Mon Sep 18 202300:43Taylor Rogers Grabs One-Out Save Sunday
San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Taylor Rogers succeeded in getting the final out of a one-run game against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. Rogers was tasked with getting the Giants out of a two-out, runner-on-first situation after Camilo Doval gave up four runs in a disastrous outing. Fortunately, Rogers was up to the task. He now has a 3.06 ERA and 1.16 WHIP, and could be the next man up for saves given Doval's recent struggles. The Giants bullpen has a lot of good options, though, so it wouldn't be a given that Rogers would assume the closer role. It is a situation to keep an eye on for fantasy managers looking to shore up their bullpens.

Wed Apr 19 202322:22Taylor Rogers Records First Save
San Francisco Giants reliever Taylor Rogers recorded his first save of the season in the Giants' 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Rogers inherited two runners in the 11th inning with one out and caught Jazz Chisholm looking on strikes, followed by a hit batsman and ground out to complete the save. The 32-year-old has been struggling since the beginning of the season despite a small sample size, but Wednesday's outing is a step in the right direction. In 4 2/3 innings of work, Rogers owns a horrid 13.50 ERA, 2.36 WHIP, with three strikeouts. The Colorado native hasn't had enough opportunities to make amends for his poor performance on the mound, but it's still early on the season and Rogers has plenty of time to find his groove. In 2022, the southpaw posted a 4.76 ERA (3.31 FIP), 1.181 WHIP, and a 30.7% strikeout rate across 64 1/3 innings.

Sun Apr 9 202319:19Taylor Rogers Notches First Save
San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Taylor Rogers was asked to take the mound in the ninth inning during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals. The left-hander was able to get through all three of the batters he faced and earn his first save of the season. Normally, Camilo Doval is the primary closer, but he received the day off after struggling during his last outing. The expectation is that Doval will remain the team's closer. However, it wouldn't be shocking to see Rogers get a few more chances whenever Doval isn't available.

Fri Dec 23 202213:11Taylor Rogers Heads To San Francisco
The San Francisco Giants and free-agent left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers agreed to a three-year, $33 million deal, pending a physical, on Friday, according to a source. Rogers will reunite with his brother Tyler in the Giants bullpen in 2023. The 32-year-old southpaw spent the 2022 season with the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers, posting a career-high 4.76 ERA (3.31 FIP), a 1.18 WHIP, a career-high 31 saves and a career-high 36 percent strikeout rate in 64 1/3 relief innings. Rogers had a bit of bad luck last year and should bounce back, although he won't be guaranteed save chances in San Francisco, as Camilo Doval should enter the 2023 campaign as the team's first option to close out games. Still, Rogers should be a high-leverage reliever for the Gigantes and should have appeal in holds leagues as a setup man with strikeout upside.

Fri Sep 9 202200:32Taylor Rogers Collects 31st Save Thursday
Milwaukee Brewers reliever Taylor Rogers secured his 31st save of the season as his club defeated the Giants 4-2 in the second game of a twin bill on Thursday. The lefty threw nine of his 13 pitches for strikes as he struck out the side in order to close out the game after Devin Williams closed out the team's first game earlier in the day. It's been an up-and-down season for Rogers in 2022 as his save total between the Padres and the Brew Crew is terrific, but it's come at the price of a 4.69 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Managers who have rode with him this long should keep hanging on as he's bound to pick up a few more saves before the season has concluded.

Sun Sep 4 202200:52Taylor Rogers Records 30th Save
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Taylor Rogers recorded his 30th save of the season Saturday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of relief to secure an 8-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has now gone eight consecutive outings without allowing an earned run, though he only has two saves in that span. Fantasy managers should be regaining confidence in the lefty, even if his upside is limited by sharing the closer role with Devin Williams. Rogers has a 4.19 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 67 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings this season.

Sun Aug 14 202221:45Taylor Rogers Implodes Sunday
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Taylor Rogers turned in another poor outing on Sunday, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk to take his sixth loss of the season against just one win. He struck out two batters. Rogers now has a 5.00 ERA and 1.20 WHIP on the season, and he's worked his way well off the fantasy radar following a trade from the San Diego Padres. It's hard to see how Brewers manager Craig Counsell could trust him in a late-inning role at this point, and he should be dropped in all fantasy formats.

Wed Aug 10 202211:25Taylor Rogers Receives Cortisone Injection
Milwaukee Brewers left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers (knee) had a cortisone shot in his left knee over the weekend, which is why he was unavailable to pitch on Tuesday night in the win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Rogers should be good to go soon. With Devin Williams also unavailable after a heavy recent workload, right-hander Matt Bush came on for the save. In his two outings since being traded from the San Diego Padres, Rogers has allowed a run on two hits while striking out three and walking one in two innings. The 31-year-old southpaw has 28 saves on the season, but in Milwaukee he'll mostly be working as the eighth-inning setup man in front of Williams, which makes him a lot less attractive in fantasy baseball leagues.

Mon Aug 1 202214:54Taylor Rogers, Others Traded To Brewers
According to a tweet from ESPN's Jeff Passan on Monday, the Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly acquiring relief pitcher Taylor Rogers along with fellow reliever Dinelson Lamet, pitching prospect Robert Gasser and outfield prospect Esteury Ruiz in exchange for relief pitcher Josh Hader. Rogers has converted 28 saves for the Padres this season, but has struggled as of late, giving up 20 hits, 11 earned runs, and a pair of walks in his last 11.1 innings of work. Devin Williams, who has pitched to a 1.59 ERA, a 1.31 FIP, 66 strikeouts and 19 walks in 39.2 innings this season, would appear to be a better choice to take over at closer.

Fri Jul 29 202219:05Taylor Rogers Removed From Closer Role
San Diego Padres left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers has been removed from the closer role, according to manager Bob Melvin. Rogers has been one of the worst relievers in baseball the last few months, after arguably being the best reliever in the league for the first couple of months. Since May 28, Rogers has compiled a 8.14 ERA and 1.57 WHIP while converting just 11 of 18 save opportunities. He also took the loss on five occasions. Rogers could regain the role eventually, and Melvin even said he preferred Rogers in that role, but for now the Padres will go by committee. In deeper leagues, names like Luis Garcia and Nick Martinez should be watched carefully as they should see some opportunities.

Thu Jul 28 202214:27Taylor Rogers In Danger Of Losing Closing Gig?
San Diego Padres skipper Bob Melvin said that closer Taylor Rogers told him he was good to go and eager to close on Wednesday, when he blew his second straight save chance in a loss against the Detroit Tigers. The Padres didn't go with left-hander Adrian Morejon because he hasn't pitched in a save situation. However, Melvin said "maybe down the road" the team will take a look at making a change in the ninth inning. Rogers is currently tied for the MLB lead with the Milwaukee Brewers' Josh Hader with 28 saves, but he's also 1-5 with a 4.35 ERA and has allowed 10 earned runs on 17 hits while striking out 11 and walking two in 9 2/3 innings in the month of July. Morejon has never saved a game in his four MLB seasons, and there's a good chance Nick Martinez (four saves this year) or Luis Garcia will get first crack at save chances if Rogers is eventually demoted.

Wed Jul 27 202217:01Taylor Rogers Blows Another Save Chance On Wednesday
San Diego Padres closer Taylor Rogers was charged with his second blown save in as many days on Wednesday when he failed to maintain a 3-2 ninth-inning lead against the Detroit Tigers. He gave up three hits and two earned runs while recording two outs. Tigers outfielder Victor Reyes drove in both runs on a walk-off double. Rogers is tied for first in the majors with 28 saves, but his seven blown saves lead the majors as well. If the Padres were to move on from Rogers, we'd likely see either Luis Garcia or Nick Martinez earn a shot at ninth-inning duties. Garcia has been the team's top setup man with 18 holds, while Martinez is second on the team in saves with four, and he hasn't blown any save opportunities this year. Having said all that, it's likely that Rogers will remain the team's primary closer, at least for now.

Sun Jul 17 202200:22Taylor Rogers Converts 26th Save
San Diego Padres reliever Taylor Rogers picked up his 26th save of the season on Saturday as his club topped the Diamondbacks 4-3. Rogers needed 15 pitches to retire the side in order which included two strikeouts and an infield pop out. After allowing a run in five consecutive appearances, Rogers has worked scoreless innings in back-to-back games to give him a 3.82 ERA and 0.98 WHIP on the season. The left-hander's high save total and 44 K through 37 2/3 are still giving fantasy owners more than enough to cheer about as he looks to put the previous rough patch behind him.

Tue Jul 12 202200:17Taylor Rogers Earns Rough Save Monday
San Diego Padres closer Taylor Rogers didn't make it look pretty but did earn his 24th save of the season in Monday's 6-5 win over the Rockies. Rodgers came in to pitch the ninth inning up by three. He allowed a leadoff single, got the next two hitters out on a flyout and strikeout, but then allowed back-to-back RBI doubles before getting the final out on a ground out. Rogers has been very reliable for the most part this season, but he has now allowed at least one earned run in each of his last five outings, bringing his ERA up to a lackluster 4.04. His strikeouts and walks are both solid and he has strong job security, so fantasy managers should stick with him for now and hope he can clear this rough patch.

Fri Jun 3 202200:04Taylor Rogers Coughs Up Four Runs In Blown Save
San Diego Padres reliever Taylor Rogers had a night to forget on Thursday as he was charged with four earned runs in the club's 5-4 loss to the Brewers. The left-hander began the ninth inning by allowing a single and hitting back-to-back batters before Jace Peterson cleared the bases on a triple to tie the game. Nabil Crismatt then came in and allowed a walk-off single to Andrew McCutchen to give Rogers the loss and his third blown save of the year. It's been a rocky week for the 31-year-old who surrendered three runs in another blown save last weekend, but he still owns an admirable 3.27 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with 26 K in 22 IP on the year. Rogers should get back on track soon, so owners shouldn't panic during this rough patch.

Sun May 29 202206:16Taylor Rogers Charged With The Blown Save And Loss
San Diego Padres pitcher Taylor Rogers (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out three over an inning. He was charged with his first loss and second blown save of the season. The 31-year-old entered the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead. He allowed two runners on base and surrendered a three-run home run to Ke'Bryan Hayes. Before Saturday's loss, Rogers had thrown 20 1/4 scoreless innings. The southpaw is 17-for-19 with a 1.69 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts over 21 innings in 2022. Despite Saturday's hiccup, Rogers remains one of the top fantasy closers in 2022.

In the eighth inning, with runners on first and third base, the southpaw struck out Nick Castellanos to escape a jam. He pitched a two-out walk in the ninth to notch his 15th save of the season. The 31-year-old owns a -0.52 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts over 17 1/3 innings. Rogers leads the majors with 15 saves and has been one of the most reliable closers in fantasy baseball in 2022.

He struck out Kyle Schwarber, allowed a single, but then got a double-play ball to end the game. Rogers has been fantastic since joining the Padres and is now tied with Josh Hader for the most saves in baseball. He owns an immaculate 0.56 ERA with 18 strikeouts and two walks over 16 innings pitched.

Wed May 11 202200:58Taylor Rogers Earns Shaky Save Tuesday
San Diego Padres closer Taylor Rogers didn't make things easy but did earn the save in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Cubs. Rogers entered the game to pitch the ninth inning with a two-run lead. He got the first two hitters out on a strikeout and groundout, but then allowed a single, hit a batter, allowed an RBI single, hit another batter to load the bases, and finally got a flyout to end the game. Despite the theatrics, Rogers has been a solid fantasy option since joining the Padres, converting 11 of 12 save opportunities with a 0.71 ERA and 13 strikeouts over 12 2/3 innings of work.

Fri May 6 202201:01Taylor Rogers Secures 11th Save
San Diego Padres reliever Taylor Rogers collected his 11th save of the season on Thursday as his club defeated the Marlins 2-1. The southpaw picked up two strikeouts in the perfect frame, throwing 15 pitches as he still sits with a clean 0.00 ERA on the year. Rogers has a sharp 12/1 K/BB to go along with a 0.43 WHIP through his first 12 appearances with his new team as the late spring training deal with the Twins is providing massive dividends already. He should remain a lock for nearly all the save opportunities for the Friars the rest of the way, making him a top-tier reliever in all formats that count saves.
