The Portland Trail Blazers are matching the three year, $33 million offer sheet for restricted free agent Matisse Thybulle. The Blazers didn't waste much time matching the offer sheet offered by the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. The 26-year-old saw an expanded role with the Blazers after being acquired in February. He averaged 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 27.7 minutes per game in 22 games with the Blazers. Thybulle is a solid contributor on defense and is getting better on the offensive side of the ball. It's not surprising to see the Blazers match the offer sheet here.

The 25-year-old will hope to get a fresh start after playing a very marginal role this season for the team that drafted him in 2019. Thybulle has previously been highly valued as a defensive specialist on the team, but he has averaged a career-low 12.1 minutes in 2022-23. Portland has just departed with a starter in Josh Hart and Thybulle will have a chance to earn himself a much bigger role at his new club, which would greatly boost his fantasy appeal.

When he first suffered the ankle injury, it didn't seem like it would hold him out too long. The pain has been lingering and the Sixers will let him get some rest. Thybulle was only relevant in very deep leagues. Danuel House Jr. may get a little more time while he's out, but his absence won't significantly boost anyone.

Moving Thybulle could help free up cap space and a rotation spot for a more well-rounded veteran to land in Philly. While Thybulle has been a stud on the defensive end, he's also been an offensive liability as he averaged just 5.7 points over 25.5 minutes per game last year.

Thybulle has been a menace on the defensive end of the floor this year, averaging 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. His offense is still a work in progress as he's only averaging 5.7 points per game over 26.3 minutes per contest. On the bright side, his field goal percentage is up from 42% last year to 48.7% this year.

His fantasy value comes almost exclusively on the defensive end as he's averaging 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.

Regardless, fantasy managers can get him back in their lineups for Tuesday's slate.
