Josh Richardson will be back in Miami Heat colors next season after striking a two-year deal with the team. He will be paid the veteran minimum and the second year on the contract is a player option. The Heat drafted Richardson in the second round back in 2015, and he had a productive four-year spell with the team before getting traded to Philadelphia in a deal that landed the Heat Jimmy Butler. Richardson has since then bounced around multiple teams, and he suited up for San Antonio and New Orleans last season, averaging 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists mainly as a bench contributor. He looks set to play a significant role in Miami in 2023-24, with Max Strus skipping town and the team losing a couple of other rotational pieces compared to last season.

The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. These are very much in order of how much they matter. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Pelicans acquired guard Josh Richardson on Thursday. In return, San Antonio will receive Devonte' Graham and four second-round picks. The 29-year-old has averaged 12.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals throughout his career, making stops in Miami, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, and San Antonio. He's also a career 36.5% shooter, an area that needs improvement for the Pelicans. Richardson will likely have a routine role from the bench, although he could get some starts for the oft-injured Brandon Ingram at some point moving ahead.
