LeBron James Injury Update

James injured his right foot during the third quarter of Sunday's comeback win over the Dallas Mavericks. It was a tense few seconds after the multi-time MVP clutched his foot after suffering what was deemed a "non-contact injury." The concern grew to greater heights after he was overheard saying, "I heard a pop." Situations like this are never good, as many were concerned that an Achilles tear could be the culprit.https://twitter.com/FanDuelTV/status/1630602449227595777?s=20Yet, after James gathered himself, he tightened his shoe and finished the game, totaling 26 points, eight rebounds, one block, and one steal. Head coach Darvin Ham appeared optimistic while speaking postgame, stating the 38-year-old was "good."However, that couldn't be further from the case, with The Athletic's Shams Charania reporting that James would "miss an extended period of time" because of the foot injury. Charania later added that the all-time scoring leader would "require multiple opinions."https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1630363560051187712?s=20

LeBron James' Season Recap

Despite James' advanced NBA age, he's still productive. In 47 appearances, he's averaged 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. While his three-point percentage has regressed, that's never been his strong suit.James was also named an All-Star captain while recently passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA's all-time scoring leader.https://twitter.com/NBAonTNT/status/1623184801284104192?s=20That said, despite some high-level accomplishments, the year has been a rough one for the 2003 No. 1 overall pick. He's battled left foot soreness for nearly the entire season, so much so that he routinely carried some type of injury designation heading into almost all of his games over the last few months.... Thu Feb 16 202310:44Mikal Bridges Records New Career-High In Win Against Miami
Brooklyn Nets shooting guard/small forward Mikal Bridges set a new career-high of 45 points in Wednesday night's 116-105 win over the Miami Heat. In 36 minutes, Bridges shot 17-for-24 from the field, totaling 45 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks. In just his third game with the Nets after being dealt before the trade deadline by the Phoenix Suns, Bridges has tied Kevin Durant's career-high that he set with the Nets. Cameron Johnson also had a nice workload of 34 minutes, logging 18 points, one rebound, three assists and one block, all while shooting 6-for-14 from the field. Johnson is rostered in only 25.9 percent of ESPN leagues and should continue to be placed in the starting lineup. Consider Johnson a viable streaming option in all formats.

Sat Feb 11 202316:15Mikal Bridges Will Make Nets Debut Against Philly
Brooklyn Nets forward Mikal Bridges is available against the Philadelphia 76ers. The 26-year-old, who averaged a career-high 17.2 points in 56 games this season with the Suns, was acquired by Brooklyn in the blockbuster deal that sent Kevin Durant back to Phoenix. With that said, Jacque Vaughn hasn't revealed if Bridges will see a full workload, so he's a risky DFS option on Saturday. However, he should remain starting in all season-long formats.

Fri Feb 10 202321:18Mikal Bridges Questionable On Saturday
Brooklyn Nets forward Mikal Bridges is questionable for Saturday's meeting with Philadelphia. Bridges made his way to Brooklyn in the deal that sent superstar Kevin Durant to Phoenix. However, while he was spotted at Barclays on Thursday, he may not be ready to go. The 26-year-old has averaged a career-high 17.2 points this season, so he'll be expected to be a primary contributor for the Nets. With that said, if Bridges is available, he's a must-start. On the other hand, he's a risky DFS option, at least until he gets a game or two under his belt for his new team.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Thu Feb 9 202323:29Kevin Durant Traded to Suns - Fantasy Basketball Impact
As hectic as this year's NBA trade deadline has been, with 28 out of the 30 teams making at least one trade, early Thursday morning at 1:00 am, a blockbuster trade went down that not many expected. However, if you had read my previous article, you could have gotten a glimpse of the future thanks to my magic ball, as the first "potential trade" I wrote about was sending Kevin Durant to none other than the Pheonix Suns.Kevin Durant is undeniably a top-three player and arguably even the best in the NBA right now. It's not surprising to hear how stunned the NBA world was after seeing this trade, as the Suns sold a huge chunk of their future for the Nets superstar but were somehow saved from involving Deandre Ayton in the trade!Any average NBA fan knows how much of an impact future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant has on any team, but to emphasize just how much, check this out: The Suns went from odds of +1800 of winning the finals to +450 on Thursday morning after the huge trade, now only behind the Boston Celtics, who lead the race with their odds being +350.

Kevin Durant's Season Recap

Durant (knee) has been sidelined for over a month after getting hurt on January 8 against the Miami Heat and remains without a timetable to return to make his debut with the Suns. Before getting hurt, the 13-time All-Star was averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 1.8 blocks, and 36 minutes in 39 appearances this season.
Thu Feb 9 202308:00Mikal Bridges On His Way To Brooklyn
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Mikal Bridges is on his way to Brooklyn along with Jae Crowder, Cameron Johnson, four first-round picks and a 2028 first-round pick swap for Kevin Durant and T.J. Warren. Bridges has spent four and a half seasons in Phoenix since he was drafted in 2018 and now he'll move to a Brooklyn Nets team that is in a sort of limbo. The 26-year-old has been enjoying one of the most productive seasons of his career and his highest-ranked fantasy season as well. Currently, he sits at 36th in per-game value and 12th in total value for category formats.

Tue Feb 7 202307:15Kyrie Irving Traded To Dallas - Fantasy Basketball Impact
Without a doubt, Kyrie Irving is arguably one of the most naturally gifted players in the National Basketball Association. He's a fantastic ball-handler and can get to the rim with ease. However, the former Duke Blue Devil's career has been surrounded by controversy, ultimately impacting his ability to win an MVP.The NBA trade deadline kicked off with a bang when Irving, who had demanded a trade out of Brooklyn, was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. NBA fans and fantasy managers are left wondering how things will play out.To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NBA, make sure to favorite or bookmark the RotoBaller Fantasy Basketball Newspage, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy basketball mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news.

Kyrie Irving's Season Recap

Irving got suspended for an antisemitic social media post, keeping him out of the lineup for eight games. But since then, the 30-year-old stayed out of the limelight, so most had assumed he finally turned things around. He's played well all season, averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 40 appearances.https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1622324668047794177?s=20&t=NTffJ2tRvNpjAA7bddjYHQHe was also selected to the All-Star team for the eighth time in his career. However, things were apparently going too well, as Irving dropped a bombshell by requesting a trade. His wish was granted, as he was sent to Dallas in exchange for ... [More]
Tue Jan 31 202308:42Mikal Bridges Leads All Scorers With 29 Points
Phoenix Suns guard/forward Mikal Bridges was the leading scorer in Monday's 114-106 triumph over Toronto, shooting 12-for-29 from the field and 3-for-4 from outside en route to 29 points. He needed to make just one more attempt from deep to set his new season high. Through 39 minutes of action, Bridges was also able to contribute with three rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block. Bridges does it all for the Suns on a nightly basis, and he hasn't had any trouble stepping up when the team has needed more scoring from him during Chris Paul's and Devin Booker's (groin) absence. The Villanova product finished January with a run of seven 20-point games in nine outings.

Marcus Smart Injury Update

The Celtics were without Jayson Tatum for Saturday's meeting with Toronto, as the MVP candidate got the day off to deal with wrist soreness. Luckily, the C's recently got Jaylen Brown back from a three-game layoff, so the team at least had its No. 2 scoring option. Boston also had Marcus Smart, who is proficient on both ends of the floor.Unfortunately, the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year's evening didn't last long, as he exited in the first half after suffering a sprained right ankle. Smart has battled ankle injuries throughout his career, so fantasy managers are familiar with this.https://twitter.com/ChrisForsberg_/status/1616933981362028546?s=20&t=ADA6dM_t2muMcgq6cJRitwWhile X-ray results were encouraging, revealing no structural damage, he'll likely miss a game or two, possibly more. LaMelo Ball Injury Update

LaMelo Ball exited Monday's meeting with the Rockets with a sprained left ankle. This is an all too familiar ailment, as the 21-year-old injured it twice already this season. He missed the first 13 games of the 2022-23 campaign because of it before making his season debut on November 12 against Miami.https://twitter.com/HornetsOnBally/status/1615898994508546048?s=20&t=2ONmwk9cIuX1k5z8xOpxsQUnfortunately, the 2020 No. 3 overall pick was incapacitated again after stepping on a fan's foot during a matchup with Indiana just a few days later, keeping him sidelined for an additional 11 games. Donovan Mitchell Injury Update

Donovan Mitchell has been on a tear in his first season as a Cavalier, averaging a career-high 28.8 points per game. Phoenix Suns forward Mikal Bridges (knee) will be available for Sunday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. His games-played streak will live on as he has been officially cleared for this contest. Mon Mar 21 202210:23Mikal Bridges Drops 27 Points Across Career-High 50 Minutes
Rest wasn't exactly in Phoenix Suns small forward Mikal Bridges' vocabulary during Sunday's win over Sacramento. Bridges utilized overtime to hit the 50-minute threshold for the first time in his career, tying his season high with 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting in that span. Bridges is the rare player to have appeared in every contest for his team this season, as he is on pace for a new career best in scoring at 14.1 PPG. His steals (1.2 per contest) and field-goal percentage (52.8%) give added boost to his season-long viability. While he has traditionally been able to produce no matter the opponent, he faces a Minnesota team Wednesday that plays at the league's fastest pace, further elevating his DFS upside.
