Sun Sep 13 201513:49Copeland designated for assignment Sunday
Copeland was designated for assignment Sunday, MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reports.
The Blue Jays acquired infielder Darwin Barney from the Dodgers earlier in the day and needed a 40-man roster for him, with the team ultimately settling on Copeland as their casualty. The 27-year-old posted a 6.46 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over five appearances (three starts) with the Blue Jays earlier this season.

Copeland got the win for Triple-A Buffalo, pitching seven shutout innings in Monday's victory over Gwinnett. He gave up eight hits and one walk while striking out one.
Copeland continues to be one of the most effective pitchers for Triple-A Buffalo, holding a 1.96 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in 96.2 innings this season. Though he's not a big strikeout pitcher, notching only 50 this season, he forces tons of weak contact and managed three inning-ending double plays on Monday. While he hasn't been effective in his three starts for the Blue Jays, with an injury or two, the 27-year-old could be in line for a spot start.

Copeland was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Copeland struggled mightily in his start Sunday, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in just 1.1 innings. He joins Ryan Tepera and Phil Coke as the three pitchers all getting demoted Sunday, and will once again serve as organizational depth.

Coepland will make his next start Sunday against the Orioles, Shi Davidi of SportsNet reports.
Copeland came up from Triple-A earlier in the week to start in place of Aaron Sanchez (lat strain) on Tuesday, and manager John Gibbons confirmed Thursday that Copeland will get another chance to take the hill Sunday. Copeland allowed three runs on eight hits in only 4.0 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Mets.

Copeland took the loss in Tuesday's start against the Mets, as he allowed three runs on eight hits in just four innings. He struck out one.
Copeland didn't walk a batter but got touched up for eight hits. He's a sinkerballer who relies on ground balls, but he showed no ability to miss bats against the Mets -- he induced just two swinging strikes in 77 pitches. Copeland has a 2.57 ERA and could hold on to the rotation spot vacated by Aaron Sanchez for a few weeks, but it's hard to see the fantasy value in his approach -- his K/9 is a brutal 3.2 and was just 5.5 at Triple-A Buffalo.

Copeland will be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and start Tuesday against the Yankees, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.
Copeland tossed seven innings of one-run ball in his first Major League start Wednesday, making him the clear candidate to fill in for Aaron Sanchez, who was placed on the DL Sunday due to a lat strain. With Sanchez set to miss multiple starts, Copeland's time in the majors may last several weeks, especially if he pitches well Tuesday.

Copeland was terrific in his first career major league start Wednesday, going seven innings and allowing only one run on six hits with four strikeouts in a win over the Marlins. He was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo after the game.
The sinkerballer kept the ball low throughout the contest, recording 12 groundball outs. It was just a spot start for Copeland with the team opting to skip Aaron Sanchez this time through the rotation, but manager John Gibbons was impressed by the 27-year-old's work. "He definitely opened up everybody's eyes," Gibbons said. "I think everyone thought he was good, but to go out and actually do it, it's only [going to] help him out in the future."

Copeland will be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to start Wednesday's game, the Toronto Star's Brendan Kennedy reports.
He will get a spot start in an effort to manage Aaron Sanchez's innings. While Sanchez has been up and down this year, he will return to the Blue Jays' rotation next week and Copeland will presumably be optioned back to Triple-A following Wednesday's start. He has a 1.97 ERA in 45.2 innings at Triple-A, but has just 28 strikeouts in that span, so the upside is low.

Copeland was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo following Tuesday's doubleheader.
He was just up as the 26th man for the doubleheader and will continue offering organizational bullpen depth moving forward.

Copeland was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to serve as the 26th man for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.
The Blue Jays only needed one reliever for the first game of the doubleheader, so Copeland doesn't have a great chance to pitch in the second game. He's thrown three scoreless innings for the Blue Jays this season, and while he owns a 2.21 ERA through 40.2 innings at Triple-A Buffalo, the 27-year-old still misses very few bats (5.1 K/9).
Thu May 28 201514:56Copeland optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday
Copeland was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
Copeland has made a pair of appearances for Toronto this season, allowing two hits and no earned runs in 3.0 cumulative innings of work. He'll return to Buffalo, where he's started sox games, going 3-1 with a 2.43 ERA across 37.0 innings. The Blue Jays are not expected to announce a corresponding move until Friday.
Mon May 18 201517:53Copeland recalled from Triple-A Buffalo
Copeland has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo.
Copeland, who has appeared in two games for the Jays this season, boasts a 2.43 ERA in 37.0 Triple-A innings on the season. He'll likely provide bullpen help at the major league level, as was the case during his first call-up at the start of the month. The Blue Jays are yet to make a corresponding move, and an announcement is expected Tuesday.
