Fri Nov 17 202316:19Cam Thomas To Be Re-Evaluated Next Week
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas (ankle) has been dealing with a more severe ankle sprain than originally thought as he was in a walking boot for a much longer time than anticipated. The young combo guard was the best scorer for the team before he went down with the sprain against the Clippers on November 8. Before missing action, he was averaging 26.9 points per game to go along with 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. While he remains sidelined, Lonnie Walker IV and Dennis Smith Jr. will continue seeing a bigger chunk of minutes off of the bench.

Thu Nov 9 202309:55Cam Thomas Set For MRI On Thursday
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Cam Thomas (ankle) will undergo an MRI scan on Thursday. The 22-year-old sprained his left ankle in Wednesday's win over the Clippers and could now be out for a bit. Thomas has exploded to the scene this season and sat among the league's top scorers before being forced to settle for 14 points Wednesday due to his injury. The Nets return to action Friday night in Boston, with Lonnie Walker IV and Dennis Smith Jr. poised for bigger roles if Thomas is out. Walker IV has already done very well off the Brooklyn bench this season and should receive a further boost with additional minutes.

Wed Nov 8 202321:21Cam Thomas Won't Return To Wednesday's Game
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The young guard suffered a sprained left ankle while in the middle of a solid performance. He won't return to this game and will finish with 14 points, two rebounds, and a block in 20 minutes. It's uncertain if this injury is going to cause him to miss more time. Lonnie Walker IV and Dennis Smith Jr. figure to see more playing time if Johnson misses an extended period of time. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update on Johnson's status.

Thu Oct 26 202310:00Cam Thomas Makes History With 36-Point Outing
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Cam Thomas had a spectacular season debut Wednesday versus Cleveland, producing 36 points off the bench in a 114-113 loss. It's the most points a player has scored in a season opener off the bench since the NBA started tracking starters in 1970-71. Thomas completed the historic outing with 13-for-21 shooting from the field, including a 2-for-5 effort from three-point range. He also did a good job in getting to the free-throw line, hitting eight of his 11 efforts. Thomas capped off his line with three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 25 minutes. The 22-year-old showed last season that he's a very gifted scorer when he became the NBA's youngest-ever player to register 40-plus points in three consecutive games, but he struggled to nail down a regular spot in the rotation. Wednesday's performance should be a big step towards making sure the story is different for Thomas in 2023-24.

Sat Aug 12 202309:50Cam Thomas Believes He Would Be A Scoring Machine As Starter
Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Cam Thomas has thrown out some bold words, claiming that he would score 25 points per game "easy" as a starter. "Ball in my hand? 25 25 no doubt, easy," Thomas told Zach Schumaker on his "The SchuZ Show" podcast. "And that's just me having confidence in my ability, knowing what I can bring every night." Thomas had his sophomore NBA campaign in 2022-23, scoring 10.6 points per game in 16.6 minutes. His work included an unworldly three-game run of 40-plus points. The LSU product looked incredible in these games, but he soon fell out of the rotation after that. A starter's role is currently only a dream for Thomas, but he sure knows where the basket is and can rack up points in a hurry if given the opportunity.

Sun Apr 9 202322:16Cam Thomas Gathers His Fourth 40-Point Game Of The Season
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas flashed his scoring prowess once more as he dropped his fourth 40-point game of the season in the final regular season contest. The 21-year-old registered 46 points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block on 16-for-29 shooting overall and 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. Thomas saw an initial increase in minutes when Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were traded, but hasn't been able to establish a consistent full-time role with the team just yet.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Thu Feb 9 202323:29Kevin Durant Traded to Suns - Fantasy Basketball Impact
As hectic as this year's NBA trade deadline has been, with 28 out of the 30 teams making at least one trade, early Thursday morning at 1:00 am, a blockbuster trade went down that not many expected. However, if you had read my previous article, you could have gotten a glimpse of the future thanks to my magic ball, as the first "potential trade" I wrote about was sending Kevin Durant to none other than the Pheonix Suns.Kevin Durant is undeniably a top-three player and arguably even the best in the NBA right now. It's not surprising to hear how stunned the NBA world was after seeing this trade, as the Suns sold a huge chunk of their future for the Nets superstar but were somehow saved from involving Deandre Ayton in the trade!Any average NBA fan knows how much of an impact future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant has on any team, but to emphasize just how much, check this out: The Suns went from odds of +1800 of winning the finals to +450 on Thursday morning after the huge trade, now only behind the Boston Celtics, who lead the race with their odds being +350.

Kevin Durant's Season Recap

Durant (knee) has been sidelined for over a month after getting hurt on January 8 against the Miami Heat and remains without a timetable to return to make his debut with the Suns. Before getting hurt, the 13-time All-Star was averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 1.8 blocks, and 36 minutes in 39 appearances this season.
Wed Feb 8 202310:26Cam Thomas Collects Third 40-Point Game In A Row
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been on a crazy hot streak since Kyrie Irving was traded as he put up his third consecutive 40-point game in a losing effort against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. Across 39 minutes, Thomas posted 43 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block while shooting 11-for-23 overall, 3-for-9 from three, and 18-for-20 from the charity stripe. Over the last three games, the 21-year-old is averaging 44.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Tue Feb 7 202308:54Cam Thomas Outstanding Again Monday
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Cam Thomas looked spectacular once more in Monday's matchup against the Clippers, following up a 44-point effort with 47 points on 15-for-29 shooting. The 21-year-old had a 7-for-11 record from deep and hit 10-for-11 at the foul line while collecting four rebounds with three assists in 39 minutes. Thomas nearly outscored Paul George and Kawhi Leonard on his own as the Clippers' superstars combined for 53 points. The LSU product has been on a nice run since the start of last week, but the addition of Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith from Dallas is set to complicate things for him.

Tue Feb 7 202307:15Kyrie Irving Traded To Dallas - Fantasy Basketball Impact
Without a doubt, Kyrie Irving is arguably one of the most naturally gifted players in the National Basketball Association. He's a fantastic ball-handler and can get to the rim with ease. However, the former Duke Blue Devil's career has been surrounded by controversy, ultimately impacting his ability to win an MVP.The NBA trade deadline kicked off with a bang when Irving, who had demanded a trade out of Brooklyn, was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. NBA fans and fantasy managers are left wondering how things will play out.To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NBA, make sure to favorite or bookmark the RotoBaller Fantasy Basketball Newspage, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy basketball mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news.

Kyrie Irving's Season Recap

Irving got suspended for an antisemitic social media post, keeping him out of the lineup for eight games. But since then, the 30-year-old stayed out of the limelight, so most had assumed he finally turned things around. He's played well all season, averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 40 appearances.https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1622324668047794177?s=20&t=NTffJ2tRvNpjAA7bddjYHQHe was also selected to the All-Star team for the eighth time in his career. However, things were apparently going too well, as Irving dropped a bombshell by requesting a trade. His wish was granted, as he was sent to Dallas in exchange for ... [More]
Mon Feb 6 202319:27Cam Thomas Moves Into Starting Five
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas will slide into the starting five for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. He'll take the spot of Seth Curry (groin) who continues to deal with a lingering injury. Thomas is coming off the best game of his career on Saturday. He dropped 44 points during their win over the Washington Wizards. Both Thomas and Edmond Sumner will see increased workloads with the Nets shorthanded. Although, their fantasy value will likely take a hit once newcomers Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith are ready to play.

Sun Feb 5 202307:45Cam Thomas Scores Career-High 44 Points
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Cam Thomas exploded for a career-high 44 points in 29 minutes off the bench Saturday against Washington, pushing the team to a 125-123 win. He had 19 points in the fourth quarter alone when the Nets erased a seven-point deficit. Thomas shot 16-for-23 for the game and was 4-for-5 from outside with an 8-for-9 record at the foul line. He delivered five assists with four turnovers and pulled down five rebounds. Thomas found his way back into the rotation recently and has picked up some very good momentum with three strong performances. Considering everything that's going on in Brooklyn, Thomas has a chance to blow up during the second half of the season if he manages to maintain his minutes.

Sun Dec 11 202207:11Cam Thomas Scores Career-High 33 Points
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Cam Thomas exploded for a career-high 33 points in Saturday's 136-133 win against Indiana. He was perfect with his three attempts from deep and shot 13-for-20 overall in 29 minutes off the bench. Thomas grabbed three rebounds as well and had two turnovers. All the big guns sat out the contest and it gave others an opportunity to shine. Thomas took his chance with open arms, and fantasy managers who took a shot with him will be very pleased, although the 21-year-old didn't really do much else besides scoring. Thomas is a talented player, but he generally struggles to get minutes when the whole squad is available and he shouldn't be a regular on any fantasy team. However, Thomas would become relevant again if there's another game in which Brooklyn rests a bunch of people.

Sat Oct 1 202214:20Cam Thomas May Not See A Bump In Minutes This Season
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas isn't projected to see an increase in minutes this season, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. The Nets are hoping to keep everyone healthy this season, so if that happens, Thomas isn't expected to be a major factor in the rotation. The 20-year-old appeared in 67 games last season. However, after Thomas averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in two starts, fantasy managers saw a glimpse of his true potential. While he may become a productive performer moving ahead, he likely won't see consistent work for at least a year or two, ultimately decreasing his redraft value in 2022-23. At the same time, dynasty participants must keep him stashed at all costs.

Sun Jul 17 202201:28Cam Thomas Has Another Impressive Summer League Showing
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas finished Summer League by dropping 25 points on the Boston Celtics. Thomas has arguably been the most impactful performer in the Las Vegas circuit. It's no surprise considering he had some strong showings as a rookie last season by averaging 21 points in two starts. Nonetheless, the 20-year-old is destined for a consistent role with the big club this season, so he should see some interest in deep fantasy formats. However, his shoddy shooting numbers may negatively impact category managers.

Fri Jul 15 202209:23Cam Thomas Drops 26 Points On Thursday
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas continued to pour in the points during Thursday's Summer League contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored 26 points in the game while shooting 7-for-16 from the field, 4-for-8 from three-point range and 8-for-8 from the free throw line. He also added three assists and a rebound. Thomas looks destined to be included on the All-Summer League team this year as he's averaged 28 points per game over four outings. His fantasy relevance for the 2022-23 season greatly depends on whether the team winds up moving Kevin Durant and/or Kyrie Irving. If both players are dealt, Thomas could be a phenomenal late round target for three-pointers.

Sun Jul 10 202220:59Cam Thomas Impressive In Summer League
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas led all scorers in the win over Philly on Sunday during Summer League action. Thomas had 26 points while adding seven assists, three boards, and two steals. Although he shot a rough 5-for-17 from the field, he certainly made up for it by sinking all 15 free throw tries. The 20-year-old made sporadic appearances throughout his rookie season. However, he displayed flashes of promise during his limited time on the floor. Thomas will likely not only secure a spot on the depth chart for Brooklyn heading into the regular season, but he may also get a bump in responsibilities, especially if the team moves on from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Wed Mar 16 202218:19Cam Thomas Available For Wednesday's Game
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas (back) will be available for Wednesday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks. This is great news for the Nets as they will be extremely short-handed in the backcourt. Kyrie Irving won't be eligible for the game as it's a home game and Seth Curry (ankle) has been ruled out for the game. Thomas will be one of three guards in the team's rotation on Wednesday along with Patty Mills and Goran Dragic. Thomas likely won't see quite as much playing time as the other two. He's only averaged 9.2 minutes per game over six games this month.

Wed Mar 16 202214:46Cam Thomas Listed As Questionable For Wednesday
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas (back) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. He sat out of Tuesday's game, which resulted in a 60-point performance from Kyrie Irving. Sadly, Irving will be sitting out on Wednesday, so having Thomas back would be a nice boost. Fellow guard Seth Curry (ankle) is questionable as well, so Thomas could be looking at a significant role on Wednesday. Fantasy managers will have to check back for more information.
