Ingram will miss his third game in a row here as he continues to deal with a right ankle sprain. Valanciunas will miss his second game in a row due to a non-COVID related illness. Willy Hernangomez is expected to start at center. He'll have strong streaming appeal and sneaky DFS value after his solid outing on Thursday. Herbert Jones and Nickeil Alexander-Walker will continue to have increased roles with Ingram out. Both are possible streaming choices or DFS candidates for Friday's slate.

Fri Jan 28 202217:52Jonas Valanciunas Could Sit Out Friday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (illness) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets. He sat out the last contest for rest purposes and it's worth noting he's dealing with a non-COVID related illness. Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes should be asked to soak up the minutes, assuming Valanciunas is unable to play. Hernangomez played well as the starter during their last contest. He is worth a look as a streaming option, assuming he gets another start here. Fantasy managers will have to check back closer to game-time for more information.

Tue Jan 25 202217:41Jonas Valanciunas, Devonte' Graham Ruled Out Tuesday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (rest) and point guard Devonte' Graham (ankle) will miss Tuesday's game vs. Philadelphia. The Pelicans have responded to the rescheduled contest by choosing to rest their big man on the second leg of a back-to-back, paving the way for Jaxson Hayes and Willy Hernangomez to play larger frontcourt roles. Without Graham running the show offensively, Jose Alvarado stands to see significant DFS interest, particularly due to his extremely low price tag. Brandon Ingram (ankle) and Josh Hart (ankle) are out as well, meaning Nickeil Alexander-Walker, ... [More]

Mon Jan 3 202219:03Jonas Valanciunas Available On Monday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas will be available for Monday's game against the Utah Jazz. He missed Saturday's game, but will return here after clearing the league's health and safety protocols. His return will shift Willy Hernangomez back to the bench where he will lose most of his streaming appeal. Jaxson Hayes will take a hit in value as well, so both players can be dropped in most formats now. Fantasy managers should make sure Valanciunas is back in their lineups for Monday.

Wed Dec 29 202108:25Jonas Valanciunas Returns To Lineup With A Double-Double
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas was back from illness on Tuesday, grabbing a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 108-104 win over Cleveland. His shooting didn't go well, as he finished with a 4-for-11 record from the field, but Valanciunas managed to nail one shot from deep and went 6-for-8 at the foul line. He logged 30 minutes and finished things off with two assists, one block and four turnovers. It's been a great year in New Orleans for Valanciunas, as he's failed to hit double-double numbers only eight times this season. He gets a nasty matchup next against Milwaukee, but Valanciunas performed very well against the defending champions in this season's first meeting, going for 24 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in an overtime win.

Tue Dec 28 202120:01Jonas Valanciunas Returns On Tuesday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (illness) is back in the starting five for Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has missed each of the last two games due to a non-COVID related illness. His return shifts Willy Hernangomez back to the bench. He won't have much streaming appeal here, so he can be dropped in most formats. Fantasy managers should make sure that Valanciunas is back in their lineups for Tuesday. It doesn't sound like he'll be limited, so managers should expect him fully available for this contest.

Mon Dec 27 202120:01Jonas Valanciunas Tagged As Probable For Tuesday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (illness) is listed as probable for Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has missed each of the last two games due to a non-COVID related illness. Willy Hernangomez has been a strong streaming option while Valanciunas has been sidelined. However, that could come to an end on Tuesday night. Hernangomez wouldn't been an appealing streaming option off the bench. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Tuesday for another update.

Sun Dec 26 202118:12Jonas Valanciunas Remains Out On Sunday
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (illness) will sit a second consecutive game on Sunday against the Thunder. He's battling a non-COVID illness, which has given Willy Hernangomez a chance to shine. He recorded his first start of the season on Thursday against Orlando and dominated the glass with 16 rebounds. It was a miserable outing offensively, though, as the Spaniard managed only three points on 1-for-11 shooting. Oklahoma City also has a pretty good defensive record against opposing centers, but Hernangomez should still be an attractive piece for fantasy managers on Sunday.

Wed Dec 22 202120:20Jonas Valanciunas Will Miss Thursday’s Contest
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (illness) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Orlando due to an illness. The absence from Valanciunas will mark his first of the season, making how head coach Willie Green divvies up his workload unclear. That being said, Willy Hernangomez stands to see sizable DFS appeal, as he is the likeliest option to see the lion's share of minutes at the five. Additionally, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, and Herbert Jones are all in line to see increased duties on the glass without Valanciunas and his 12 boards per game average available. Enjoying a career best offensive season thus far, Valanciunas has propelled himself into a top fantasy tier no matter the opposition. His next chance at taking the floor comes Sunday vs. the Thunder.

Thu Dec 9 202109:23Jonas Valanciunas Collects 27 Points, 11 Rebounds
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas couldn't save his team from a 120-114 overtime loss against Denver on Wednesday, but he personally had a great game with a team-high 27 points on 12-for-21 shooting and 11 rebounds. He also notched three assists with three rebounds and three turnovers in 39 minutes. Valanciunas finally got back on track from downtown as well, shooting 1-for-2 after going 0-for-7 in his first three December outings. He's surprisingly been one of the better three-point shooters in the league this season, hitting over 46 percent from deep. Valanciunas will be back on the court Friday night against a Detroit team that's allowing opponents to shoot 38.1 percent from deep, so all Pelicans sharpshooters find themselves in a great spot to perform.

Tue Nov 30 202109:41Jonas Valanciunas Explodes With Seven Triples, 39 Points
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas went full Stephen Curry against the Clippers on Monday, shooting 7-for-8 from downtown en route to a career-high 39 points in a 123-104 win. He notched 29 of his points in the first half and finished with 15-for-24 shooting overall, adding 15 rebounds to his line with three assists and two steals. Valanciunas had been fairly quiet in recent games and this was a spectacular way to end a slump. He could go on to have a couple of more huge games this week, with the Pelicans facing Dallas twice in three days. The Mavericks own the worst defensive record in the league against opposing centers, and they are also among the league's worst rebounding sides.

Sat Nov 20 202121:34Jonas Valanciunas Records 13th Double-Double Of The Year
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas came through with another double-double on Saturday, scoring 19 points and picking up 13 rebounds in a big defeat to Indiana. He produced a pair of assists as well and recorded one block with 8-for-15 shooting. Valanciunas has been eating glass for dinner all season and leads the league with 13 double-doubles. He's having a great campaign personally, but the team simply can't get anything going. Valanciunas should routinely collect another double-double in the next matchup against Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves, who are allowing the second-most rebounds per 48 minutes to centers this season.
