Thu Dec 9 202109:55Kyle Kuzma Caps Off Great Performance With A Buzzer-BeaterKyle KuzmaSFWizardsGeoff
Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma finished off a 26-point effort with a game-winning triple in Wednesday's 119-116 overtime victory against Detroit. He won it for the Wizards with just 0.6 left in the extra frame, hitting his fourth triple of the night. Kuzma finished 4-for-10 from downtown and shot 8-for-18 overall with a 6-for-7 effort at the charity stripe. His line included seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and three turnovers. The former Laker has been slumping this month, but this should give him a huge boost. Kuzma will tackle the Jazz next, which is a pretty tough matchup for the 26-year-old, as Utah is a very strong defensive team.

Thu Dec 9 202109:48Norman Powell Scores Game-High 26 PointsNorman PowellSFClippersTeam 6
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Norman Powell managed to lead all scorers with 26 points in Wednesday's loss to the Warriors, but he got there with poor 8-for-23 shooting. The 28-year-old hit just one of his seven attempts from downtown and saved his scoring numbers with a 9-for-11 performance at the foul line. Powell tallied five assists as well with four turnovers and one steal. He's now scored 55 points in two games with Damian Lillard (abdomen) and C.J. McCollum (lung) out. The latter is ruled out indefinitely, which gives Powell more responsibility on offense, but he has to improve his efficiency. The former Raptor is shooting a miserable 33.8 percent this month.

Thu Dec 9 202109:43Jusuf Nurkic Posts A 12-13-6 Line Against The WarriorsJusuf NurkicCTrailblazersFree Agent
Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic notched 12 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in 28 minutes before fouling out in Wednesday's loss to Golden State. This was a nice line from the Bosnian, but he had a rough 5-for-14 shooting night and gave away the ball five times. Nurkic has been a lot more involved on offense lately, with Damian Lillard (abdomen) and C.J. McCollum (lung) unavailable. Lillard looks to be on track to return on Sunday against Minnesota, but McCollum has been ruled out indefinitely, so Nurkic has to work on his shooting to be ready for more shots. Sunday's matchup is a pretty good one for him as well, with Minnesota giving up 18.3 rebounds per 48 minutes to centers and allowing them to shoot 55.3 percent from the field.

Thu Dec 9 202109:36Stephen Curry Sinks Six Triples Against PortlandStephen CurryPGWarriorsGeoff
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry continued to close in on the league's three-pointers record on Wednesday, hitting 6-for-17 from downtown during a 22-point performance in a 104-94 win against Portland. He finished 8-for-19 overall from the field and completed his night at the office with two rebounds, two assists, one steal and four turnovers. Curry now needs only 10 more makes from deep to break Ray Allen's record of 2,973 regular-season threes. He's had a few performances with nine triples this season, so hitting the milestone in Saturday's game against Philadelphia isn't out of the question. However, it's much more likely that the special night comes during next week's four-game slate.

Thu Dec 9 202109:23Jonas Valanciunas Collects 27 Points, 11 ReboundsJonas ValanciunasCPelicansTeam 8
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas couldn't save his team from a 120-114 overtime loss against Denver on Wednesday, but he personally had a great game with a team-high 27 points on 12-for-21 shooting and 11 rebounds. He also notched three assists with three rebounds and three turnovers in 39 minutes. Valanciunas finally got back on track from downtown as well, shooting 1-for-2 after going 0-for-7 in his first three December outings. He's surprisingly been one of the better three-point shooters in the league this season, hitting over 46 percent from deep. Valanciunas will be back on the court Friday night against a Detroit team that's allowing opponents to shoot 38.1 percent from deep, so all Pelicans sharpshooters find themselves in a great spot to perform.

Thu Dec 9 202109:17Will Barton Notches 20 Points Against New OrleansWill BartonSGNuggetsFree Agent
Denver Nuggets guard/forward Will Barton had a difficult shooting night against New Orleans on Wednesday but still managed to rack up 20 points in an overtime win. The 30-year-old shot a poor 7-for-18 from the field but made some proper damage from outside, going 4-for-7 with the three-ball. Barton dished out six assists with three turnovers and capped off his line with three rebounds, one steal and one block. His shooting had been off in every game this month, so Barton is currently struggling to find his rhythm, but he always finds ways to be useful for the team. He will finish the week with a couple of games against the Spurs, who are a mediocre defensive team, so maybe this will help Barton to get back to efficient scoring.

Thu Dec 9 202109:11Nikola Jokic Gets Close To A 40-Point Triple-DoubleNikola JokicCNuggetsDr. A.
Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic scored a season-high 39 points and tallied 11 rebounds and 11 assists in Wednesday's 120-114 overtime win against New Orleans. He missed just six of 23 shots all night and ended up scoring 11 of the team's 15 points in overtime. The MVP did MVP things here, and he's now recorded back-to-back triple-doubles. Jokic will complete the week with a pair of games against the Spurs in a favorable matchup. San Antonio gives up 23 points and 16.7 rebounds per 48 minutes to centers this season, which are some of the worst numbers in the league. Jokic has already crushed them once this term, going for a 32-16-7 line with 73.7 percent shooting.

Thu Dec 9 202109:03Karl-Anthony Towns Shoots Very Well Against JazzKarl-Anthony TownsCTimberwolvesTeam 7
Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns had a very nice shooting night against Utah on Wednesday, hitting 7-for-11 from the field and 2-for-4 from downtown to finish with 22 points. He went 6-for-8 at the line and recorded seven rebounds and five assists with one block and four turnovers. Towns enjoyed an efficient performance here, but the team got hammered in the second half, so he can't be happy about the night. Utah struggles to slow down opposing centers, and Towns will get a couple of more juicy matchups this week against Cleveland and Portland. The Cavaliers are allowing centers to hit nearly 55 percent of their shots against them and the Blazers have done even worse, allowing centers to shoot 59.8 percent.

Thu Dec 9 202108:54Bojan Bogdanovic Comes Through With 21 Points WednesdayBojan BogdanovicSFJazzTeam 5
Utah Jazz small forward Bojan Bogdanovic somehow ended up with a minus-six rating in Wednesday's blowout win over Minnesota, despite scoring 21 points on a very good 8-for-14 shooting while having no turnovers in 28 minutes of action. He shot 4-for-9 from three-point range and pulled down five boards. The Croatian sniper is hitting a sizzling 48 percent from deep this month. The whole team had a great night from downtown as well on Wednesday, going 25-for-54. Utah will now face the Sixers, against whom Bogdanovic scored a season-high 27 points on Nov. 16, so it looks like a favorable matchup for him.

Thu Dec 9 202108:46Donovan Mitchell Continues His Great Scoring RunDonovan MitchellSGJazzTeam 3
Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell made scoring look easy once more in Wednesday's win over Minnesota, shooting 14-for-23 from the field en route to a game-high 36 points. Utah had an amazing night from downtown with 25 made triples, and Mitchell contributed to it with a 5-for-12 effort. He also bagged five rebounds and two assists with one block and four turnovers. The Jazz star has now racked up 30-plus points in four straight contests, and with a couple of mediocre teams in Philadelphia and Washington welcoming him next, Mitchell has a very good opportunity to take his hot streak into next week.

Thu Dec 9 202108:41Jaren Jackson Jr. Leads Memphis With 26 PointsJaren JacksonPFGrizzliesFree Agent
Memphis Grizzlies power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. scored a team-high 26 points on 9-for-19 shooting in Wednesday's loss to Dallas, finishing 2-for-7 from downtown and 6-for-8 at the foul line. He pulled down seven rebounds and tallied one assist, one steal and two blocks with three turnovers in 34 minutes. Jaren Jackson Jr. is having a nice season on the defensive end with a career-high two blocks per game, and he's also hit his stride offensively in recent outings, going for 20-plus points three times in five games. He'll head back out on Thursday in a tough matchup against the Lakers. The 22-year-old shot just 3-for-12 from the field and settled for 12 points in this season's first head-to-head battle between the two sides.

Thu Dec 9 202108:35Reggie Bullock Hits Four Triples During 15-Point EffortReggie BullockSFMavericksTeam 4
Dallas Mavericks guard/forward Reggie Bullock had a good night with 15 points against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, hitting 4-for-6 from downtown and 5-for-7 overall from the field in a 104-96 win. He had zero turnovers in 30 minutes and collected two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block. Bullock has found his way into the starting five, and he generally doesn't get a lot of scoring opportunities on a nightly basis. 28 percent shooting from downtown has also greatly affected his productivity this season. This marks only the fifth 10-point outing for Bullock in 2021-22, so he's an unreliable fantasy piece for managers.

Thu Dec 9 202108:22Luka Doncic Leads Dallas Past MemphisLuka DoncicPGMavericksTeam 6
Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic ran the show against Memphis on Wednesday, finishing a 104-96 victory with 26 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and one steal. He shot 10-for-19 from the field and 5-for-10 from downtown. Doncic also had nine turnovers, but he gave away the ball just once in his previous outing, so we can forgive him that. Luka was questionable for the game with a bum ankle but went on to log a game-high 36 minutes, which points to the fact that he isn't too badly hurt. Doncic will try to rock the Pacers next on Friday. He's averaging 25.8 points this month with seven rebounds and 9.3 assists.

Thu Dec 9 202108:14James Harden Can't Get Shots To Drop In HoustonJames HardenPGNetsGeoff
Brooklyn Nets guard James Harden used to dominate at the Toyota Center, but he struggled mightily there as a visiting player on Wednesday, shooting only 4-for-16 from the field in a 114-104 loss to the Rockets. He was very busy with the three-ball, finishing 3-for-12, and only a 14-for-16 effort at the charity stripe helped Harden to have a decent night with 25 points. He added 11 rebounds and eight assists to his tally with two steals and eight turnovers in 39 minutes. Brooklyn finished a back-to-back set here, so it wasn't easy for Harden, especially with Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge not on the court to help share the load. The Beard is shooting just 32.8 percent from the field and 25 percent from downtown this month ahead of Friday's clash with the Hawks.

Thu Dec 9 202108:07Christian Wood Posts A Double-Double With Thee BlocksChristian WoodCRocketsTeam 6
Houston Rockets center Christian Wood shot just 5-for-16 from the field against Brooklyn on Wednesday, but he tallied a solid 12-point, 15-rebound double-double and also helped his side to victory with three blocks. Five of Wood's misses came with six attempts from downtown. He completed his line with three assists, one steal and one turnover in 34 minutes. Wood has notched five double-doubles during Houston's seven-game winning streak. He had a horrible night from downtown against the Nets, but the 26-year-old is actually shooting 42 percent from deep this month, and he'll be playing with something to prove next time out, as Houston hosts Wood's former team, the Bucks.

Thu Dec 9 202108:01Eric Gordon Racks Up 21 Points Before Getting EjectedEric GordonSGRocketsFree Agent
Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon logged a third consecutive 20-point outing in Wednesday's 114-104 win over Brooklyn, but his night ended early after he picked up a second technical foul in the middle of the final quarter. He shot 8-for-12 from the field with a 2-for-4 record from downtown and hit all three of his free throws. Gordon picked up two rebounds and two assists with one block and four turnovers in 28 minutes. The awful Rockets have now somehow won seven straight games. Gordon has picked up very good momentum during the run, and he'll try to keep it up against the Bucks on Friday. Milwaukee tends to give up a lot of three-pointers, so it's a matchup that should suit the veteran sniper.

Wed Dec 8 202122:22Joel Embiid Scores Game-High 32 Points In WinJoel EmbiidC76ersTeam 3
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid scored a game-high 32 points during a 110-106 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. The 27-year-old went 8-for-17 from the field, including 1-for-2 behind the arc, and 15-for-19 from the line. The Kansas product also poured in eight rebounds, four assists, and a steal across 33 minutes. The Cameroon native has averaged over 34 points, 11 boards, and five assists over the past three games, and has been rounding into form following a slow start to the season. Once the positive regression hits for the percentages, Embiid will be back to performing like the first-round caliber player he is.

Bridges ascension into the perfect running mate for point guard LaMelo Ball has been a dream come true for the Hornets and fantasy managers.

Wed Dec 8 202122:19Gordon Hayward Scores Season-High 31 Points In LossGordon HaywardSFHornetsTeam 6
Charlotte Hornets small forward Gordon Hayward poured in a season-high 31 points during a 110-106 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. The Butler product shot 10-for-18 from the field, including 2-for-5 behind the arc, and 9-for-10 from the line. The 31-year-old also posted five boards, seven assists, a block, and a steal across 41 minutes. Hayward has assumed playmaking and alpha responsibilities with guards LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier in the league's health and safety protocols, boosting his value over the past week. On the season, Hayward is averaging over 17.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 triples per game on 44.6% shooting from the field. His value will take a small dip when the pair returns but should enjoy an uptick in usage in the meantime.

The fit between rookie big man Evan Mobley and Allen has been a boon for fantasy managers, as both players have been terrific to start the young season. Allen is in the midst of his best season as a pro, averaging a career-best 17.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.2 stocks while shooting 71.0% from the field.
