Fri Nov 17 202318:13Brewers Acquire Jake Bauers From Yankees
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers from the New York Yankees on Friday in exchange for outfielders Jace Avina and Brian Sanchez. Bauers' versatility in the outfield and at first base is nice, but he just hasn't done much offensively in his four major-league seasons to this point with the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians, Seattle Mariners and Yankees, slashing .211/.302/.361 with 39 home runs, 140 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 412 games played. In 84 games in pinstripes in 2023, he hit just .202 (49-for-242) with a career-high-tying 12 homers, 15 doubles, 30 RBI, three stolen bases and 28 runs scored in 272 plate appearances. The left-handed-hitting 28-year-old will attempt to win the majority of playing time at first base from Rowdy Tellez in Milwaukee in 2024.

Sun Jul 23 202312:03Jake Bauers Activated And Starting Sunday
The New York Yankees activated outfielders Jake Bauers (shoulder) and Greg Allen (hip) from the 10-day injured list on Sunday and optioned infielder/outfielder Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Bauers is immediately back in the team's starting lineup on Sunday to face right-hander Jordan Lyles and the Kansas City Royals. He's playing right field and batting leadoff. The 27-year-old went 7-for-9 with two home runs and two doubles during three minor-league rehab games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and Sunday will be his first big-league game since going on the injured list on July 6 with a left rotator-cuff inflammation. The left-handed hitter should see time against right-handers, at least until Aaron Judge (toe) returns from his injury.

Tue Jul 18 202308:34Jake Bauers Joins Triple-A Club
New York Yankees outfielder Jake Bauers (shoulder) joined Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday as he continues to work back from a left rotator-cuff contusion. The 27-year-old plans to work out in the team's facility for a couple of days before he starts a rehab assignment on Friday. Before his injury in early July, Bauers was putting up his best offensive campaign, slashing .224/.312/.470 with seven homers, 18 runs, 19 RBI, and two steals over 49 games. Still, fantasy managers should only stash the former seventh-round selection in deeper formats, as he likely won't be back until August.

Fri Jul 7 202317:23Jake Bauers Goes On Injured List, Franchy Cordero Called Up
The New York Yankees placed outfielder Jake Bauers (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 6) on Friday with a left rotator-cuff contusion and recalled infielder/outfielder Franchy Cordero from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. It's unknown how long Bauers will be out after injuring his left shoulder while diving for a ball in the outfield on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was seeing regular playing time in right field with Aaron Judge (toe) out and was hitting .224 with seven homers in 134 at-bats. Cordero could now see decent playing time in right for the Yanks until Judge is able to return. He's starting in right and batting ninth on Friday against Chicago Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon.

Thu Jul 6 202319:01Jake Bauers Sitting On Thursday With Shoulder Injury
New York Yankees outfielder Jake Bauers (shoulder) was held out of Thursday's lineup versus the Baltimore Orioles with a shoulder problem. The 27-year-old is set to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the damage after he tried to make a diving catch during Wednesday's game. Bauer was able to remain in the contest, but ultimately couldn't get into Thursday's lineup. Manager Aaron Boone didn't shut down the possibility of Bauers being available off the bench for this one, so it may not be a lengthy absence. Harrison Bader returns to action on Thursday to patrol center field and bat cleanup, shifting Isiah Kiner-Falefa to left while he hits eighth vs. Kyle Bradish.

Wed May 3 202316:16Jake Bauers Back In Wednesday's Lineup
New York Yankees outfielder Jake Bauers (knee) is back in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday against the Cleveland Guardians, starting in right field and batting seventh against right-hander Shane Bieber. A right-knee injury had kept Bauers out of action for the last three days, but he's back in there on Wednesday in a tough matchup against Cleveland's ace. The 27-year-old has played in just one game in New York this year, but his first plate appearance on Wednesday will be his first of the year. In 21 games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Bauers went 21-for-69 (.304) with five doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 20 RBI and five steals. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues that are looking for power in the short term should consider Bauers while Aaron Judge (hip) is on the injured list.

Fri Jun 3 202220:15Yankees Acquire Jake Bauers From Reds
The New York Yankees acquired infielder/outfielder Jake Bauers from the Cincinnati Reds on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. Bauers was a top prospect in the Tampa Bay Rays system before getting dealt to Cleveland and struggling in two seasons. He spent last year with the Guardians and Seattle Mariners, going a combined 59-for-282 (.209) with four home runs, 19 RBI, 27 runs scored and six stolen bases in 315 plate appearances over 115 games. The 26-year-old has a slash line of .213/.307/.348 with 27 homers, 110 RBI and 15 stolen bases in three big-league seasons, and he has yet to play in a major league game in 2022. Bauers was hitting just .135 (13-for-96) with three homers, 12 RBI and four steals in 29 games for Triple-A Louisville before the trade on Friday.

Wed Oct 27 202120:28Mariners Outright Jake Bauers
The Seattle Mariners announced on Wednesday that the team outrighted first baseman and outfielder Jake Bauers after the 26-year-old cleared waivers. Bauers hit .209 with a .290 on-base percentage, a 63 wRC+, four home runs, and six stolen bases in 315 plate appearances split between Cleveland and Seattle this past season. Seattle currently has Evan Whiteand Ty France on hand as options at first base. Seattle's current outfield options on the 40-man roster include Mitch Haniger, Jake Fraley, Jarred Kelenic, Kyle Lewis, and Taylor Trammell.

Mon Sep 20 202115:14Jake Bauers Goes Yard Sunday
Seattle Mariners first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers flashed some impressive power Sunday, hitting a towering 464-foot home run. It was his only hit in five at-bats against the Kansas City Royals. The solo shot now gives Bauers four homers on the year in 273 at-bats to go with six steals and a .579 OPS. Bauers isn't rosterable for fantasy purposes, but he could become a deep-league option in the future should he manage to garner regular playing time.

Thu Sep 16 202100:39Jake Bauers Steals A Base Wednesday
Seattle Mariners first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers entered as a pinch-hitter in Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox and stole a base after being hit by a pitch in his only plate appearance. Bauers now has six steals on the year. With only 19 plate appearances in 10 September games, Bauers is simply not rosterable in fantasy leagues, but he's seemingly forged out a safe spot on Seattle's major league roster as a bench bat against lefties.

Tue Aug 24 202101:49Jake Bauers Drives In Two, Steals a Base
Seattle Mariners utility man Jake Bauers earned a start Monday against the Texas Rangers, and he made it count by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base. The steal gives him four on the season. Bauers is firmly a part-time player with just 31 at-bats this month, but he's found a way to contribute with his three homers and four steals this season. It would take quite a series of events to bring him to fantasy relevance.

Mon Aug 9 202100:39Jake Bauers Steals Base Sunday
Seattle Mariners first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers got the start in right field batting batting ninth against the New York Yankees Sunday, and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base, his second of the season. Bauers has seen his playing time dip of late, with just 32 at-bats in his last 15 games, and he isn't earning much more with his .466 OPS in that span. He offers a bit of everything, but only a bit, earning him a spot on the waiver wire.

HOUSTON (AP) — Nestor Cortes and three relievers combined for a three-hitter and Brett Gardner and DJ LeMahieu each drove in two runs to lead the New York Yankees over the Houston Astros 4-0 on Friday night. Making a spot start, Cortes permitted two hits in 4 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking two and lowering his ERA to 1.05. Lucas Luetge (3-1) pitched 1 1/3 hitless innings for the win. Bryce Harper blew kisses at a booing crowd to punctuate his home run, and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 2-1 in eight innings Friday night for a doubleheader split after Aaron Nola matched a long-standing major league record with 10 straight strikeouts in the opener. Odúbel Herrera drove in the tiebreaking run with a groundout against reliever Sean Reid-Foley (2-1) in the eighth as both games took an extra inning to determine a winner.
