Sat Jul 1 202310:32Josh Richardson Returns To Miami
Josh Richardson will be back in Miami Heat colors next season after striking a two-year deal with the team. He will be paid the veteran minimum and the second year on the contract is a player option. The Heat drafted Richardson in the second round back in 2015, and he had a productive four-year spell with the team before getting traded to Philadelphia in a deal that landed the Heat Jimmy Butler. Richardson has since then bounced around multiple teams, and he suited up for San Antonio and New Orleans last season, averaging 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists mainly as a bench contributor. He looks set to play a significant role in Miami in 2023-24, with Max Strus skipping town and the team losing a couple of other rotational pieces compared to last season.

Fri Mar 3 202315:41Josh Richardson Will Be Sidelined On Friday
New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Richardson (personal) popped up on the injury report late on Friday afternoon and has been ruled out of the team's game against the Golden State Warriors. He'll be sidelined due to personal reasons, but this is just his second game missed since joining the team. Hopefully, this is just a one-off, but Richardson's value has still gone up and down just like it did with San Antonio. On Friday, Trey Murphy III will see a lot of minutes in Richardson's absence.

Wed Mar 1 202321:39Josh Richardson Active For Wednesday
New Orleans Pelicans forward Josh Richardson (quad) is active for Wednesday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The veteran forward was considered questionable coming into this game due to a quad contusion. The 29-year-old hasn't done much on the offensive side lately, but has made up for it on defense. He'll be in the starting five for Wednesday's game, which means Trey Murphy III will come off the bench. Fantasy managers should adjust their fantasy lineups accordingly with Richardson active.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Thu Feb 9 202321:42Josh Richardson Traded To New Orleans
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Pelicans acquired guard Josh Richardson on Thursday. In return, San Antonio will receive Devonte' Graham and four second-round picks. The 29-year-old has averaged 12.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals throughout his career, making stops in Miami, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, and San Antonio. He's also a career 36.5% shooter, an area that needs improvement for the Pelicans. Richardson will likely have a routine role from the bench, although he could get some starts for the oft-injured Brandon Ingram at some point moving ahead.

Wed Feb 1 202315:20Josh Richardson Expected To Return Wednesday
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Josh Richardson (knee) is on track to end a three-game absence in Wednesday's matchup against Sacramento. He's been troubled by a sore left knee, but the team has listed Richardson as probable for the game, which is a strong indication that he will be back. The veteran had a solid January, averaging 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The Spurs rotation tends to be very unpredictable, but it looks like Richardson has carved out a good role for himself and should see plenty of minutes in his return on Wednesday.

Thu Jan 26 202321:48Josh Richardson Won't Suit Up On Thursday
San Antonio Spurs forward Josh Richardson (knee) has been downgraded to out for Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The veteran forward is dealing with right knee soreness, which will force him to miss at least this game. This isn't great timing with Jeremy Sochan (quad) also sidelined. That means, Doug McDermott and Malaki Branham should see increased playing time. Both players could be possible deep league streaming options with the Spurs shorthanded on Thursday.

Mon Jan 9 202318:45Josh Richardson To Play Against Grizzlies
San Antonio Spurs guard Josh Richardson (personal) is available for Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The veteran guard was considered questionable earlier in the day due to an undisclosed reason. He should play a significant role in the rotation with Devin Vassell (knee) and Keldon Johnson (hamstring) ruled out for this game. Richardson has been playing well lately with the Spurs being shorthanded. He should be a strong streaming option for Monday's slate. The 29-year-old should be able to hold decent value until Vassell is able to get back on the court.

Fri Jan 6 202319:08Josh Richardson Available On Friday
San Antonio Spurs forward Josh Richardson (quad) is available for Friday's game against the Detroit Pistons. He was listed as questionable coming into this game due to a quad contusion. It sounds like Richardson is good to go and should see an increased role going forward with Devin Vassell (knee) out indefinitely. Both Richardson and Keita Bates-Diop (illness) are worth streaming in deep leagues for Friday. The Spurs are starting Romeo Langford in the place of Vassell. He'll probably play close to 30 minutes, so he could be a viable streaming option.

Thu Jan 5 202319:54Josh Richardson Questionable For Friday
San Antonio Spurs forward Josh Richardson (quad) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Detroit Pistons. Normally, Richardson's status doesn't have a huge impact on the rotation. However, Devin Vassell (knee) is set to undergo surgery and is likely to miss significant time. Richardson has been playing more minutes lately and should have a consistent role going forward. That being said, Richardson should be rostered in most fantasy formats right now. His absence would mean more minutes for Malaki Branham and Romeo Langford. Between the two, Langford is the better streaming choice, but he'd only be worth looking at if Richardson is out.

Fri Dec 16 202217:06Josh Richardson Will Miss Saturday’s Contest
San Antonio Spurs point/shooting guard Josh Richardson (personal) has been ruled out for Saturday's game vs. Miami due to personal reasons. Richardson reclaimed a starting gig in his last outing, nabbing a season-high four steals. The veteran has averaged 10.7 PPG primarily off the bench this year, knocking down just shy of two triples per outing. His absence -- along with that of Blake Wesley's (G League) -- paves the way for Tre Jones to see a significant workload as the team's primary ballhandler. As absences mount for the Spurs, Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell continue to see their offensive upsides rise as well. Richardson's next chance to suit up comes Monday against the Rockets.

Thu Dec 8 202215:30Josh Richardson Probable For Thursday's Matchup
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Josh Richardson (ankle) is regarded as probable for Thursday's meeting with the Rockets. He's been sidelined for the last six games with a right ankle sprain, but it looks like Richardson will be able to make his comeback Thursday night. We could end up seeing a lot of him as well, with Devin Vassell (knee) likely to miss the game. Richardson has the ability to help out fantasy managers in multiple areas, and he's been averaging 10.2 points and 2.2 rebounds this season in 22.8 minutes with 3.0 assists and 0.7 steals.

Wed Dec 7 202217:33Josh Richardson, Doug McDermott Likely To Return Thursday
San Antonio Spurs point/shooting guard Josh Richardson (ankle) and small/power forward Doug McDermott (ankle) have both been deemed probable to suit up for Thursday's game against Houston, marking their returns from respective right ankle sprains. Richardson has missed the previous six contests, while McDermott has been down for a pair. Both players have averaged in double figures of scoring thus far in 2022-23, giving the team some added offensive thump, particularly if Devin Vassell (knee) is unable to give it a go. Fantasy managers will want to check back prior to tip-off to confirm the status of all relevant Spurs.

Sun Dec 4 202214:53Doug McDermott, Josh Richardson Out On Sunday
San Antonio Spurs forwards Doug McDermott (ankle) and Josh Richardson (ankle) have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Phoenix Suns. McDermott will miss his second straight game after suffering an ankle injury on November 30th. Richardson has missed the last six games and the rebuilding Spurs are in no rush to bring him back to the court. Their absence should open up playing time for Romeo Langford (back) and Isaiah Roby for Sunday's contest. Both players are more of deep league streamers, but can still offer some value.

Fri Dec 2 202217:03Josh Richardson, Doug McDermott Will Miss Friday’s Contest
San Antonio Spurs point/shooting guard Josh Richardson (ankle) and small/power forward Doug McDermott (ankle) have been ruled out for Friday's game against the Pelicans with respective ankle ailments. Richardson's absence will mark his fifth in a row, while McDermott has been unable to recover from the injury he sustained Wednesday. The Spurs figure to be significantly short-handed without the duo, paving the way for Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson and Tre Jones to all carry significantly elevated workloads, along with Isaiah Roby and Keita Bates-Diop getting added frontcourt minutes. The next chance for Richardson and McDermott to return comes Sunday vs. Phoenix.

Sat Nov 26 202215:19Josh Richardson Remains Out Versus The Lakers
San Antonio Spurs guard Josh Richardson (ankle) won't play on Saturday versus the Lakers, marking his third-straight absence because of a sprained ankle. Keita Bates-Diop (ankle) is also out, so Romeo Langford, Zach Collins, and Malaki Branham should see the most work from off the bench. However, none of the three are reliable fantasy producers.

Wed Nov 23 202217:28Josh Richardson Won't Play Against New Orleans
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Josh Richardson (ankle) will miss Wednesday's contest against New Orleans. His right ankle is sore and Richardson was previously already listed as doubtful for the game. He will be out of the lineup for the second time this season. In Richardson, the Spurs lose a guy who has averaged nearly 23 minutes per game this season and his minutes should be mainly soaked in by Doug McDermott and Keita Bates-Diop. Romeo Langford could also get a nice amount of action after clearing health and safety protocols, although he hasn't really managed to get anything going this season, even as a starter in a pair of games.

Tue Nov 1 202219:28Josh Richardson Will Play And Likely Start Wednesday
San Antonio Spurs guard Josh Richardson (back) will play Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors. Richardson missed one game with a sore back, but seems to have recovered in time for Wednesday. The Spurs are decimated right now as Devin Vassell (knee) continues to sit with knee soreness. Richardson will likely reclaim his starting spot and could be worth a look as a DFS piece or a streamer for season-long leagues. Keep in mind Wednesday is a high-volume day and you might not have a starting spot open for streaming.

Tue Oct 11 202221:34Josh Richardson Should Be Fine For Season Opener
San Antonio Spurs forward Josh Richardson (knee) will be ready in time for the regular season, according to head coach Gregg Popovich. Richardson injured his knee during Saturday's preseason contest. He was held out of Tuesday's exhibition contest as a precaution. Although, it sounds like the veteran forward should be healthy in time for the season opener. Richardson is expected to have a role off the bench in San Antonio. However, this team is rebuilding, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect too much from Richardson this season.

Sun Mar 20 202219:47Josh Richardson Available Against Golden State
San Antonio Spurs forward Josh Richardson (calf) will play against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. Richardson missed just one game because of left calf tightness, and he figures to slide back into the starting lineup. The veteran has an elevated outlook on the fantasy end, primarily since the Spurs will be without Keita Bates-Diop (back), Romeo Langford (hamstring), Doug McDermott (ankle), and Lonnie Walker IV (back).
